Jaunty July Step Challenge

ANSWERED

The Jumping June step challenge is nearly over so it’s time to sign up for July.  Jaunty July?  Yeah, well, it is super hot in the Northern hemisphere, and super cold in the Southern hemisphere, so it is best just to have a little attitude about your steps and get at it.  🙂

How It Works:

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Here are my goals for July

-5 Jaunty Walks -- not sure exactly what will qualify, but some silliness, maybe some lunges, or arm circles 🙂
-15K steps/day
-1 pushup/day (I always do more, but this goal gets me into position!)
-14 weight-lifting days

- 50 floors or more for 20 days

-Sleep 6+ hours 12 days or more during the month.  (I have been trying to hit this since March, but no luck so far).

Have a great weekend!

Thanks @Baltoscott for our (Jolly) Jaunty July Step Challenge! 😊

Still mulling over the goals for July, but here’s a first draft — to be confirmed in the next day or so.

My goals

8,000 steps 12/31 days

15,000 steps 10/31 days

35 Jumping Jacks 22/31 days

Floor Exercises w/weights 12/31 days

I want to leave weekends open {no point being invited or having guests and I find myself wishing people would leave so I can meet my goals}.

@NellyGI'm with @SeleneD -- It's beautiful! [My eyes just turned a shade or two greener!] I didn't realize you could have a flower on the Versa.... May wish for a very early birthday gift (not due until Oct)!

As I understand the rules, we can set whatever goal we like, but there is no mention of when we need to set the goals. The main purpose is to measure consistency. I hope you don't mind if I track Fitbit miles instead of steps.

I've been using the chart below to track my total miles since 6/1/18. Notice it has a goal for the end of June and July. What is not apparent is these goals, including all goals in the past, change each day based on the total miles I've walked since 6/1/18. Therefore, I can't miss reaching my goal every day. 🙂

But the ideas is to measure consistency. Here is the chart since 6/1/18. As you can see, I've been consistent.

I certainly didn't match my goals in June, but lets set them for July:

1) 11,000 steps each day

2) daily push ups (1 or more)

3) 7h sleep average each week

4) decluttering/cleaning/yardwork each day

5) checking in each day

1) 1/31

2) 1/31

3) just realised I hadn't synced all day.... will update tomorrrow

4) 1/31 - even though it's stinking hot I did manage to do some weeding late in the day

5) 1/31

It's been brutally hot here over our long weekend.  Since I'm not working, the specific day doesn't matter.  I have my third interview for a job I would really like on Wed so wish me luck.  If nothing else it will get me into a routine.  Smiley Very Happy

hah, so I ended June with exactly 376,000 steps.  Certainly didnt plan such a precise number.

14563 steps, but only 2500 burn yesterday.  I did have very low NEAT yesterday.  Took 3 short walks, but was basically a potato in between. I finished my book though.

The college is running a scouting tournament this weekend and into today so my son has been hanging out and they have been nice enough since they know him to allow him to stay there free and they give him a $1 in concessions for every foul ball he retrieves from the surrounding bushes and he got to be a batboy for one game.  He's hoping he gets to do that again today.
