New Ionic won’t charge. Rebooted twice per help Fitbit help folks (pushed two buttons - left and lower right at the same time for about 10 sec until ionic screen appeared) tried two different ports on MacBook Air. Clock face shows icon of battery charging (battery level and lines moving outward). Out of box charging level was 51%. Overnight charge is now at 44%. Junk? Disappointed.

Hi All,
I just got my Ionic today, January 5th.
There was zero charge. I have not been able to get any indication it is taking a charge. I've read the threads. Tried all of the different options and zip, zero, nadda.
Extremely disappointed brand new Ionic owner.

It's incredibly disappointing. I was just issued a replacement, still waiting on it to arrive, but I'm hopeful the replacement will be better. I'll keep you posted. There was one person who said their replacement was better. I also learned that it's best to charge it through the USB port on your computer rather than a wall charger, but nowhere in the packaging does it indicate that wall chargers can be harmful to your device. Customer service told me that it may be.

My replacement works perfectly and I am now back on track with my exercise regimen. I really rely heavily on these types of devices to keep me structured and motivated, so I feel your pain for the wait. It seemed forever at the time but now all is well!
I have no problem with wall charger either, btw. I do try to clean after workouts with alcohol in case that was initial issue. Unsure if it was that or defective battery.
Good luck!

I had this issue. I found the problem and fixed it. If you look at the charger, there are 3 pins. They're spring loaded. One of the pins was stuck down and not making contact with the Fitbit when it was placed on the charger. I freed it and voila! Fitbit charges again. Check this out! This may be your problem.

@eleanorrella - Thanks so much for the tip! Unfortunately, I've already sent my old ionic back to fitbit and I am receiving a new one (I believe it's arriving today). I'll absolutely keep this in mind if the new one ends up acting up! Appreciate the tip!

I've tried all my various charging options and have yet to find a way to get my new ionic to charge. IMO the new magnetic charging option ruined what could have been an amazing fitbit. My ionic won't even show/ register the fact the charger is attached. I've turned on and off, restarted and even 2 factory resets. No luck. I see many of u having luck with iPhone charges, of which I don't have lol. I'm planning on returning mine tomorrow, thank god I kept my charge 2, any suggestions before I fight for my money back, greatly appreciated.

Mine was not the charger but the device. Just start anew and get your new one. It is not worth the aggravation!

Hey Amanda!
I have so many suggestions for you! So, first thing, apparently you shouldn't plug the USB part of the charger into a wall charger. You should plug it into your computer only, that said, if you've already plugged it into a wall charger, then you may have fried the charging capability on your ionic.
Here's what I did: I called customer support and trouble-shot the problem with them. I had to take a video of what was going on and then sent my ionic to fitbit and was issued a replacement. When I got the replacement, I only charge it by plugging the charger cable into a USB port on my computer and I've had no issues. Before getting a refund, I'd recommend getting a replacement from Fitbit.

I am charging mine since the fitbit Surge and now since October the Ionic, with just a wall charger
( Iphone charger ) with absolute zero issues. It is also stated in the Ionic user manual, by the way.

@MassiP - good to know! I also used a wall charger originally (also because it had said in the manual and also made sure the voltage was w/i the recommended range) and per my conversations with Fitbit's customer support team, I was told not to use a wall charger and that it likely messed up my device's ability to charge. That said, you're clearly able to charge without a problem, so I'm not entirely sure what to say! It seems like there are a variety of different issues that have occurred with different root causes, so to be fair, I guess I can't make a blanket statement about wall chargers not working in entirety for everyone. It was just what I encountered and was told, personally. I'll for sure keep that in mind going forward.

If says you can use a UL approved wall charger. Most quality wall chargers are UL approved
