syncing ok but not saving history

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit One is synching daily steps count just fine, but when it changes to the next day my previous day's information is no longer on the app. It has not saved any information in 15 days. This is not a problem of the device/app synching, which it does nicely every day. But rather a saving of the step count to the days previous.

Curiously if I go back about 15  days of 0 steps showing, on the 16th day in history the steps have been saved and show up. So there is this window of 16+ days including the current days as they become history, that shows the 0 steps. HELP

p.s. I have tried uninstall and reinstall of the app, twice. Open close phone.)

I’m having the same problem. Fitbit One syncs but my steps are not being saved. My data show 0 steps every day since August 26 even though it syncs fine every day.  Once I exit the app my steps revert to 0. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app, restarted my phone, the app is updated, not sure what else to do. It seems like it’s not a sync problem, its an app problem.

YAY, I'm not alone.

I've had my Fitbit One since 2016 and this has never happened before.
It's frustrating because I love seeing the accumulation at the end of each week
and now there's just 0s (zeros).
The bizarre thing is if I recall backwards through the zeros I come up to
Aug. 25 and from there on back all the data shows up.
So something happened on Aug 25 and its been zeros every day since.

It must be the app as you say, because I've tried all the sorts of things to
reboot and reinstall and shut down the device and restart, etc. and nothing helps.
So at least on the current day it does tabulate the steps.

Hope we get a solution from someone.

We are not alone. There’s another post with several people saying the same thing. Looks like we’ve all got the One and this appears to be an app issue. I hope they can fix it.

I love the One and went back to it after trying several wrist models that never proved as accurate and died after a year or so.

I sure hope they provide a fix. It is totally DISCOURAGING to not be able to see the accumulation of steps per week. Never mind my Medicare Advantage plan and AARP use that count to give me rewards and if it doesn't show on my app I don't know if I'm losing out.  I've made a capture of all the days of 0 and the days previous back in early August where all the data still shows.

Do you know if there's anyone at Google Fitbit headquarters we can contact about this. It is just beyond acceptable.

I’m having the same issue.

I have exactly the same issue with my Fitbit One (which I bought in 2014 and is still working fine!).

Hope the app will get fixed soon. It's a shame the PC-dashboard was axed or at least we'd still have that.

Interestingly enough: the weekly email report shows a total number of steps that seems right. It would be nice and helpul if in the report the number of steps was shown for every day instead of just the best day.

I have captured the past weeks  daily counts of my steps (on the app) which shows the count isn't working.

I also got a weekly email from Fitbit showing the actual steps. As you can see, the actual steps was 225,000 whereas the steps shown on the app are at on 70 (for a whole week)

The device itself works fine, but the app is showing incorrect information. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app 4 times in the past 10 days and it still continues to NOT show steps. On any given day it shows the actual steps I've taken, but at the stroke of midnight that number goes to 0Sep 2 - 8 fitbit step registered 3486x2093.jpgSep 2 - 8 fitbit step registered 3486x2093.jpg

Same exact problem. Had a long "Help Desk" chat several days ago - this was the result:

"At the moment, the developers are doing a few backend changes to the Fitbit data.  An update will be released to correct their data within the next few weeks. We apologize for the inconveniences."

When I asked if that meant others were having same issue, response was:

"That is correct. Other customers are experiencing the same issues as you are doing right now. We hope the developers can find a solution as soon as possible".
No updated app yet and I'm not feeling too optimistic....

Thank-you! Thank-you!! Thank-you!!! jlmcgar, for getting the fitbit people to actually respond.

I was losing hope that this would ever get fixed. Thank you for taking the initiative (Help Desk) jlmcgar.

My efforts with the "Help Desk" went nowhere. I hope they (tech at fitbit) provide a notice to its customers when that fix is finally available.

I hope what they said is true....I had them email me a copy of our "chat" just so I could print it out.  I've been using the One for over 10 years and rely on it a lot.   I'm kind of lost without it...    I have an Apple Watch, but don't want to wear anything on my wrist all day.

Gah! Thanks for the information. I figured it was probably the app but thought that my One might be crapping out on me. I have had it since 2014 and it is working perfectly so I really didn't want to buy a new model. I tried everything as well to no success so I gave up and ordered a new Fitbit Inspire 3 which hasn't shipped yet. I'm thinking about canceling that order now and saving the $100 and waiting until they get the app fixed. Are people with newer models of Fitbit having the same issues? My insurance is tied in with my tracker as well so I've had to be entering everything manually which is a huge pain. I love my One and really don't want to replace it. At least the Inspire 3 has the ability to take it out of the watch band and put into a clip like the One to be put on my hip or sock.

I hope this isn't something they did on purpose to force us to buy new trackers. That would be very discouraging.

Foxtail, I love my ONE, too. And I've had mine forever, as well. But I figured it HAD to be the app, because I get my weekly email from Fitbit on Monday's and it tabulates the real steps I've taken the previous week, even though the app shows 0.

Another reason it must be the app and not the device, on any given current day from 12:00am to 11:59pm the steps are shown accurately, so the failure seems to be it acknowledging the steps ON THE APP for previous days.

p.s. as for logging in your info to your insurance, if Fitbit central is able to calculate the correct number of steps for any week, maybe your insurance company is provided the actual steps, too??

As for does this only involve people with the One, I don't know.

I wish someone would get on the ball and fix this.

p.p.s. have you noticed that things have gone to hell in a handbasket since google took over.  Don't even get me started with the interface they changed from a very user-friendly, useful, colorful one, to the boring, can't find info, like whether it's charged or not, etc. now.

My One started doing this about a week ago! Now it’s taking forever to show my steps in the app, and when I go back to yesterday and the few days prior, they ALL have exactly what I did today. I’ve reset my One, done everything with my IPhone possible. So frustrating… now that I see others are experiencing the same problem it makes me wonder if they’re trying to force us to upgrade. I’ll switch to another brand before that happens.

MsMax like you I have been getting my weekly email and going WTH? as my step count is there but not the individual days. I've been entering the steps that my One shows into my insurance app just before I hit the sleep function but I know that isn't entirely accurate. Closer than NOT of course. I decided to go ahead and keep the Inspire 3 that is on its way since I checked with my other friends who have FB's (but not Ones) and their apps are all working fine so I'm guessing it's just us that are having issues. Sounds like they may be forcing us to upgrade to newer models. Or forcing us out as the case may be. I was incredibly disappointed when they killed the computer dashboard as it was so much easier to get around in than the phone app and the graphics were better. I haven't linked my FB account to Google yet as that feels like one more knee bowing down to the mighty G that I don't want to deal with. I hope that the app gets fixed soon for everyone as they are gonna lose customers over this.

I did a follow-up "help desk chat" today.  Pretty much same response as last week. They are aware of the issue and are working on it.  Ugh....

Thank you for mentioning the weekly email  status, I hadn't thought of checking that! I have the exact same problem, August 27-present show ZERO, but the email shows the steps so I'm glad to know the information isn't lost! I love my ONE and was thinking it was just getting faulty and ordered an Inspire 3, but may return it after reading this thread! Hopefully they will get it fixed soon!

As my step count is built into my insurance cost at work I went ahead and kept the Inspire 3 coming. I set it up yesterday and voila! Step count is showing up in the Fitbit app as well as my insurance app. It does make me resentful that someone messed with the One data and kinda forced my hand. I'll miss my hard working One that lasted ten years and was still going strong when they did this. I'm doubtful the Inspire 3 will last anywhere near that long. I hope Fitbit gets the One data back up and working soon for all involved. 😞

DaMommas, I'm wondering that, too - forcing us to upgrade. I don't understand why, though. The unit itself works great and it's lasted and lasted over ten years in my case. It's like a Timex, keeps ticking and ticking.😄

But on another note, just today I found this article on Google and its plans for I'm fit to be tied, and not in a good way.
