Hello everyone.

I understand that blocking and reporting them to our support team is not the idea situation but please know that this is being looked into. We truly appreciate your help in this situation and understand how frustrating this must be.

Let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with.

Matthew T. Is the person I'm reporting. Not do be offensive, but his profile pick is a very fat dude... I have seen some of his posts, every post has several swear words in it, also they are always putting another Fitbit user down or being rlly rude. I sent them a friend request to keep track of their posts. If I see much more innapropiate behavior, I will report report him again. Thank you!

@LanuzaFitbit@uhligeast@SunsetRunnerMales receive these troll's advances from apparent males and females too. I say apparent because; there is no way to know if the human behind the profile is the gender described. Perhaps by now it has been automated as a software robot as well.  One disturbing Fitbit advance was to allow a joining profile without a tracker to connect to. My experience is that things have been much worse since then.  I get that it might be "nice"  to have your known friends join without investing in a tracker and use a smartphone, but not even a traceable phone is required to join   I reject that a free platform benefits from that troll friendly portal.  The disruption potential far exceeds the benefit to all Fitbit tracker owners.  Hmm, was it a way to pad the "active user" stat for marketing??

Wow, that is truly awful (in my opinion) if Fitbit allows users on the site without even having a Fitbit device. Sort of contrary to the whole idea of using a Fitness tracker in the first place!

@uhligeast @LanuzaFitbit  Yes contrary, to every bit of any "legitimate" purpose fit. Further it is a substantial waste of band width and system response for a heavily loaded system. What Fitbit  "partner" could be purchasing access to the data, that may encourage an even more refined troll farming of the site.

Sadly locking down one's account as suggested here limits valuable and for me truly beneficial community growth.

@LanuzaFitbit @uhligeast  See what I mean now?  This is an example of a free trial Fitbit member created with a fictitious email, for a user that is a labeled female 9 foot 900 pounds with a Gmail.com gender of Automaton !? The script I used could have run recursively fabricating emails, and Fitbit users to any number I chose.  It is actually .a concerned user messing around with little or no programing experience for the modern age. If fitbit wats to brag about accuracy and algorithms please let them do the right thing and clean up their social media portal we rely on.

@NotBitFitMayhem@LanuzaFitbit@uhligeast@CityLionSo this is a very preventable portal to easily bring chaos and mayhem along with apprarent "person" causing harassment of actual Fitbit fitness seekers.  My new fake friend should neither have existed so easily, nor any of the process be able to be accomplished by a script. These are trying times. I know fit bit is trying to make it work well for users and for sales all of the time.  This area needs attention and work at this time.

I keep getting them, too.  These guys are either scammers (all seem to have broken English) or they think this is a dating site.  Really tired of them.

@FLGardener  one thing that helps is to change your avatar. They don't need to see your real self and it seems to protect a bit more to have a more generic image displayed. You're right about their broken English. It's almost as though they watched an old movie and tried imitating it, too. So many think "my dear" is an acceptable greeting from a stranger. I just ignore them.

You are right about that - I've been wasting their time and asking questions they don't want to answer, and then telling them to bugger off and unfriending them.  LOL - Works for me.

@FLGardener  guess you like to do the same with telemarketers? It's amazing how you can waste their time.

I'm pretty thick-skinned, and I figure if I make their lives difficult for a while, maybe they won't be so aggressive with some of our more vulnerable ladies.  And yes, I do the same with aggressive telemarketers if I have the time.  I'm a retired paralegal and am wise to the BS they sling.  It's so sad that these vermin prey on lonely women.  I can almost understand it on a dating site, but people are here to get fit and maybe make a few like-minded friends.

Perhaps Fitbit could make a section for warning people about these predators - If it's already been done, I certainly haven't found it yet.  Just a sections that warns that if the person sending the request has few photos and no Fitbit interaction, they most likely want to chat you up and con you out of money.  Just sayin'!

Is there still no way to report porn spammers? This thread is YEARS old. You need to implement a review process. Seriously.

So I too have a random stranger reaching out.  If it truly is just someone who wants to be in a healthy living group discussion, that’s fine.  I have casually mentioned my husband.  But this person has started asking where I live.  If he’s just socially awkward, that’s ok.  But on his actual Fitbit profile page, he has no recent active steps, which is odd.  His name is Burne E.

Hi @LeighAnne  sometimes a person isn't comfortable with the language, sometimes they are socially awkward, but why target an individual rather than post on the forums ?  If you need to, be blunt with them and tell them to post in public and don't respond to personal questions. I get a few people messaging me and I tell them to keep it in the public forum area. We don't know who a person is, so all we can do is judge by their behavior on the forums and to be safe. Glad you're alert and staying safe.
