Ionic Not Receiving Notifications Since Update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The notification feature on the Ionic is very unstable as are a lot of the apps. I am finding that they don't work more often than do. It is very frustrating. Especially when Fitbit continues to introduce more features that have the same issues.

Last week, I updated the firmware on my Fitbit Ionic and lost all notification functionality -- no call, no text, no calendar. This update did provide the new Quick Reply feature which is useless without receiving  notifications.

This morning I spent an hour or more on the phone working with Fitbit Tech Support and made no progress.

Perhaps legislation should be created that prevents advertising or charging for a feature if it does not work reliably for more than 1% of the customers that use it.  And if it initially is reliable and is made unstable by an upgrade compulsory refunds should be made.

I am not receiving text messages, but I am getting calls, messages from Whatsapp and Remind. What else can I try to fix it. I reset it, etc.

I am having the same problem!!  It worked when I originally purchased my Ionic, but I have spent hours checking everything and reading guides with no luck.  I even tried a Factory Reset on my Ionic with no change.

I ended up completely unpairing my Ionic from the app, uninstalling the
app, doing a factory reset on the Ionic, re-installing the app, and
repairing and it SEEMS to be working now. (Has been for about a month or
so.) *knocks on wood* We’ll see if this solved my issue.

I reset everything and removed/reinstalled the app, but I didn’t try removing the device from the app. I’ll try that and fingers crossed that it works!! Thank you so much for the info!!!

I think that I finally figured it out. It has something to do with how you displayed the text messages on your phone, like as the banner etc. Try that. Make sure it’s not set to temporary.

I totally agreee, this is a flawed product!  I have owned my ionic since Xmas 2017.  The txt and call

notifications have not worked for the last 6 months.  The gps only tracks my runs if I make it a point to activate the screen in the first 1/2 mile, otherwise it freezes after 1/2 mile of EVERY run.  Did not expect this from a $300 product.  I will never buy another Fitbit product.

I was able to correct the text notifications by adjusting the on screen messaging settings, but anytime my phone updates, that seems to switch back.

My notifications all of a sudden stopped working too.  I updated to Fitbit OS 2.2 about a month ago and everything was working fine until today.... then nothing.  I did all the standard troubleshooting steps... nothing.

Now I am attempting a factory reset.... see if that helps.  I also noticed that the Ionic would not connect to Wi-Fi.  Syncing seemed to work though.

I just did the same, factory reset. It took a bit but it started to work. Jury is not out yet if it will stay working but for now my ionic works.

Hello everyone! Thanks for your continuous participation on this thread regarding notifications not being received after the update.

Fitbit just started to roll out OS 3.0 (version 27.33.1.30) to 20 % of users. Please feel free to update your watch once you get the update. Please note this is a progressive roll out so you might get it these next days. Please update and let me know how the notifications work. Check this thread for more details on this.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Got my very first Fitbit product, an Ionic a couple of days ago. I must say it surprises me that Fitbit seems - not capable of, or uninterested in - fixing the notification issues a lot of users are reporting about. I´m using an iPhone 7, and notifications work with calls, but not texts. How hard could it really be?

What’s the solution?

There isn't a solution and frankly it's obvious fitbit doesn't care or else they would address there serious flaw.  I have been a fitbit user for 5 years.  My Ionic quit working after 15 months. Time to switch to a more reliable company

The solution was a setting on my iPhone that changed...

Notifications > Messages > Banners must be set to Persistent.
