Fitbit Charge 6 doesn’t pair

The new fitbit charge 6 doesn’t pair with Iphone. It shows the pairing number, but when you insert it in the app, it keeps hanging and then says something went wrong. Connection to device timed out. Tried restarting phone, app, fitbit, same result.

I found a solution - at least it worked for me.

  • open the settings page on the Charge 6
  • goto to Device Info
  • tap on delete user data and confirm it

The Charge 6 was detected automatically after the reboot and I was able to pair it again. You have to add the credit card for the NFC payment again but you don’t lose any data.

I cannot get to the settings page on the Charge 6.  I only get the "Download the Fitbit App", and then when I try and connect, I get the 4 digit PIN, and then the "Try Again" with the big red X.  This is a piece of garbage device.

Having the same issue. Regret my purchase. I’ve had 4 Fitbit’s since 2015 and I don’t trust the brand anymore. Thanks google for wasting my time.

Respectfully, It’s not a trouble shooting issue. This product was released before it was ready.

Nothing is working. My charge 5 died after the update now I got a charge 6 that wont synch. 😞

Seems work for me, almost put it back to the box and clicked "Refund". See if it works for days. Fitbit always challenges their users's last loyalty.

Already shipped back.  Tried it again this morning and still a P.O.S.  If setting up this device is this difficult, there is no amount of my valuable time that should be wasted on it.  Challenge accepted, and I will be receiving my $170 back in credit for a real device.

I was on Chat with FitBit, and magically it synched and started downloading when I tried it with them on the line, go figure. Not sure if it was I was in a different part of the house with a better connection or what...It's up and running today and works like a charm.  I did do the reset of pushing the button 3 times, did delete the app and start over....nothing worked until today.  Not sure what the reciepe was but I am happy to be up and running again!

Here are the steps how did I make it work 🎉

  1. It's super tricky 🧐 You need to press on the usb button 3 times in a row but you should get vibration feedback every time your click registered, cuz it might not register every time (repeat until it rebooted and see the charging status again).
  2. Try to pair the device again.

Thanks

How did you fix this? I have the same issue on my android?

I have done all of that, but it hasn't helped. I got my new fitbit yesterday, but I haven't been able to connect it to the app. I even deleted and re-downloaded it. Where can I get more help?

Hello everyone. Thanks for reaching out about setting up your Fitbit Charge 6.

Please note that there was an outage over the weekend. That definitely affected the whole app, logging in, syncing and the setup process as well. It has been addressed and resolved. However, if you are still experiencing issues setting up the device, please take a look at this article (Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?) and follow the suggestions for this situation:

  1. Fully charge your Fitbit Charge 6
  2. Restart your Charge 6. Please use the charging cable method described in the article.
  3. Make sure the Fitbit app is updated on your phone.
  4. Force close the Fitbit App on your phone
  5. Forget any Fitbit devices from the Bluetooth settings
  6. Turn off the Bluetooth, and then turn it back on
  7. Retry the Charge 6 Setup process.

Thanks in advance. For those of you who are already in contact with support, please stay in touch with them. They will provide you with a suitable resolution.

That would have been great information to know when everyone was having
issues, rather than- have you tried turning it off and back on again.

Today, I unboxed my new Charge 6 and attempted to link it with my iPhone 13 mini, but it failed. Although I managed to pair the devices using the provided PIN, the Fitbit App prompted a device update. Unfortunately, the update failed at 4%, saying it lost the connection. To resolve this, I connected the Fitbit to its charger and disabled the "Auto-Lock" feature on my iPhone to maintain a continuous connection. This did the trick and I was able to successfully download and install the update.

same issue here, can't pair with my pixel fold. I guess that I have to return it

Yeah it took 2 phones and many attempts to rest the device. However once it gets the update then it pairs just fine. So they clearly know that this is an issue if a software update makes it connect instantly after wiping it (actually showed up under quick pairing pop up. on the pixel 7).

The one note is the reset button is on the USB cord . if you are pressing the button on the Fitbit itself you are pressing the wrong button

Step2 of resetting simply does not work.
I also tried to do the pairing from my iPad and at the end it hangs , after entering the pairing code.

is there any other way to hard reset ? ( obviously cannot go to device settings because I cannot get that far at all) I think I need to return this piece of art  and continue using my old charge 4 , which at least I can reconnect as many times as I need.

Totally agree with you , it is a problem with the Fitbit device and the firmware

Resetting with the cable button worked for me. I could sync it after resetting the Fitbit, but I had to reinstall the app and turn my phone on/ off a few times. Certainly more complicated than previous Fitbit devices.

Bought the new Fitbit Charge 6 yesterday (19.10.23) - cannot get past the 4 digit pairing screen (IOS iPhone). Tried everything suggested - reboot - re-downloaded app - turned Bluetooth on & off - turned phone on & off - has anybody managed to connect/sort this issue?

Mine exactly the same as of yesterday - did you manage to sort it?
