So well mentioned: I dont see anyone doing any personal attacks here. We are talking about fitbit as a company. So if u feel i did tat cause i mentioned Matt then thats not the intencion but my of talking to a member of ur team. Now to ignore the calibration error is one thing. Saying it dont affect the device is wrong. How can u say that?

Because of the above message I tried to do the download again. Grrr, it made it worse. I finally called Fitbit and spoke to Julio, he walked me through the steps I needed (I'm not computer savvy). Now, my Ionic is up and running. At this time, no issues. However, WTF why is "Matt?" allowed to making that statement if not true. Come on guy's, I'm giving another chance but get your sh#t together!

Will the messages cease?

So I was doing my morning workout and about a quarter of the way through I felt that all to familiar vibration on my wrist.  Like Pavlov's Dog a now automatic response of anger came about me.  I knew what that vibration meant.  Calibration Error Time.  And again, another workout recording gone.  But then I thought about yesterday and how Fitbit told me that the functionality of the watch is not affected by the recalibration message.  And yes they are correct I checked the time on my watch against my microwave clock and the times matched.  So the Ionic still keeps perfect time.  I have a Timex watch I purchased in the 70"s that does the same thing and it only cost me 10 bucks.  Unfortunately I purchased the Ionic to aid me with my workouts not tell me what time it is.

If any one was offended by this message I apologize in advance, It was not my intention to do so.

I would definitely take a software downgrade! The ionic was $300... No one wants to waste $300... I wanted this watch because it was the best for what I needed and it looked good on your wrist. But that message! Every day at exactly 8pm is obnoxious especially since it does not actually calibrate it just fails. It's one thing if we got the message as a reminder and the calibration  worked but this is ridiculous. Don't really want to return but also tired of dealing with the message and lack of customer service and responsibility to providing us with a product that functions properly (it doesn't I don't care what fitbit says).

My big issue with this all. Is that you say the calibration doesn't affect the performance right... Then why do we calibrate them at all? Your basically saying that the calibration that a very few people are able to complete does nothing?

So does the ionic need to be calibrated or is the "calibration" just something to make customers think our devices are working and actually does nothing?

Any updates?

I'm training the same time every day and the calibration massage is interrupting the training!!!

This is NOT the propose of a sports watch. Can you provide a target date to fix the issue or a potential re-call of the product?

Thank you for you HELP!!!

WOW I am so glad I decided to search the community messages! I have been wearing FitBits for years and have NEVER had so many issues with a devices than this. I guess the FIX has not been provided yet? ( heartbreaking Smiley Sad )

Just thought I would post this.

I had mine replaced under warranty for all kinds of issues, mainly:

-Loud unwanted buzzing/rattle sound when vibrating

-Bluetooth music cutting out

-Calibration error messages

-Terrible battery life.

The replacement fixed all the issues. No more calibration messages.

The build quality is better, i'm starting to think the early adopters ended up with the prototype units.

I have exactly the same calibration issue and was getting so fed up I have checked online to see what has been going on and clearly this has been a problem for many and is taking way too long to fix.

this was bought as a birthday present for me and the person who bought it ummed and ahhed between the Ionic and the Apple watch, in the end on advice from store she bought the Ionic

thankfully they took out an extended and refundable warranty on it if any problems so its back to the store and though it erks me (Apple get on my nerves with their illegal price fixing, device slow downs etc) I havent heard anyone say a bad thing about the device itself. more expensive I know but hey, no point buying cheaper if it doesent do what its supposed too!

My husband surprised me with my ionic last week and I've only seen the calibration message once during setup. On the days that I know I'm doing 10,000 steps minimum, my ionic is saying about 8,000, if that. I wish there was a way to manually calibrate, or that a fix would come out soon. I guess in the mean time, I'll just use my Charge HR.

Like a couple of others on this thread, I took my Ionic back to the store today, and even after nearly 4 months they accepted it to be faulty with no hassle, even without the additional warranty.  I opted for a replacement because despite the recent issues, I actually really like this piece of kit.

I am happy to report that everything seems to be working as expected, even after updating the software; and whilst I was cringing at 7.59pm, I didn’t receive the dreaded 8pm calibration message I’ve come to loath.

I wouldn’t wait for a fix if you’re hoping to hold on to your tracker.  Get down to the store you got it from and get it replaced.
