Hello Ionic family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1.2.
We started releasing this new update to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases aren’t distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside.

Thanks. It is alive again after much fiddling. Not connecting but that's not unusual 😞

My Ionic has gone wrong, don't know if related to this update, have had issues before. This is my 2nd Ionic since Feb 2019. Each time, Fitbit try to blame the phone. Whichever phone I have. Accept responsibility for the fact this item is not for for purpose & has fatal flaws.

What ARE the specific fixes? The generic line about fixes is not helpful. From what I've seen in the 6 pages of replies on this thread, 70.7.27 has done nothing to address the catastrophic issues caused by 70.7.14 and in fact appears to make things worse.

So, this update completely killed my GPS. The last update made it so it would be horribly inaccurate, now the GPS doesn't connect at all.
I was hoping this would solve it, but now I think I don't need to be patient any longer.
After updating, I also tried a factory reset, and starting from scratch, since I figure that is part of the troubleshooting, no luck.

I did likewise and still only getting flashing fitbit logo and nothing else, even after running to flat battery and recharging. Had to go back to first surge I bought in 2016 in order to track the basics. Seriously looking at Huawei GT as replacement for Ionic as Fitbit customer support don't seem to care.

I had exactly the same experience. My ionic is just out of warrant and on 22.04.20 when it updated it stopped working, I tried shuting it down, reset, factory reset but all I got and still have is an expensive flashing advert for Fitbit (flashes Fitbit logo only) I think I'll donate it to Huawei so they can use it to tell their customers what happens to Fitbit Ionic after 2 years and Fitbit don't sort out. I have had Fitbit since 2015 and my wife since 2013. Ironically my first Surge is still working but clearly not up to standard for my purposes and very dated now.

An update just like this is what killed my Fitbit Blaze just over a year after I had it. I've now had my Ionic almost that long I think, so I'm weary to update. The release notes mention no specifics to entice me, and it sounds like it's doing more people harm.

it works but cannot be calibrated, it dies the sensors and in addition to this it has synchronization problems

This update has caused my Ionic to stop working. I’ve had a black screen with the Fitbit logo for 12 hours now. I can’t perform a hard reset- nothing happens.

Okay everyone, I was able to get mine to stop blinking the logo and finally shut off (no thanks to fitbit). I can't remember exactly what I did but it was a combination of the sequence to force the Ionic to shut off. When I got it right the logo briefly blinked on, then right back off, I let go of the buttons and it stayed off. From there I followed the steps for a factory reset, but again I don't think it was the exact steps or amounts of time to press hold etc. I do remember letting go of the bottom right button, then I got a vibrate...finally. The fitbit turned on and was ready to pair/update/etc.
Sorry I can't remember my exact process as I was frustrated and just trying anything possible. Over the weekend all seemed to work normally. Battery life seems the same. Messages come through. I did need to re-load my clock faces, they didn't work at first. I will be going for a jog later today to test out the gps/tracking functionality.
For those of you with the blinking fitbit logo there is still hope (besides 25% off a new one), that's where I was. Just look up the steps for Ionic reset, force shut down, hard reset, factory reset, etc. and keep trying over and over.
I will update again after my jog this evening.

Updated firmware to 27.70.7.27. Ionic battery is draining much faster than usual.Battery used to last about 3 days before firmware update. Now drains from 100% to dead after a few hours. Have to charge up again about twice a day. Need issue resolved. (How do I reset back to 27.6.11 for now?)

Fitbit OS 4.1.2 Firmware update (70.7.27) to my IONIC watch rendered it completely unusable, as it will not turn back on. This has become a huge problem for many users,
and since the device is past the warranty period unlikely to be resolved. This was an update heavily promoted on the application which manages the device, and there was no warning of any kind that this would render the device unusable.

Well I went to do the update last night. My Ionic is dead this morning. Will not turn on, will not charge, will not do anything. Cannot "find a fix" anywhere. Apparently, I am not the only one. What say you, Fitbit?
I am frustrated to say the least.

I like the changes on language, finely Portuguese is available on Fitbit app for Android, but on ionic watch Portuguese is not available, I'm don't see not so different on this new update, but everything works well after the update.

My Ionic is not working! I wasn't sure what was happening but found this and it seems to be in timing with this update release. I was on chat support for nearly an hour to fix who finally told me my fitbit is dead and they'd give me a 25% discount on something new. Was like WHAT???? Why exactly would I purchase another product from a company who gave me two years from their product?! This is ridiculous. The whole thing is very suspect... my watch was fine before this update, then all of a sudden BAMMM, ya'll go buy a new one; it's a like a controlled repurchase. CRAZY!
