Fitbit Inspire not counting steps and not displaying on the app

My fitbit isn't showing how far I walked, isn't counting active minutes, isn't counting any steps, and is no longer calculating calories accurately on the fitbit and on the App. Any guidance?

I turned off blue tooth and location services both then only turned back on blue tooth since I don’t want to leave that on (burns my battery fast!), and then synced again and it’s now the same and working correctly.

Mine has stopped working as well! I’ve emailed the company but have not heard back yet.

Hi @Cass6812 and @Cornflower73 nice to see that you're digging into the Forums, let me give you a warm welcome to our Community.

Thanks for sharing this information with us. This is not a normal behavior of the Fitbit Inspire, it should be able to track all your stats; you can try to restart your Fitbit with these instructions:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Hold the other end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the tracker until it attaches magnetically. The pins on the charging cable must connect securely with the port.
  3. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 5 seconds.
  4. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

Your device should now work normally, once your Fitbit Inspire starts tracking your data again you can sync your Fitbit and all the information should be transferred to the Fitbit App.

Mine hasn't tracked any activity for 3 days. No steps, sleep, actuve minutes, not even the ten minute reminder notification. I reset it per the instructions you've provided and it still isnt tracking anything. It took a lot longer than 5 seconds to reset.

Yesterday was my first day for my new Inspire and it worked perfectly. It also tracked my sleep overnight and that is great as well. I have been up for more than an hour today and actively doing chores around the house and it hasn't tracked a single step. Battery charge is above 80%. I reset it using the method suggested and now it has started tracking steps ... but if this happens again tomorrow then I am returning it for a refund. I don't have time to go connect it to my PC every morning to reset it and I won't. I used a Flex for a long time and it worked perfectly, and I expect the same level of function from this Inspire.

PS: I updated the firmware to the latest available before i started using it yesterday.

So I followed the directions above and then it still wouldn’t count my steps at all because it was telling me to turn on location services (iPhone). I turned it on and it was tracking steps but after syncing it showed more steps on my Fitbit app than the tracker itself. I looked at another article which said to turn off blue tooth and turn back on again

I just purchased a brand new inspire and have the same issue right off the bat. I’ll try restarting as stated and tell the results. I’ve had two other fitbits and never had problems.

Hi @Cornflower73 thanks for getting back and for trying the restart on your Inspire HR. Sorry for the delay. I'd like to know what you can see on the display of your Fitbit. Is it able to sync? Can you see data on the Fitbit App?

@MPeters0079 Thanks for trying the suggested steps. Before to continue with the next steps, I'd like to know what  you can see on the display of your Fitbit. Is this responding when trying to charge it? Have you tried to set it up?

@TJHarding and @Charlie2869 You've done an excellent job troubleshooting your Fitbit. Good to hear that it is working now after the all the steps that you both have followed. Please keep me posted.

I'll be around.

It took a while, but I was finally able to get it to reset. Seems to be counting now, and its making up for lost time,as now every bump in the road is also counted. It looks like I ran halfway to MO today.  I attempted to do the most recent upload. It says it could take 10 to 15 minutes. I leave the app on, plug my phone in, set the inspire on the phone and walk away. This last time it tried to take the update over 2 hours with no luck. It syncs fine. I dont care about calories or minutes of excercise, I just try to keep track of my steps, which are now wrong, and I keep up with my sleep. The last two fitbits I had were great. I do not like this inspire as much.

Hi @MPeters0079 thanks for getting back. My apologies for the delay.

Thanks for the heads up, good to hear that your Inspire HR is working again. Thanks for all the steps that you tried. In regards to the number of steps that your Inspire HR is tracking. I'd recommend to take a look of this article, that explains the accuracy of Fitbit trackers.

If your Fitbit is not finishing the update please check if your mobile device is up to date. Then follow these steps:

Make sure your device is charged and follow these steps:

  1. Turn your device off and on again, and retry the update. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  2. Restart your phone, and retry the update.
  3. Log in to your Fitbit account on a different device, and retry the update.

Let me know how it goes.

I had to hold the button for almost 2 minutes. Now it tracks steps and every bump in the road while I drive. I have to hit the button again to make the clock show because just turning my wrist doesn't work. I miss my old fit bit. Much more reliable.

Hi @MPeters0079 sorry for the delay, thanks for trying those steps and for sharing your feedback. Adjust your Screen Wake setting by pressing and holding the button for two seconds, when the Screen Wake setting is on, it should be showing your clock face when turning your wrist towards you.

Keep me posted.

My Fitbit randomly reset my stats during the middle of the day back to 0 (steps, active minutes, calories burned etc). My app, phone and device were up to date so I’m confused why this happened and where all my progress went and what to do so that it doesn’t happen again.

It's great to see your participation in the forums @SunsetRunner! Sorry for the delay.

Thanks for reaching out the Fitbit Community, this is not a normal behavior of the Fitbit Inspire. Have you tried the suggested steps here? Do you have another Fitbit device connected to your Fitbit account? Can you see the data from previous dates on your Fitbit account?

I'll be around waiting for your response.
