Fitbit Update 1/10/19:

Hi all! Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!

Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our community discussions on-topic.

If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there. Thanks again and happy stepping!

Fitbit Update 12/26:

Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Ionic watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.

In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.

We look forward to getting you all back on track!

Fitbit Update 12/22:

We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.

We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 27.33.1.30)

We've started to roll out this update to 20% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the following:

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Ionic into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

I'm having problems with it reading my HR way too low since the update

There's still no answer on this question. I have the same problem. My watch is also stuck on version 27.32.10.20. Do we have a problem with our watch?

I take it you don't have the update prompt in the app? If so that's working like it should, you are not part of the roll out yet.

If you want to force it a factory reset is how they suggest you can force the update before it's actually avabavail to you.

I do not think factory reset is a guarantee to receive the update for each update; I believe it was an exception that was created for one of the previous OS 2.2 updates.

and low and behold the weather actually synced to the Ionic with no manual intervention (Double Dilly Dilly!)  It has done this once or twice before so I will check tomorrow and see if it is still in sync.

Much to my joy and amazement, the weather syncs with my Windows 10 mobile app as long as the app is running and has focus.  It does not appear to sync if I bring up other apps.  Still a major improvement over its previous behavior (where I would have to go to the Weather app settings and change something).

To those of you who have lost your swipe up to get to Fitbit Today, check to be sure you are running the most recent Fitbit App on your phone.  This appears to be an issue for many in this thread.  It would appear the settings you see sync from the app, so if you are on an old version this does not happen.

To all of you who are having trouble applying the update, I used to have those issues as well.  I have a feeling that my update went so well because I was running the previous update to this one (which itself did fail several times, but allowed me to continue where I left off, instead of having to start over, as all previous versions made me do).  What I am trying to say is that the newer firmware is better at updating to new versions than the older firmware was.  Once you get current I hope your future updates go as smooth as mine did this time around.

A factory reset will not force this update...I tried it twice with no luck

Hi all! Great to see that so many of you were able to get updated without too much hassle!

@SunsetRunner @jbuck79 @dgrobe2112 @Jai.m @BlakeNL As a reminder, this is a staged rollout, so not all users have been prompted to update to OS 3.0. We will be sure to keep you posted as more information becomes available.

Please note: a factory reset will not push this firmware to your device.

@kimbalips @lew67 @FitGirl96B If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the following:

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Ionic into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

@yvonnecjones If your Ionic is having issues tracking HR, I can recommend following each of the steps detailed in this article

anytime estimate on when everyone will see the 3.0 update?

I ran the update this morning and went through the calibration. But now my Ionic only displays my heart rate intermittently. Is there a way to re-calibrate the Ionic as I'm guessing that could be the issue.

Mine isn't working either and it has totally frustrated me. Tried a restart. I like to see my percentage battery and steps per hour etc and all it does when I swipe up is take me to the image I used to get by tapping the clock face

I've actually been wondering this myself. Because I think that's what is

Well the update bricked my Ionic. Called customer service and they are sending me another one.

I've been trying to update to 3.0 for the past two hours. Now my Ionic blinks the Fitbit logo. This is such BULL$HIT! The Pebble was much more reliable, easier to update, and basically just a better product. You would think after Fitbit bought all the intellectual property from Pebble that this piece of $hit, that cost over $300, would be better; however, it's not!

Mine too...

What to do now?

Have tried to reset and done the update again. After what seems to be a successful update the fitbit logo appear and after a while the watch goes in something of a boot loop whit the fitbit logo appear and dissapear for a litle while...

if the logo is in grey shades, i think this points out an ongoing update proccess. the fitbit logo while booting is normally fitbit blue/green.

Yes, I know.

Its the boot logo that keeps coming back in an infinite boot loop
