I have now attempted to update my Fitbit Ionic to OS 2.0 three times and it keeps failing. It loads for about 2 hours and then just stops. I have followed all the instructions and searched Fitbit's "Help Article" for failed Ionic updates. I have only had this Fitbit Ionic for a few months and have had more technical difficulties with it than with any other electronic in this price range. I just reached out to customer service but am considering trying to get a refund on the device. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it?

The issue has finally been resolved. I had to completely factory reset my Ionic and delete and reinstall the Fitbit app on my phone.

I have the same problem, and now my Ionic won't pair with my iPhone anymore. I updated the Fitbit app to see if that solved it, but no luck. Tried updating the OS again today but obv that doesn't work now that the phone just keeps "searching" for the watch without connecting. Is this an iPhone problem or is it a Fitbit problem I wonder?
Mine is also pretty new, bought it in end of January.

I'm having the same exact problem...new Iconic in December, trouble syncing steps, now trouble in updating the new OS. GOOD GRIEF!!!! For the price, I'm so disappointed and not sure what to do.....😖😤

Have experienced the same issue with failed updates.
Have reset the Ionic many times, my phone many times, deleted the device and reset it up, tried it on a Windows 10 device with the app, a 3G USB internet dongle and land line internet................ all with a failure when the blue screen on the phone reaches around 5-10% i guess.
Getting a little more than frustrated to say the least.
Why can the update not be done via the cable when a cable is supplied - would make the whole job a lot quicker and less of a timewasting hassle.
Come on Fitbit - want to lead the market, act like market leaders! Sort this out.

Same happening to me. Ionic failed to update and since then it wasn't able to connect to phone anymore... Had to reboot phone a couple of times, reset the ionic and restart the Bluetooth and suddenly it finally was able to sync.
I then tried to update again it was syncing with no errors but again the sync failed, tried both wifi and Bluetooth 😣😪

Goodness!
Thank you, for same exact problem I am having!
I tried the reboot and restart on IPhone and Ionic, and like you, unfroze the dashboard. It is working but just showing the update to be done. (It was 90% done, when froze)
I am not wanting to retry, if you said it again could fail.
Did you have any luck, or other advice?
I do not see that any Tech has given us all help on this.
Like you I have been an owner of Flex, Charge HR, Blaze, and now Ionic.
Thanks,
Jane

Followup: I finally heard back from customer support. It appears that they didn't even read my description of the problem. They sent me generic troubleshooting steps that I have already tried, as I clearly explained in my first email to customer support.

I had that issue yesterday over dinner. The update finally took when I got home, which was at an off-time for the Fitbit servers. Have any of you tried updating at an off-time?

Did you lose your data?

Exactly the same resolution. Full factory reset and start as if the Ionic was just coming out of the box. The download and setup then took over 4 hours to complete!!
Now have OS2 and liking the look of it so far.

You will not get a refund, I'm sure!! The day I got my Fitbit Ionic, the band would not attach correctly. When I stood up my watch fell off and hit the floor which cracked the screen. They sent me a new band but refused to compensate for the cracked screen. It was a faulty band which made it Fitbit's fault!

I started my update at 8:30 pm and it tried to install all night long and never finished. Now my fitbit screen just stays on the fitbit logo and won't do anything.

I synced it to my phone which extracts all the latest data. But factory resetting will completely reset the ionic, like it was out of the box.

Tried resetting to factory, deleted iPhone app, redownloaded app, set up as new device.... no dice. Gets halfway thru installation and then... nothing , just stalls, for hours. I give up.

that sounds like a pain...I guess I will stick with the old OS for now... I tried to update mine last night and went to bed with it still in progress...7.5 hours later, it was still in progress, so I exited the app and it was just stuck until I restarted the watch just now. I'm pretty sure it's still the old OS, but how can I tell for sure?
thanks!
