How to activate 1 year free premium?

ANSWERED

I received my Fitbit Inspire 2 yesterday.  It says it comes with a 1 year free premium subscription.

When I want to activate the free premium trial, it only mentions 90 days.  I can nowhere select 1 year.

What do I need to do ?

Just in case this helps anyone now or in the future, I created a video showing how to activate the 1-year free trial of Fitbit Premium on Inspire 2.

You can watch it on my YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/OrKc0ol1Nkg

Follow along as I show you how to activate your 1-year free trial of Fitbit Premium that comes with the Fitbit Inspire 2. I also show you how to cancel your Fitbit Premium subscription so you won't be charged after your free trial ends. If you are using an Android Phone, you might find this video

I am in contact with Fitbit Support who have advised me to log out/log in to the app, uninstall/reinstall but nothing seems to work. I just get the message "google play store is not available" (however I can use play store otherwise). On the website there's only the 90 day free trial, I agree. I pointed this out to them. All very frustrating!

I was also in contact with Fitbit Support over chat.  They forwarded my question to higher level support and I am waiting for more information over email now.

I got an email today from fitbit support.  They told me that "Upon checking, we have seen that you have a Fitbit Premium subscription on the email address that you have used to contact us on where your Fitbit account is linked to ..." and they asked me some screenshots of the app which I provided.  To be continued.

@lonelypitcher @LJWitchell A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for getting in touch about this.

I appreciate that you mentioned you've been in contact with our Support team. If you’re a current Fitbit Premium subscriber, you can start the free trial after you cancel your premium subscription. You’ll see your free trial offer for Fitbit Premium in the Fitbit app within 3 days after your current subscription period ends.

If you’re not a current Fitbit Premium subscriber, you can start the free trial after you purchase and set up Fitbit Inspire 2.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions!

Hi @SilviaFitbit , thanks for your reply.

I have received an email from Fitbit support saying that Fitbit Premium is not available in Belgium so that would explain everything.

On the other hand Belgian and Dutch stores are advertising the Fitbit Inspire 2 with the 1 year free premium subscription.  So I am in touch with my local store now to get this clarified.

Hi SilviaFitbit,

Does this mean we start the 90 days free trial then get the 1 year premium trail?

I too am new to Fitbit and purchased a Fitbit inspire 2 yesterday.

@lonelypitcher Thank you for getting back. I appreciate that you shared the reply you received from our Support team, Fitbit Premium is available worldwide in English only.

@FiftyFitnFab Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Your Fitbit Premium subscription will activate as soon as you set up your Fitbit Inspire 2, in case you're already subscribed to a free trial, you need to cancel it and the free trial offer for Fitbit Premium will appear in the Fitbit app within 3 days after your current subscription period ends.

@SilviaFitbit , there's a difference in your reply saying that "Fitbit Premium is available worldwide in English only" and the reply I got from the Fitbit suppot team over email saying that "Fitbit Premium is not available in Belgium and The Netherlands".

So do you mean that if I install the app in English the Fitbit Premium feature will appear ?

By the way, just changed the language of my Android phone to English, but that does not make "Fitbit Premium" visible in the Fitbit app.

Just an update.  The second time I opened the Fitbit app it asked me whether I wanted to start my free Fitbit Premium trial of 1 year which I did.  Now how do I know all features are there ? I saw that in the Fitbit Coach app all programmes and workouts got unlocked.  But what should it show more or differently in the Fitbit app itself ?

@lonelypitcher Thank you for getting back.

I'm glad to hear that after you opened the Fitbit app your Fitbit Premium app showed up, I apologize for any misunderstanding. However I can confirm that Fitbit Premium is available worldwide in English only.

Fitbit Premium features will be found in the "Discover" tab of your Fitbit app and you'll find the following features:

- Guided Programs

- Challenges and Adventures

- Premium workouts and Fitbit Coach

- Mindfulness sessions

- Personalized insights

Yes. I also signed up for premium thinking that I would get 1 year trial but then it only said 60 days or whatever. I signed up any way and thought maybe it would update. It didn't.

Most companies do this false advertising gig these days. I think we just need to get used to being lied to as consumers these days.

I'd care more if I didn't like the extra features bit will admit that I wasn't too thrilled to be lied to by fitbit.

FYI...You really don't address the issue with the 90 day trial vs the 1 year and why we are lied to and only end up with 90 days. It's false advertising.

@isthiswrite A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thank you for getting in touch about this.

Your feedback is appreciated, I totally understand where you're coming from. Just wanted to let you know that the 1 year free Premium trial activates as soon as your Fitbit Inspire 2 is set up

It sounds like you signed up for the 90-day free trial which is available to anyone new to Fitbit Premium, please cancel it and the free trial offer for Fitbit Premium will appear in the Fitbit app within 3 days after your current subscription period ends.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions!

Yesterday I purchased a Fitbit Inspire 2 and set it up, all working fine, recording sleep, steps etc...and synching fine with the app.

I am not a current Fitbit Premium subscriber, but I did not received an option to start the free trial after I set up my Fitbit Inspire 2.

On the app it just gives me 1 option, a $14.99 option to subscribe.   Shouldn't there be a Free Option ???

Best Answer

Ok instead of using my phone I opend the app on my tablet, lo and behold the 12mth free sub option was showing on that device so I joined up.   All good now.

Hi, My Mom got a new Inspire 2  Fitbit today and it is supposed to come with a year free Premium trial.  She is 71 and I am trying to help her with the set up over the phone but it is very confusing and difficult.  She only sees the 90 day free trial but the product information listed at Target clearly says that the Inspire 2 has a free year Premium that comes with purchase.

Please help me!
