Charge 6 cannot pair with phone

I got my Charge 6 today, charged it, and upgraded the Fitbit app, the device shows in the app but cannot pair. Turned off/on the Bluetooth and retried no difference. On Charge 6 nothing changes and displays download the Fitbit app. I reconnected my Charge 4 and it is working fine. Any pointers on what else I can try?

Thanks for letting me know about your Charge 6 and sharing the steps that you've tried so far. I'm sorry for this inconvenience and while you've tried troubleshooting your tracker, please give one more try to the following steps in the given order:

  1. Fully charge your tracker
  2. Reboot your phone and restart your Charge 6
  3. Force close the Fitbit App on your phone
  4. Forget every Fitbit device from the Bluetooth settings
  5. Turn off the Bluetooth, and then turn it back on
  6. Retry the Charge 6 Setup process.

Thank you! Here are the steps that worked for me when updating to the Charge 6:

1. Chose "forget device" for my charge 5 in my iPhone Bluetooth settings after final sync
2. Connected the Charge 6 to the charger
3. Rebooted my phone
4. Force closed the Fitbit app
5. Entered the 4 digit code
6. Completed pairing and software update

Keep doing this and nothing!

Still no further forward after updating the thing and charging it. All afternoon. Well not find device. Device shows nothing more than 'download Fitbit app '.

Getting really annoyed and after a week's delay for a pre-ordered device.

This was purchased as my wife's charge 4 screen no longer shows any brightness and can only be read in the dark. My charge 4 is even brighter on dim than hers is on normal!!

Big thanks to Charlyn who helped us sort it out. After checking all the stuff we had set up, restarts etc we needed to reset the device to do afresh. This let us download the firmware and pair again properly fully. She was with us for an hour assisting til 10pm UK time. We originally started all this at 5pm. Time for bed!

This is my issue today, I bought the new Fitbit 6 this phone and it won’t connect and Fitbit 4 hasn’t showed any date since October 6 but it says it’s connected but it isn’t, I have a I phone 13 pro max. Do I need to take the Fitbit back to the shop or what do I do? I have two Fitbits and neither works.

Hello

I have done all this and still doesn’t work?
need advice please?

Best Answer

I have the exact issue and none of the steps they provide works.

I have tried all of these throughout the day, called fitbit support, had an email and nothing works.

Everyone advises on the same steps but they don't work.

It’s crazy, I have spent all day and can’t get my head round it.

My partner's Charge 6 arrived today. We've tried all of the above, at least 5 times, still nothing. Fitbit just says download fitbit mobile app. So frustrating!!

Ok. Let's try these steps to do the factory reset or clear user data on your Charge 6:

- Press the Charge 6 Button shortly, for a maximum of one second (You will receive a confirmation vibration).
- Press the Charge 6 Button for 5 seconds (Keep the button pressed until you receive a confirmation vibration).
- Press the Charge 6 Button shortly again.

You will get a dialogue on the display ask you to Clear User Data the tap Accept.

After that, please try to pair it again.

above worked for me this took 10 of pushing multiple times the button on the device but finally worked !!

For us reinstalling the Fitbit app solved the problem.

The device setup needs multiple permissions (e.g. location in the background) for the app to function properly. These permission prompts only appeared when freshly installing the Fitbit app.

This time the quick pairing window also appeared as we plugged in the Charge 6. Then the Fitbit app was automatically opened. The permission prompts popped up during the set up. And the pairing was successfully completed.

Note that we also cleared the user data with the short-loooong-short press method (see MoWoWIE's post). However, it is unclear that it was needed for our success.

Had the same until I gave up, left it for a couple days and just before shipping back decided to try one last time .

After the 2nd try, got the number for pairing and then tried the reset process ( more than 3 times pressing the button ) and this finally worked. Once the tracker resets , then everything goes to normal and reloads the new firmware.

wish you luck, ir is frustrating

Received my Charge 6 yesterday. Had the same problem. The app on the phone recognized the Charge 6 but then the perpetual loop with 4digit code started. I tried everything, but no success. Charge 4 has no problem at all with connecting with the app. Did it several times to check if the phone, app or whatever else had a problem. After a few hours I gave up.

Very annoying and disappointing, I sent the Charge 6 back and the Charge 4 and I lived happily ever after...

Very annoying and disappointed as well.  Phone will not find this device.  Frustrated and this machine has increased stress in my life.  Bad for my health.  Fitbit needs to help resolve this terrible issue.
