I got my Charge 6 today, charged it, and upgraded the Fitbit app, the device shows in the app but cannot pair. Turned off/on the Bluetooth and retried no difference. On Charge 6 nothing changes and displays download the Fitbit app. I reconnected my Charge 4 and it is working fine. Any pointers on what else I can try?

I tried for over an hour to pry the secret handshake out of support on how to reset the device. so frustrating I almost returned this piece of junk!

None of this worked. Thoroughly frustrated. Bought to replace a charge 3 with faded/invisible screen. Returning to Amazon tomorrow.

Tried everything discussed above and still no joy in getting it to pair up with Bluetooth.
The device display just keeps saying download the app, which I have done at least 4 times.
My Samsung phone can see the Charge 6 but will not pair up with it.
I will visit Curry's tomorrow and if they cannot sort it out they can keep it.

After spending an hour on them not pairing, the key was to disconnect my old Fitbit in the app. It doesn’t delete your data. It then paired straight away!

Hi, I purchased my Charge 6 today. I'm having the same problem - cannot pair with my samsung s23. I keep following the steps 1-6 and it won't pair 😞 and Charge 6 just is just blank, only showing battery amount and black screen asking to download the app. I've tried for more than 6 hours, trying these steps over and over. How on earth can I get it to work? thank you

Yes, and thank you for replying. My old Luxe fitbit (which after 1.5 yrs just seems to have stopped working completely this week) is not recognised as a device on my phone. I will wait over night and see if the 'clear data' on the Charge 6 has worked. After hours and hours trying to get it to work, I'm going to give up for a while and then try again. If still no joy I'm going to return it, I just hope the store will accept the return - the Charge 6 is faulty 😞

Thanks everyone for your help. After a day and a half - I've finally got it to work. After trying all the steps over and over, I decided to do an update of my phone and once that was complete - Charge 6 started up and I went through the steps again and like magic the 'code' appeared and it paired and it's now working. Glad I tried something different and so I highly recommend to anyone else having the same issues after trying all the recommended steps - remove any old fitbit device from phone, de-install fitbit app, do a system update of your phone, begin from the beginning (as per fitbit instructions) download and install fitbit app and pair new device. Good luck 🙂

Thank you. My husband was struggling with Bluetooth connectivity issues and was ready to return his new Charge 6 tracker. Your suggestion worked!!! I own the Pixel 2 tracker - no problems setting up or using.

My Charge 6 is paired to my android Z Fold 6 and both devices are showing as connected to Fitbit. My issue is when I try to pair the device via bluetooth on my phone, I get the following msg: “An app is needed to use this device.”
Is it safe to assume that the bluetooth connection for the Charge 6 can only be done vis Fitbit?
My other smart watches connect directly to my phone except for my Zewa devices; they need an app also.
My charge 6 functions fine and syncs to my phone and Fitbit app.
Hope this helps.

Hello @BFinch343
Are you an Android user? If so, there is currently an issue on the Fitbit side that affect syncing Fitbit devices with Android phones. I suspect that this issue is also affecting your ability to set up your Fitbit device.
There is an update to the Android Fitbit app to version 4.28.2 that is supposed to fix the syncing issue. However, many users are reporting that they are still having the syncing issue, even after updating to version 4.28.2.
At this point, there isn't any troubleshooting that we can recommend since the issue is on the Fitbit side.
If this isn't what you're experiencing, please let us know.
