Hello Ionic family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1.2.
We started releasing this new update to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases aren’t distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside.

I updated too and it stopped working as well! I have tried all the usual resets and nothing! Fitbit needs to sort this out or there are going to be thousands of very unhappy customers...

This update left me with a blank screen and non-functional Ionic.

Exercises on Ionic now show up with tiny, some indecipherable, icons. No names. Too small to see in bright daylight. So small it’s easy to accidentally start the wrong one. No words on any exercise screen on the ionic, so I don’t know i accidentally hit “swim” when I intended to hit “walk” until I sync the ionic & look at the app.
Customer support could not tell me where to find a list of all icons so I could try to learn what they are.
i carefully selected in the app which exercises show up on my icon & in what order. After this update I can’t tell if they’re the same or different.
Icons are way too small on ionic screen, too easy to hit wrong one, I’ve already done that repeatedly this am.

I updated mine yesterday morning and it was working great. It was fully charged at 100% before I went to bed, I woke up this morning with it being completely dead. I use the watch for my alarm, so obviously it didn't go off and I was late to work. NOT OK.

And exercise stats (which used to show at end of exercise) are now blank.

This killed my Ionic

Its the same lame stuff isnt it. No details on what the update addresses, weighed against multiple reports of bricked devices once again. Thanks but no thanks, after the trouble it took to get Fitbit to man up and replace the Ionic they killed with a poorly executed update previously, I'll just stick to whatever version I am running now. If my device updates and bricks, its not because of anything I willingly chose to do. I keep "x"ing out the invitation to update, but is it going to inflict this on me automatically at some point? Why cant I just permanently tell the stupid thing to just pass on any updates?

Went for a run earlier, GPS seems much more stable after this update, fingers crossed 😁👍

LOL "learn more about new features, improvements and bug fixes"
I wish!
"This release includes bug fixes and improvements.:"
Fitbit does not learn or take on board the lessons its users try to offer. I honestly think the Fitbit moderator replies are just bots regurgitating the same stuff over and over.
If Fitbit really did listen we would not be directed towards an article that says "This release includes bug fixes and improvements" or something similar for the vast majority of updates. It would by now spell out what issues have been addressed and what improvement were made so that users can make an informed choice whether to risk running an update.

I see nothing in the article to address the dead screens. Nor were any of us mentioned. My BF actually called yesterday and got a personal walk thru. Still a dead screen. An offer of 25% off. What good does that do for a watch that is, unfortunately, a little over a year old. I use an Apple Watch. Know why? Cause mine updates and works the next day.... I've had it for four years and counting.
Believe me, we'll keep pushing for a fix or replacement. Ridiculous.

I told my son not to update his Versa that I got him for Christmas. Fitbit needs to address this. As you say, not a 'bot' reply. Seems it came up less than 5 minutes from when I direct messaged the person 'with the exciting announcement' about the update that was going to kill your watch. They aren't cheap!!

And now it is dead. Charged all night after the update bricked my watch. Now there is no buzzing and no green lights.

I posted this after the last update debacle. Eventually fitbit sent me a replacement for a 14 month old device, but many people with out of warranty devices were shafted or offered the opportunity to waste more money with Fitbit with a 25-40% discount.
For those left unsatisfied IF YOU BOUGHT WITH A CREDIT CARD
maybe the extended warranty offered is a solution? The extra year may be a get out of jail card, you can get your money back and go buy an apple watch or Garmin instead.

Like many others, this firmware update bricked my Ionic. Shortly after the update was complete, the watch died. It is not responsive to charging, the HR light is not blinking, none of the buttons are responsive. Yes, my watch is several months out of warranty, but installing a firmware update should not kill my watch. I've tried online chat and the help phone line. Same answer. Out of warranty and there is no way the firmware update hurt the phone. Without satisfaction from Fitbit, this will have been my last Fitbit.

Dear SilviaFitbit, I seem to have a different problem after updating my Ionic: all letters and figures are gone from all screens. Meaning that when I start the screen, only icons show up. And when I scroll, icons show up, but not a single letter or number. On any screen or in any app.
I have “rebooted” the watch (left and lower right button) but no difference. Due to this problem, I cannot read what version is installed on watch, but in Fitbit app it says that this new version is installed. Everything else seems to work, like syncing to Fitbit app, steps, heart rate. Battery level is 76%.
Any ideas?

Even before the update my Iconic stopped working. I was in the shower the screen got stuck, then it went black. I thought maybe it needed to be charged. So I charged it for a whole 24 hours! This was last week, however while it was charging it synced, although the screen was still black. To date it still has not turned on. I've seen the green light turn on the back, but it's not turning on inspite of me taking ALL of the steps to reset it. I have only had this Fitbit for 14 months. Please help!
