Tried many times - all options. Really low quality process from fitbit. After two retries with a full reset I finally managed to update. Remove your device from the app/client and then add it after reset.

Thank you for this very long list of steps to try. I must say that I have tried them all, multiple times and have still been unable to get my fit bit to update. This is an extreme amount of things to have to go through to get a stupid watch to work. I loved my fitbit Ionic- for about the first month I owned it. Since- nothing but issues. The the screen goes black, clock face after clock face doesn't work, can't sync to my phone, doesn't track my sleep, the exercise app won't engage, wont update, and on and on. I won't say this is the worst product I've owned. But I won't say it isn't either. Very aggravating for a $300 item to work so poorly.

I've owned an ionic for well over a year and I've always had problems updating the firmware but never like this. This thing just won't update and I'm done with it. I've scoured all the "workarounds" when, really, it should just work. Ya? Pretty frustrated with this piece of junk. Oh yeah, did the spO2 sensor ever get turned on? Probably not..... I still wear it sans the update because who doesn't want to look like they have a TI-85 strapped to their wrist but I'll probably look elsewhere when I decide to upgrade my watch

Is there a fix to this yet? I've tried updating for two days, it errors out every time. I have tried EVERYTHING offered as a solution. I'm not using my phone; using a computer; bluetooth on; WiFi fine; plugged in and charging at 90%; reset a dozen times; waited up to 9 hours before it stopped; you name it I've tired it. What other options are there now? And once I started this process it now will not let me track activities. Clock face errors you name it. Been a hassle!

follow the instructions from fitbit and nothing works, I've been trying to update it in so many different ways and nothing works. from all of the sudden my watch start showing clock error. why is this happening in the middle of this era? how fitbit can make me so disappointed of not been able to update my fitbit ionic for the last 2 months. my wife laughed at me everytime she sees me trying to update my fitbit is embarrassing. I'm moving to a different company

I'VE DONE EVERY BIT OF THIS AND NOTHING IS WORKING TO UPDATE THIS IONIC!! Is there any buy back program for these faulty devices? They're so expensive and you not complete an update is ridiculous!!

Of course not.... Fitbit doesn't care.... Especially after Google bought them.... Which they will proceed to run into the ground just like all the other "acquisitions" they've made.

Mine finally updated after I tried a number of things multiple times. Can’t even say which procedure was the one that ended up working. Doesn’t matter anyway. My Ionic died a couple of months later. Didn’t even last a year. The Fitbit Blaze I owned before it lasted just over two years. Neither of these watches were abused. In fact they looked almost new when they died. That was about $500 worth of watches that lasted a total of three years.
My current watch is an $80 Amazfit Bip. Look up the reviews if you’re tired of failing fitbits.

I still hace the same issue. I called customer support and they suggested to change the watch for another one. Went again to BBuy got a new watch and I still face same issues truing to update the firmware. Even on wi fi or Bluetooth it gets to the 100% after more than hour and freezes there...
any clue or advice? If not will return it tomorrow and ask the store to get my money back. I also tried from my computer and also didn’t work...

it's not watch Fitbit, it's the new firmware update that is the problem......fix it or the watch goes back for a refund.

I'm having the same problems updating my Ionic as the listers above. I have a sound wifi (internet connection 75mbs) the only thing I can think maybe the problem is my smart phone Samsung A70.
Any one get theirs updated with this phone?
The watch does not work without the update so I'm stuck up a tree without a ladder!

Hello everybody,
whatanonsense here, I was one of the first posters in this thread.
First, I am highly surprised that Fitbit is not putting in more effort to solve this problem, or at least, to inform users how to solve it.
In my case, I reset the watch, removed the software from my phone, and meticulously followed the gruesome instructions of fitbit to install the software again, link the fitbit with the phone, etc...
Since more than a year, updating works like a charm although it is taking a long time before it finishes. Better give it the whole night. I have done several updates this year, all without any problem.
What also works like a charm: I bought a watch, a real one.. well it was a present in all honesty.
it only does what a watch is supposed to do: It tells the time by moving two old fashioned needles (or what you call these things) .
It has no battery and it does not need recharging, It is fully mechanic and it just works as long as you wear it, and then two days longer. It is a technological marvel, really, it is. And while the Ionic is surely an attractive thing, this mechanical thing is just beautiful and simply amazing in its simplistic complexity.
Did I tell you it is fully mechanic, no battery? And it does not need software upgrades, or Bluetooth/WIFI connections, or apps, or …
I could forget completely about it... and it will still tell me the time whenever I look at it, always...
And I don't worry anymore how many times I woke up at night, or why my heartbeat is in average 5 beats faster or slower than yesterday.
Running, and cycling, and anything else seem to be perfectly possible and enjoyable without statistical analysis.
I AM FREE!!!!!
