Custom stats not saving

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After the new OS update, I am unable to save my custom stats. I like to view particular things when I run, bike, etc. I work out 2-4 times a day, and it is frustrating to have to reset these before every single exercise. Anyone know what is going on with it?

@SantiR

Updated.  Reset.  Still not working for Run on my Versa.  Have not tested the other apps.

Another data point: I updated my running cue from .5 (the Ionic default) to 1.0 miles (the more universal runner's default); I updated both the ionic and the IOS app. I've had the latest OS installed for over a week (27.32.10.15)

Neither change held for long; the default returned to .5 miles within 4 hours. In relation to the many other Ionic 'issues' the cue-settings issue has become something I've resigned myself to (since October 2017)

As a system designer and programmer, this issue would seem to be the easiest thing to fix. Yet for fitbit it seems an impossibility. I've got to think this implies something about their software design; I just can't guess what that might be.

@bmw54 I had the same problem with the lap setting changing back to .5 mile until I changed it on the desktop dashboard under exercise cues (opposed to just changing it through the app on directly on the Ionic). It seems to stay on 1 mile that way, at least for me so far going on a week now. You might have tried that already but if not it's worth a shot.

thanks @jwebb72,

I changed the dashboard setting to 1.0 mile. Then I checked the IOS App: it showed 1.0 mile. Then I checked my Ionic: it shows 1.0 mile. Very nice!

Hopefully none of this reverts to the .5 default. I'll be watching.

Thanks again.

@livvers @jwebb72 @SunsetRunner @sandy.b @pied314per @bmw54 Thanks for all of your replies and for providing all of that helpful information regarding the custom stats not saving.

I will send your reports to our team to keep checking on this. I will provide you with any updates as soon as I have some.

In the meanwhile, I've seen that some users got this working by changing those stats on the online dashboard. Please use this workaround in the meanwhile this gets resolved. Let me know if this works fine for you or if it still not saving.

Thanks again for your patience. Keep me posted!

@SantiR Thanks for your assistance. Are there any instructions on how to configure the custom stats (for what shows up on the top/middle/bottom during exercise) in the dashboard? I can't seem to find a way to do this.

I did a factory reset of my Fitbit Iconic and set custom stats. The custom stats stayed as expected until I synced the Iconic with the app.  After the sync, all the custom stats reset themselves to the default setting.

@livvers: these are the only stats I've been able to consistently change since I got my ionic in October. Here's what I do (on the watch itself):

1. go to the Run app/exercise

2. touch the gear icon (settings)

3. scroll down to the 'Customize Stats' bar and touch it.

4. then you should see three bars; Top Stat, Middle Stat and Bottom Stat.

5. Top and Bottom Stats allow you to choose one statistic; choose from their selection list.

6. Middle Stat on the watch is scrollable, so you can select/de-select whatever stats you want.

I've done this on paper ahead of time, so I de-select from the Middle stats those that I selected for Top and Bottom. Then I selected only the stats I really needed to see when running; I don't like to scroll past tons of stats while 'on the road'.

When you're finished, just press the left button to leave 'Customize Stats'. Continue clicking if you don't need any other changes.

On my Ionic these are the only exercise stats that haven't reverted to factory settings. Hopefully that's the same for you.

@SantiR  Did you look at the online dashboard before posting?  I cannot find the custom stats setting...

While I originally thought the custom stats were sticking. It was true
only until I synced my Ionic with my phone.

Custom Stats are still not very custom.

My settings for the notification interval and custom stats are sticking now, but the notification that displays at each interval only includes the total distance, interval duration, and total distance again. If I click the left button on my watch at any other time during my workout I see the values I selected for the custom stats. I used to see whatever I'd selected for my custom stats in the interval notification, which is what I'd prefer to see - how do I get that to work again?

I have the exact same issue since the last firmware update to the Ionic. None of the custom stats for the exercises are saved, and I have to set them to my preferences every time before I perform the exercise. The issue, as stated by others here, happens whenever the tracker syncs, reverting all customization to the stats back to default.

Like many others here, I have followed the instructions and removed the Ionic from my account, unpaired it from the Fitbit app, performed a factory reset of the Ionic, reinstalled the Fitbit app on my Android phone, paired the Ionic with the app again, and reconfigured everything, all to avail. As soon as I synced the Ionic, all custom stats were erased and replaced by the default ones.

This is extremely annoying issue, and considering how many people are having this problem, this should be near the top of the list of bug fixes for Fitbit. Yet, it seems, they think it's more important to keep releasing new trackers instead of fixing their broken software. Shame on you, Fitbit. Regardless, I really hope this is fixed soon or I will be returning my Ionic and buying a Garmin.

@ErickB. I too am looking at Garmin.  This is the 4th fitbit I've owned, only thing stopping me is their "ecosystem".  But the annoyance of having to set the custom display settings every day is quickly eroding that loyalty.

@SantiR. For me, this issue began happening after the new OS 2.1 firmware for Ionic. Therefore, it is safe to say that whatever is causing it has not been fixed. Smiley Mad

I tried the Garmin. The fitbit ecosystem is preferable. However, i didn't
like the Garmin. I would try the Android system with the new samsung watch
when it comes out.

This is still not fixed. Ionic, updated to 27.32.10.15, factory reset, updated to 27.32.10.15 again. Current version of Android app.

I've decided to stop syncing my watch until this is sorted out.

Hello everyone! Sorry for my delayed response. Thanks for your participation on this thread regarding the custom stats not saving.

For those asking, on the online dashboard device settings page, you can change the exercise cues, interval workout, and auto pause for exercises. The rest of the custom stats can only be changed on Ionic.

Our team is still investigating this to have a fix. Thanks for your reports, they are very helpful for Fitbit. I will share with you any updates.

Thanks for your patience. Keep me posted!

As I previously reported, I followed @jwebb72's advice and changed lap settings from .5 to 1.0 miles. Unlike previous attempts, after almost a week the setting has not reverted back to .5

This is the first my Ionic has retained my custom settings since receiving it last October, thanks for your help.

Do we have any update on a fix? It is extremely frustrating to purchase a $250 device to have basic options not work correctly.

Installed the new firmware today, guess I was one of the lucky first 30%. After preliminary testing it appears the exercise custom stats are sticking now. Must perform a restart after installation. I'll update in a few days.
