Can you believe it? 2022 is already half gone. Best get yourself outside before you miss the whole year! And a reminder that if you happen to see this for the first time mid-month, jump on in; there is no need to wait for another challenge to start next month.
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to encourage you to set and hit your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures
The theme this month is a parade, a celebration, or other outside event or a famous landmark. In the US there should be plenty of material on or around July 4. Elsewhere it might be a market or someplace near you that regularly shows up in the paper or on television.
Posting
Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

@Carrie71, that's a serious bit of fallen tree! It looks like it could have been a lot worse, so I hope it's not too bad.
Did you hear it go down?

Just two days left. I'm planning to hit my "Beat July 2021" bike goal today (July 30). Very likely will make it as it's a nice day for a bike ride. If so, I will have beat my monthly mileage for every month so far this year. Although total annual mileage probably won't be more than 10% over 2021, I'm beginning to realize that beating 2022 every month in 2023 might will really be a challenge.
@Carrie71, hopefully you don't have any leaks in the roof from that tree attack, so you'll have some time to get the repairs done. Glad no one got hurt. How have you been doing on your 'beat last year' goals?
@Vidd -- I think you are doing more daily steps than the rest of us combined. Are you trying to maintain your current pace year-over-year, or are you still trying to increase?

@Baltoscott, I've been counting steps for the last ten years, and gradually increased over that time. This year I've decided to go for a big number, but I'll step back quite a bit after that, as my dog and I aren't getting any younger. I'll be getting my pension in November!

@Vidd what a mess that was! Yes, I was upstairs working on converting my daughter's room into my office and all of a sudden I heard something similar to fireworks or thunder. I looked out the window and saw a branch go by. I thought, that's strange this room is over garage, I shouldn't be seeing any branches!
@Baltoscott no leaks! We just got the tree down yesterday so will be calling a roofer to come take a look, One gutter is bent and some of the flashing looks bent but I don't think it did much more damage than that. We got very lucky. I am not sure what the heck I was doing last July to get so many steps - LOL. Didn't meet my goals for this July but hoping to do better in August!
