Google Wallet ”add a payment card” unresponsive on iOS

charge 6

iOS Fitbit app v 4.04

When I try to add a card to Google Wallet using the “add a payment card” screen the “+new debit or credit card” button does nothing besides flash and turn grey.

I’ve definitely tried restarting my phone and tracker.

Previously it would get stuck on the “connecting to Google Wallet” screen, but trust problem went away after a day.

I have the same issue on iOS with a Charge 6

I’m having the same issue. Completely busted.

Exact same issue with my Charge 6 I just bought. Has anyone received any feedback from support on how to resolve this? I've tried all the same things and verified I have cards set up when I log into Google payment details on a PC.

I raised this months ago - no response. A long and helpful conversation with my bank said they always had problems with Google wallet. They also mentioned at one time there was a FitBit Wallet, but I don't know about that. Come on Google ...

Quick update: I spent a while on chat with two different support people.

BLUF: no functionality for me still with Google wallet, charge 6, and iPhone

The chat client is a little frustrating, and I stopped hearing their pings
if my phone timed out, which it frequently did every time they paused to
check on something

The first support person took my info and suggested I restart both devices.
Okay, all normal stuff.

Then she asked me about which banks I wanted to add. I told her that I
hadn’t gotten to that point before the app failed, but gave her a list of
the banks I might use.

She told me one bank was compatible, but didn’t mention if the others might
be. She then referred me to the list of Fitbit/GoogleWallet compatible
institutions.

I don’t think she ever understood that I never got to the point of adding a
card. The button doesn’t work!

Then she told me to reinstall my Fitbit app. While I was doing that, she
closed the chat.

So, no change, and now the my app settings are all messed up.

The second support person asked if my iOS was up to date. I must admit it
wasn’t, and needed to go from 7.1.1 -> 7.1.2 .

Still the Google Wallet new card button doesn’t do anything.

Same issue.  Did all the “normal” stuff - latest version of firmware (that was automatic as part of the activation process), latest version of the app, latest iOS (17.1.2).  I even did the entirely unnecessary - remove the app, download it again part.  Restarted the phone.  I am not sure how I go from being about to use NFC payments on my Charge 3SE, 4 and 5 to activating a Charge 6 yesterday and NOT being able to use NFC.

I gave up and came here to research/troubleshoot and came across this thread.  I am not sure how much it matters, but I did switch my FitBit account to Google as part of Charge 6 activation process.  I thought Google would just incorporate my Google Wallet … instead I cannot use the feature at all.

Well, now it works. I was able to add my Chase credit card.

i didn’t do anything special, just tried the wallet again today. This time it showed me a list of credit cards I have already added to google apps.

It gave me an error when I tried to add my Amex (connection error or something), but I don’t think Amex is on the list anyway.

Thanks for this update.  I have used AMEX since the Charge 3 SE … I guess I need to go find the list and call AMEX.  It would be a shame if Google Wallet dropped AMEX after Fitbit Pay supported AMEX, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
