Fitbit Update: 12/05/2017

We've just rolled out new firmware for Ionic to 100% of users! This firmware update includes:

NEW APPS AND CLOCK FACES

This Fitbit OS update provides access to new apps and clock faces from Fitbit, Fitbit Labs, popular brands, and developers. The apps span a range of categories such as Flipboard, The New York Times, and Yelp. New apps and clock faces will be added frequently. Browse the available apps in the Fitbit App Gallery.

For more information, see How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit watch?

FITBIT LABS

We’re introducing Fitbit Labs, which develops experimental apps and clock faces for Ionic. Install an app or clock face to motivate you to stay active, help track and interpret your behavior, and provide intelligent feedback. Choose to adopt a virtual pet and use your steps to keep them fed and happy with one of the FitPet interactive clock faces, or install the Think Fast app and test your ability to rapidly and accurately switch between tasks. Check back often for new apps.

For more information, see What is Fitbit Labs?

FITBIT PAY

Now you can add up to 6 credit and debit cards to Fitbit Pay on Ionic and choose which card you want to use for each transaction. When you’re ready to pay, swipe right on your watch’s screen to scroll through your cards.

Note this feature is coming soon to the Fitbit app for Windows 10.

Possibly true, @RealSting, but I am using Android and have not had any sync problems. Wonder what the common thread is among those that are having problems with syncing.

Yup, i have an unsupported Android phone (Xiaomi Mi5) and all is working nicely for me (except DND notifications).

But sync is no problem at all.

From what I can see on this forum, the Fitbit app/sync seems to work better with iOS than it does with Android in general. I’m using iOS and haven’t had a single issue yet with Sync.

I have a Pixel (Android 8.1) and literally I don't have any single problem. I previously owned a couple of Android Wear devices, a Pebble Classic and a Pebble Time, and few sport watches and this is the best smartwatch I have ever had.

No, it does not. Wifi and Bluetooth cannot be disabled, just disconnected.

Just wanna say that fitness functions are great and works as expected.

I'm using Windows Phone and Win10 to sync. At first it works fine, but recently I'm having issues keying in the currency for the Bitcoin and city for the Weather app. Other than that sync is mostly fine.

I tried to use the IOS app and find that app has more stability issues syncing the Ionic and I couldn't add my credit card to the Fitbit Pay.

The TrekV4FB & Weather app both had issues syncing details, the WiFi don't stay connected.

I know this is a new product and OS so I'm going to submit these bug reports for Fitbit to debug ASAP.

Maybe it is an issue with your IPhone rather than with the Ionic... just my thought....

As others wrote in this thread I never had a single issue in syncing with my IPhone ( 6 ) on IOS 11, since I bought the watch in early October.

It is to easy to blame it on the phone. I am using IPhone 6 with IOS11 and I have never had issues with other BT connections

Well then that's strange... We are using the same equipment and software. Maybe you should try to pair the Ionic again to your phone. Although I am sure you did it already....

Again as I said for me it is running absolutely smoothly since the beginning and the syncing is always fast and reliable.

@TJROBO, in the Fitbit app Ionic Device Settings verify the WiFi setup to ensure the Ionic can connect to the WiFi.

It took a long time for mine to complete. I just kept walking thru the steps and finally it loaded all the way. I kept my Fitbit Ionic right next to my phone Fitbit app and make sure the internet was connected

Ever since the firmware update my notifcations no longer work, music won't work because wi-fi is off on the watch. Check app on phone and it is connected and since you can't figure out how to make pc app work when the phone app is on it won't connect to wi-fi. The laptop I am using is connected to my wi-fi and the pc app can't detect my network....

I just got my Ionic and executed this firmware update successfully.

Biggest failure so far is that after a couple of synchronizations the watch doesn't sync with the phone. I replaced the device from the app and got sync working but after a few successful syncs it's broken again.

I've toggled off and on the "all-day sync" option and that doesn't recover sync functionality. On my daily use I also randomly toggle phone's wifi and bluetooth on and off (I assume is quite normal behavior).

Got my Ionic yesterday, charged it fully then attempted to update the firmware via WIFI, failed, so after a couple of attempts reverted to Bluetooth, started on the second attempt and completed around 6 hours later. Today i'm transferring my music, 207 songs on a Windows media player playlist, each song is transferring roughly every 30 seconds, 20 to go and has taken approx 1 hour 18 mins. PC is 6 mtrs away from BT Wireless Router, quite happy so far, fingers crossed. 8-)
