Ionic not getting notifications

Hi all,

I got a new Ionic to replace my Charge 2 and I am not getting any notifications to the watch.  I have a Samsung Galaxy 7 edge and my notification bar on the phone says the notifications are running.  I disabled the Charge 2 and have turned on my phone and Ionic along with doing all the other recommended steps.  I am at a lose, my Charge 2 worked fine.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tbh I got fed up and it’s second hand, it’s a sport watch, It’s quite old, but it does exactly what I want it to do, the ionic doesn’t record your steps if your pushing a wheelchair, this one does so I’m more than happy with it.

That worked.  Tried everything else first, last step; deleting Ionic and then setting it back up worked.  Appears to have stopped after a software update.  Thanks.

Hello @Heist, it's good to see you around in the forums for the first time. Sorry for the late reply.

I'm sorry to see that you've experienced trouble to sync your Ionic. As you've mentioned already, I confirmed the phone model you mentioned is still not included in the compatibility list. The full list of compatible devices can be found here

If a device isn’t listed it doesn’t mean it won’t work with a Fitbit tracker or smartwatch. We routinely test new devices to ensure full compatibility with Fitbit devices and the Fitbit App, and are constantly working to confirm compatibility with new phone models. A majority of Android phones running version 4.4 or higher will work with our products, however we cannot guarantee optimal performance on devices for which we have not tested and confirmed compatibility.

However, some users have been able to receive notifications by following the steps listed in this article: My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone

Unfortunately we haven't received any updates to be able to know when more devices will be included in the list of compatibility. I hope too that other phone models can be included in the near future.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions.

Even with devices on the compatible list the ionic will lose sync with the phone. Its why mine is now sitting in a box and a 300$ paperweight after I got frustrated after months of trying to get it to work right.

this is so far from okay,a mid range Samsung Galaxy with the latest version of Android is not supported is this a joke? It has been working fine working for months. The only difference is the software is the software update. ive spent 800 AUD on ionics i want it to work. cant you see this is a common problem.

Hello @disgustipated, thank you for your reply.

I'm very sorry to see that you've experienced this with your Ionic and that you're no longer using it. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and experience with this: comments from users are always useful to continue to improving the quality of products and services. If you already tried all basic troubleshooting steps, please let me know if you'd like me to go ahead and send your information to Support for further assistance.

@Heist, I'm aware this was reported a while back and the developers are constantly working to increase the number of compatible devices. However, if the phone is not yet listed as compatible, it can't be guaranteed that it'll always work properly.

Thank you again for your input and feedback, let me know if you have further questions.

I haven't been getting SMS notifications on my Ionic since the June 20 update. I've already done all the troubleshooting and gone through support, who responded with the equivalent of a head scratch and a shrug. Very disappointed that my $300 product doesn't work as advertised. Support says they *hope* to  fix it eventually but possibly not "in the immediate future."  Well, that's fine, I won't be buying any more Fitbit products in the "immediate future" then, either. And I'll start recommending literally anything else to my friends who ask.

My Ionic does not swipe to the right, only left. Going to settings/notifications - clicking on notifications gives me 3 settings - all turned on.
All notifications are turned on in the Fitbit app on my phone,
AND NO NOTIFICATIONS ARE RECEIVED!

My ionic is no longer getting any notifications since the last update as well.  Tried all the tips in this thread and nothing.  I have had nothing but trouble with the ionic, so disappointing

As of Firmware Version 33.1.30 (or get the latest.)

1- Open the Fitbit app on your Mobile Phone.

2- Go to Account and then select your Fitbit Ionic.

3- Tap on Notifications

4- Make sure the Enable Notification Widget is turned on/green toggle for either Calls, Text Messages, Calendar Events or all three.

Enjoy!

All my notifications are enabled.  I’ve even unpaired, restarted, disabled and reenabled, restarted my phone, etc etc.  still nothing.  And now my weather app is showing unknown like it’s not syncing.  The watch IS syncing.

Sorry to hear that. Not knowing if you have IOS or Android phone, please make sure you have the latest operating system as well as the latest Ionic firmware update. You may have to also uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app and setup up the notifications as mentioned.
Hope this helps.

does it have anything to do with the newest IOS UPDATE?

Hello @Msheffield84, it's good to see you around in the forums.

Thank you for all the information about your Ionic that is not receiving the text notifications. Before considering other options, please make sure to check all the necessary requirements and if you already tried all the steps listed here to resolve problems with notifications.

Also, be sure to check if the mobile device you're using is listed here as a compatible device with the Fitbit app.

Please keep me posted.

Its possible it has to do with the update. You may have to check
notification settings in the app settings on the phone. Check the settings
on the watch by going to the settings option, select notifications and make
sure all three options are in the on position. Lastly, on the fitbit app
dashboard click on the account icon. Under devices, click on the Ionic
icon. Scroll down to General and click on Notifications and select which
notifications you want sent to the watch.

Hope this helps

So this did not fix it actually, it has been set like that this whole time.

Any other ideas? It seems to have started with the recent iOS update.

Excellent, thank you for sharing these steps @paidtoomcu

@Msheffield84, as you mentioned earlier, some users have experienced trouble to receive notifications after the iOS 13 update. If you haven't done so already please make sure that you've also followed all the steps listed here

Keep me posted on the outcome.
