Did you try downloading the software update via your phone? And of course ensuring it's charged.

The device is dead as in 0% battery... it will not charge and can’t be discovered to update software. It’s been plugged in for 3 days. I tried the reset option on the watch with no luck 😢

I thought I had the problem solved by striking the watch unit fairly carefully on my desk and trying a restart. This worked and I was able to charge and download the latest firmware yesterday evening. However, when I woke up this morning the watch batter was dead again. I recharged and took it to the pool about noon. After a few laps I checked the watch and it had not registered any laps and the screen went dead again. This afternoon I returned the watch to Fitbit, which isn't easy. You have to take and send them a video of trying a factory restart to prove this doesn't work and only then will they give you the OK to send the bad unit back to their warehouse. They say they will replace the unit once they get confirmation the malfunctioning unit has been received. I'm not holding my breath on the new unit working much better. If the Apple watch charge time was longer I'd switch in a hearbeat and be done with Fitbit.

I downloaded the new firmware and had the same problems with rapid discharge/blank screen.

My Ionic just died this morning. Was getting Low on battery so I went to charge it and then it went blank and won’t respond. My Wife told me not to get another Fitbit bc my last model fell apart and screen got damaged by sweat. Was hoping they would get this model right but maybe not. Bummer

I understand the problem and went through something similar. Would get it to charge but then rapid discharge and then blank screen. Took multiple chat sessions with customer service to get Fitbit to agree to replace it. I am now waiting for the replacement to arrive but my expectations are frankly low when it does. If Apple watch kept a longer charge and I was confident about its counting swim laps I'd change immediately. As their premier product Fitbit really needs to get Ionic right or they're going to fade...

Updating the software via phone/computer has worked for many people,
including me. Can't hurt to give it a try.

For me neither updating nor resetting changed the situation. So i had to send it for replacement. My new device is arrived. Thank you for this easy replacement from Turkey but i m not as enthusiastic as before to use this device. I m really dissapointed.

I had the same issue with the ionic, however you must upgrade the software through the Fitbit app then plug in to watch and should be ok. It worked for me. Unfortunately they don’t tell you about any software upgrades!

I got it back on the magic was holding the left button and bottom right WHILE plugging in and unplugging. Took about 3 times then it turned back on and was 100%.

Thanks, that actually worked for me!

Glad you got yours working that way, but it shouldn't require "magic" like that to make it work. My replacement is arriving tomorrow and I hope not to encounter the same issues down the line.

I just had that same issue.  In the middle of my run, I went to look at my heart rate and the ionic was dead!  would not reset and when I plugged it in nothing happened.  I waited about 10 minutes and tried to reset it and came on!  YAY, I was freaking out cause I really love my ionic
