My charge 6 isn't syncing after most recent updates. I wish Google would leave well enough alone. My charge 5 quit with a dead battery after updates. I'm ready to try something else.

Same! I just bought a new charge 6 like 3 months ago because my charge 5 stopped working and now my charge 6 isn't working!! Ugh!

I've been tagging the Moderators to let them know that version 4.28.2 has not fixed the syncing issue. They are forwarding the information to support.
At this point, there isn't any troubleshooting we can recommend since the issue is on the Fitbit side.

Hurray. I uninstalled fitbit app and downloaded latest version 3.9 just now, and success, my charge 6 has paired with my phone. Too early to say whether it will synch information with other apps, but at least the tracker is working again.

Thank you for letting us know that you're able to sync again after installing the latest Android version, 4.28.3.
Like everyone else, I sure hope we don't have another widespread syncing issue like this again.
