Ionic stuck on 0% and won't charge

My ionic was working great and then the battery died the other day. I plugged it in to charge and came back a few hours later and it still says 0% when you press a button. It has now been on charge for 3 days and still says 0%. I have tried wall chargers and running it off the laptop USB but still nothing! I can't reset or do anything as there is no battery life! Help!

Ionic battery won’t charge!  I updated the firmware and charged the battery.  Went to bed and woke to find that my Ionic had died during the night.  What is weird is that the iPhone app shows the battery fully charged but the Ionic will not charge.  Similar to what others have tried:

I rebooted the watch and the phone.

Have had the watch on charger for several hours to no avail.

reset the ionic to factory settings and now I can’t get the new firmware update or set up the tracker because there isn’t enough battery power! What a mess!!

My fitbit Ionic also stopped charging today, after battery drained at an alarmingly high rate (from 100% in the night to 0% by 12:30pm). I have done a factory reset but I also had issues after the last update, where it would not let me swipe up and I had to reset it then.

I’m concerned I won’t have enough battery to set my Fitbit back up now.

Why is this issue happening so soon after an update? I think they must be related.

I just wanted to update for anyone who may also have this issue; my $400 year old Fitbit Ionic has been declared dead and I was offered no replacement, because my warranty expired last month. So I was offered 25% a different tracker or 40% off to repurchase another Ionic.

I’m definitely not satisfied with that response, since this is a product issue (regardless of manufacturer warranty I believe Fitbit should still stand behind their product).

For all of you with the same problem, be warned. You will likely be out of luck and out of pocket.

I had the same problem, i phoned the help line & the problem seems to be
solved but I will never get another fitbit, for how much this watch cost
this is the second problem I've had & it will be the last

My biggest issue is that they don’t even stand behind it.
One year and the product just suddenly stopped, even they cannot tell me why. It’s 100% a product issue.
I find the fact this happened right after an update is also an issue. As soon as I performed the last update, the Fitbit started working improperly and I had to restart it 2x. The third day it finally just died completely.

And their solution is just “hey, spend more money on another one and cross your fingers it dies before the warranty is up!”

Unbelievable.

I certainly wont be spending money on another one, this is my 4th fitbit,
I've had them for years but I really am disgusted with this 1, I'll try &
get a bit more of my moneys worth out of it then I've already decided which
Garmin I'm switching to

I’m considering the Apple series 3. It’s not much more money, and in my experience Apple products last years.

I have had my iPad since 2014 with no issues, and my children still use the iPhone 5S I bought in 2015. I’d rather get 3+ years out of the cost then 13 months

I am impressed with 13 months.
Went through 2 watches for the same charging circuit issue in 6mo.

I am really surprised Fitbit is not doing anything about it.

Looking at this forum the charging circuit is serious and evident problem.

After the second watch, and no chance to repair I realized, even I liked
the watch a lot, it is not worth.

They actually just offered me a resolution I’ve accepted.
My surge lasted a long time with no issue, so I hope this issue was just a one-off.

No matter how positive and nice of a person you are, this is not one time
issue. Watching this theme, I see several updates a week with the same
problem. Bluetooth turn off and on, resets to factory may work once or
twice, but once no charging takes place, the watch is done, just as it was
in your case....
It does not change the fact that almost all the users love the product when
it works 🙂

I am having the same issue as many in this thread. A couple days ago my ionic stopped working, i got it to turn back on several times and then started to complete the update. The ionic shut off multiple times during the update, but it eventually went through. After the update it continued to just shut off so i read some threads and tried to complete the factory reset.

now it wont turn on at all or charge...when i put it on the charger it doesn’t even light up. When i push buttons while charging it does nothing. I take it off the charger and i can get the 0% to show up.

I have had this ionic for about 2 years now and i love it...it just all the sudden stopped working!

Is there anything else i can try? Or do i just need to contact customer support

I called customer service on Xmas eve morning and they resolved this issue. Declared my Ionic officially dead and because it was still under warranty they sent me a replacement. Interesting that the warranty coverage begins when you set up the ionic, not when you purchase it. Lucky for me I had set it up Xmas 2017! So I had one day left on the warranty when I called!

i have my replacement New Ionic and I do love it. However like many others here I am skeptical about purchasing any further fitbits. My surge never died! I had it for four years and the battery did finally lose its charging ability. I lived that watch!

Do you know the pin out on the ionic charging cable?

Yes , I checked both of my chargers . I had a full charge when the issue started. It would turn on but then shut itself down, then it wouldn’t turn on at all, then showed 0% and now completely dead. I have no idea what happened or if there’s a fix so I purchased a new pebble. Thank you all so much for your help and I hope anyone else who’s having this issue will be able to solve it before having to purchase a new one !

This is a good question. I don’t, I am sure if you place the black lead
I’m multimeter on the center, and check the two adjacent, you will find
about 3 to 5VDC, depends what your charger puts out

Hi There Everyone,

I'm getting the same error 0% charge on my Iconic too! Managed to get a factory reset done and tried to update to the new firmware, but app says due low battery cannot perform this. As it still sits on 0% and wont charge.

Any assistance will be much appreciated!

Warm regards,

Thanks, worked it out. V+ on the center pin , ground on either
outside pin..

Did find intermittents as pin were depressed inside the connector.

Fyi, was able to cause the ionic to reboot by holding left and bottom
right buttons and then plugging in the power cable. Wouldn't reset when
power was applied first.

Waz,
You will need to contact Fitbit support. They may decide to send you a
replacement.

Many folks went that route.
