So the app has decided it can't find my Inspire 3 it starts by not syncing this has happened a few times normally I just restart my phone and all is good, this time I restared my phone 3 times no success, I then removed the device from the App so could add again which has also worked before but now it cant find the device at all, so I have tried several other things.
So far I've restarted the fitbit itself. Turned Bluetooth off then back on. Unistalled the App and reinstalled.
I've done all these at least 5 times aswell as restarting my phone several more times nothing is working. Any ideas on what to do next other than getting rid of the fit bit and tryibg a galaxy fit watch instead.

For anyone having sync problems running 4.28 App SW and 188 device FW (either from the Factory or after performing a Factory Reset), if you can download 4.26 App SW to get things working again, just download the latest device FW after that and then everything will continue working when the App SW is updated again.

Bill_209, can you provide the steps you followed to get version 4.26 downloaded? Thank you!

You will need to use the App referred to by @tallful above to download 4.26.

Same problem here. Two year old fitbit. Worked fine until 2 days ago. Did all of the recommended fixes. Bluetooth on the phone works fine with other apps.
Error message: "There was an error while trying to bluetooth pair your device. Would you like to try again". "Yes". I have been trying for the past 2 days. VERY frustrated!

Yes, very annoying. I loved it when it worked, but not so much anymore.

Someone mentioned earlier that Google was aware of this sync issue, so I'm sure that another App update will be released soon to resolve it.

ok, thanks! I did manage to get it installed and working from another similar app to up and down. Now, my question is, do you know how to keep it from getting automatically updated with the bad 4.28 version? Play store has it pending and I know it's going to auto update soon. I'm guessing that there may be a setting someplace to keep this from happening?

ignore my question regarding how to not allow auto update. I found how to set that. Thanks for your assistance!!!

If you've successfully installed version 4.26 of the Fitbit app, do the following to prevent it from being automatically updated to the bad 4.28 version:

I have tried all these steps NUMEROUS times with no luck. I even went out and bought a new tracker, thinking maybe that was the issue. I had my husband try, as he is more tech savvy than I am. No luck. Fitbit won't even allow us to set up the new tracker. We tried signing in on my husband's phone, thinking maybe it was an issue with the phone. No luck.
There's another app I'm a member of (StepBet), where you pay to be in challenges. If you make your steps, you're reimbursed for your entry fee. Thanks to my issues with Fitbit, I have suffered a monetary loss. I am very dissatisfied with Fitbit and certainly won't purchase another one in the future. I've owned several through the years and have generally been satisfied, but this is the last straw.

I've gotten to that point, too, and then it will tell me something went wrong, to "try again."

I've had the same thing happen. It's spinning right now.

Me, too. I'm out $120 on my StepBet app, and I just spent $105 on another Inspire 3. So now I have two of them that don't work.

As discussed above, my problem appears solved.
Uninstaller app
Went to Up-to-down app store and downloaded ver 4.26
Took some login and permissions to get it installed
Initially would not pair with phone. but then it did sync
I went back and paired the phone and it just paired.
So fully recovered.
I disabled auto update to 4.28 so I assume I'm running 4.26
Still show firmware update needed but no way to do it and I would not anyway. Running 188 cer

It you purchased a new Inspire 3 device, then it is probably running with version 188 of the FW, because the Factory typically ships devices with the same version of FW for quite some time, even though many new releases of FW have been released since 188 was released. New devices are then upgraded to the latest FW after a customer sets them up and uses them for awhile.
If a device was shipped running 188 FW, gets upgraded to 210 FW and then gets a Factory Reset after that, the device will revert back to running 188 FW after the Factory Reset.
The latest version 4.28 of the App SW appears to be incompatible with version 188 of the Inspire 3 device FW for BT pairing and syncing so, no new devices or any device that had a Factory Reset performed on it (which is something that the CS team will recommend doing for unexplained behaviors) will work with version 4.28 of the App SW.
Therefore, any Inspire 3 device that is running with version 188 FW will simply be a brick until Google releases another update to the App SW to resolve this FW/SW incompatibility issue, which will hopefully happen very soon.
I'm a little disappointed that one of the Moderators on this forum didn't chime in and make this clear to everyone, in an attempt to calm things down, because they are most assuredly aware of this issue.

My friend has the Inspire 3 and has had no problems since he has a iPhone.
I connected my fitbit to a iPhone device and there were no problems with syncing.
This problem only seems to happen on the android version of the fitbit app.

Update: I Have found a temporary fix!
The newest version of the fitbit app is broken and something in it is messing with the syncing.
So if you download an older version it should sync again.
I downloaded version 4.26.1 and it worked fine again.
