Game Golf App not working after 3.0 update

After updating my Ionic to OS 3.0, they Game Golf app will upload courses from the phone to the app, but when I try to use the app during a round of golf, as soon as I hit "Start Round" the app closes. I restarted the Ionic and re-installed the app. Does anyone have any ideas I could try?

Welcome on board @dwooly, it's nice to see a new member around! Thanks for the steps you've tried in order to sort this out, nice way to go!

I recommend to sync and setup the local course and select "send to tracker". When you add the courses stay on the settings screen open the app and keep track on your watch as it builds your courses. 

If you keep having issues with the Game Golf app, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app once again. Then, from the Fitbit app, reinstall the Game Golf app and try transfering the golf courses.

If you are still having difficulties with this after following those suggestions, I'd like you to send me screen shots of the error message or blank screen you're getting so I can go from there. 

In addition, I think it's great that you update the Fitbit app to the latest version (iOS and Android). I always recommend keeping both the tracker and the Fitbit app up to date with the latest versions. 

Give this a shot and let me know the outcome!

I tried all the steps you suggested and it didn't work. I can't send you a screen shot because once I tap start round, the app simply closes, so there is no screen shot to send. Any additional suggestions?

I'm having ditto problem with Game Golf.  Have tried reinstall procedure twice and app is still going blank when pushing start play button.  TNX

Game golf App/watch was working fine prior to the update.....Having the same issue after the Fitbit app update, download courses and game golf w/o issues but when I try to play a round and  open the app on my watch it simply closes me out and takes me to the main screen again. Deleted both game golf app and Fitbit app from my iPhone and reinstalled....still not working, please fix!!

Have exactly the same problem - select the course and the app thinks for 2 seconds and then goes back to the ionic screen where I can pick game golf app again. Infuriating. Was working perfectly until the update.

I tried all the things you suggested and now other people are saying they are having the same problem. Can you please update me on the resolution of the problem, as it obviously isn't only me with the issue?

Hi all!  

Just a heads up, a new version of the Game Golf app (v1.0.8) is now available in the Fitbit App Gallery which should help alleviate some of these issues. This version helps to resolve crashes when starting a round that has affected users after updating to OS 3.0.

If you haven't already done so, I recommend checking out this article to make sure your app is up to date.

It looks like this app update did the trick and the app doesn't close now
right away. I will know for sure the next time I play a round. Thank you

Hi there - update means the app now loads, picks up the course and the GPS. Great. But when I then don’t look at the screen for say 2 minutes it goes back to the clock face and I have to go in to the app again, select course and then ‘resume’. I’m not pressing the back button or anything just screen goes black (as expected) but comes back with clock face and log back in (frustrating). So close, but not quite back to perfect! Anyone else tried and had more success?

I am playing golf this weekend and when I went to upload the course to my Ionic, it won't upload the course successfully. I also tried to delete the course and try again (multiple times, but it doesn't work. It shows the uploading circle in the app for a few second then turns red. The watch does show "building course 1/2" on the watch but then just reverts back to the one course I currently have on the watch. Any suggestions? This is getting to be quite frustrating that the app and the watch won't play nicely together. At some point the entire process simply won't be worth all the aggravation.

Actually, I was able to upload a different course with no problem. So it might just be this one particular course. The one I am having trouble uploading is Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, CA. It shows up on the list, but the upload fails to complete. Any suggestions?

The course I can't upload is Twin Oaks golf course in San Marcos, CA. I do
stay on the screen that says building course, but it simply goes back to
the course listing screen on it's own and instead of a gray completed
circle, it has a red circle showing it was not successful in the app on my
phone.

Yep - really annoying, I’m back using an old garmin golf watch whilst I hope they sort it out!

In this case, it will be needed for you to share this feedback to the developers of this app. You will find a contact developer button within the description of the app which is viewable through the app gallery.
