Hello Ionic family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1.3.
We started releasing this new update to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases aren’t distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside.

It has nothing to do with warranty!
what caused my problem was the software update from Fitbit. My Ionic was working great before the software update. Had it not been for the update, I’d still be enjoying my Ionic.
this is just poor public relations and losing another Fitbit supporter because of this.

I too cannot get GPS to work on my Ionic after this update. I used GPS reliably each week prior to the update. Now GPS is stuck "searching". I've tried restarting the Ionic..nothing worked.
At least acknowledge GPS was broken by the update and give us some info on when it will be fixed. GPS is literally one of the main selling points of the Ionic and it no longer works.

I checked your new link and tried all of the suggestions except for the shutdown. If I shut down the Ionic will no longer track my steps, correct?

I believe shutdown is literally shutting off the fitbit like you would a computer. Some have been successful after a reboot or shutdown.

Hi all,
Through a lot of persistence, watching closely the behavior of my Ionic, a bunch of guessing and hypothesizing, and much trial and error, I appear to have a working watch again, having recovered from the endless logo pulsing loop it got stuck in after an attempted update. If anyone is interested, I can post my detailed experience. There were a number things that had to be done, but the key was figuring out how to do a hard reset and doing it many, many times until it finally ended in a different result. It's tricky because you have to release the lower right button at just the right time when the logo disappears and hold down the upper right button until the watch buzzes. The difficulty with the logo disappearing is that is disappearing and reappearing over and over all on its own, making it really hard to release at the right time. I suspect that some subset of the disappearances are the key ones, I just eventually happened to land on some of them.
While this is good, I wish the upgrade hadn't failed in the first place.

Thanks for that. Now I press all three buttons and hold down, when the logo comes off I release the bottom button and hold down top and left button. I get a buzz and release. Do I do this on the first logo flash off or second or third?
so frustrating...

@ragerber, yes, please share what you did! I have done 3 factory resets with no avail. I successfully get the welcome/setup screen to show on the Ionic, but then, when I set it up, it downloads the latest firmware which renders the touch screen unusable. I know it still works. If I leave it to discharge for about 3 days, I can use the touchscreen just fine for a few moments, but it will say it has 0% battery. Then, it's like the Ionic boots up the faulty firmware which causes the touchscreen to stop working, but shows it has 20-30% battery life. It's crazy! My husband and brother-in-law both have Ionics and I've warned them not to do this firmware upgrade and their Ionics are working great.

I'm sorry to be the one who tells you that there is no way to bring your bricked Ionic back.
I've been there. It died slowly and in the end, all the LED lights from the sensors went nuts and then they completely shut down. From that moment on the watch become useless. No way to bring it back on...

It’s thievery. My Ionic has had no issues and was not displaying any issues. The battery life is good for 4 days on average. Updated with 70.7.27 the battery was at 95% when it just went dark. No warning. It was stolen by Fitbit. I would like my Ionic back please.
Thank you.

Hello @YojanaFitbit and @MattFitbit
,
I have updated my Ionic to firmware Firmware version: 27.70.8.0 (thought it was supposed to be Firmware version: 27.70.80.0) and my android phone app is version 3.22.1 (20243506) and most everything seemed Ok except that the Today app on the watch will now not sync to the phone app, I actually did a factory reset to try and clear it up. I have done that in the past after an update as it seems to clear up anomalous issues. But after the factory reset, I am still having the same issue.
Have any others been reporting this issue?

Since this last update has killed my watch and it is very apparent by these discussion boards that Fitbit simply does not care about their community and customers, I have been forced to move away from Fitbit all together. It is unreal that a company will treat their customers this way with little to no lack of caring. Their software updates have caused these issues and they don’t care. I tried to push through buy wearing the watch and getting updates on the phone instead of looking at the watch, but now I join the long list of customers whose watch has black screened.
Good Bye Fitbit.

@PaulMe Did they fix the Start button to start exercises? In a previous update, they broke that function and now you have to tap the Start icon to start an exercise. That's the only reason that I would want to install this latest FW update. Thanks.

They did not change that functionality. You still have to press start on the screen.
