I've installedthe Game Golf app and updated to the second rev. When I select my course, it either does nothing, exits the app or resets my ionic. Any suggestions?

I have used Game golf the last 3 rounds I've played. The Pros are it now
works with my Google pixel, loads courses easily, and gives accurate
distances to the green.
Cons are it stops working and has to be restarted, it does ask if I want to
resume my round after a few holes, it also doesn't advance to the next hole
automatically and I see GG has the ability to give me more information
about the course which would be great!

Hey there @GPCasey! I'm glad to hear that you've been able to sync your courses. Robot Very Happy

If your GG app stops working at some point, I'd like to remind you that when you transfer courses to the watch you need:

1) Good Bluetooth connection.
2) GG watch app is open while transferring course from Fitbit App.
3) GG watch app & Fitbit mobile app don't have any pending updates.

The latest version for the Fitbit app on Android and iOS is currently 2.76. So, please double check that your app is already up-to-dateWoman Very Happy

Stay cool!

You obviously don't understand when I said it stops during the round.
I would have had to downloaded the course properly for it to even offer me
the course I'm playing, and it then shows the proper distance for the first
hole. Then after the first hole my watch reverts to the time and date.
Have you ever played golf?
There are 18 holes in a round , after the first it should go to the 2nd
automatically, it does not.
I have the latest version of the app because previous versions didn't work
with my Android phone.

Experienced the same thing as @GPCasey. I didn't time it, but after about 5 minutes, the app closes on the fitbit ionic watch. Have to restart the app on the watch and 'resume' the round. I too am using an android 8.0 phone, so this is a step in the right direction from when you couldn't even download a course. Now it's just frustrating when you're on the course and every 5 minutes the app closes/crashes or whatever it's really doing.

@GPCasey Thanks for your reply and for sharing those details regarding the experience you are having with the Game Golf app.

Is this only happening with an specific course or is it happening to all of the courses you have downloaded? Are all of the courses you playing of 18 holes?

@D_a_v_e_B_ Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for reporting that you are also experiencing the same situation with the courses.

Is this happening with a course in particular? How many holes is it?

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

It's happened on all 3 the courses I have used it for. They are all 18
holes.

@SantiR I have used it once since the download course issue. So, 1 out of 1 courses. 18 holes.

Prior to the download course issue, I used the app successfully without this issue. Stayed alive for the round.

Thanks for getting back and sharing those details @D_a_v_e_B_ and @GPCasey! I totally understand where your concerns are coming from. Let's try one last thing:

  • Log out from your Fitbit app
  • Log out from your GG app
  • Force quit the Fitbit app
  • Restart your tracker
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit app
  • Log back into your GG app

After doing this, please test one more time your GG and see how it goes! Robot Very Happy

Update: After doing some logging in/out/resetting of the app, it works much better. Still closes every now and then, but that isn't a real bothersome.

I had so many issues with it I finally gave up on it and started using the
Golf GPS app. It works and doesn't stop during the round.

I installed the app, loaded the courses successfully. The 9 hole courses work fine, but when I start the round for 18 hole courses, the app crashes. It just closes. I use Samsung Note 8. Both the phone app as well as the fitbit app are the latest. I have already tried all the potentials fixes recommended in the previous posts. So please do not ask me to turn the tracker or the phone on and off, uninstall and reinstall the app, disconnect and reconnect the bluetooth, etc...

Thank You,

Don't bother with the Game Golf app!
It doesn't work with Android and Fitbit won't or can't help.
I switched to Golf GPS and it may not be as fancy but it works.

GPCasey,

I should have gone through these posts prior purchasing the Fitbit Ionic. The sole purpose was to use the Game Golf app. I have Game Golf Live and I thought Fitbit Ionic will be the perfect GPS range finder. After going through these threads, it looks like Fitbit/Game Golf doesn't have a fix for it. The only recommendation from these "script reading" techs are to restart the phone and the tracker, uninstall/reinstall the app, disable/enable bluetooth, etc. That's probably why Fitbit is losing customers. They need to step up and improve their services.

Regards,

I have Game Golf version 1.06 for iOS (released November 28th).  The app crashes every time I try to start a round.  It was working before this update.  From comments on this and other threads I don't get the impression that either the Game Golf folks nor the FitBit folks really care about this issue.  I will try Golf GPS to see if I have better luck.

You didn't pay attention to the fact that I was addressing Android not iOS.

That wasn’t the point.....I was just stating the iOS app doesn’t work either. Will be happy to start a new thread if it makes you feel better.
