Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

@Bellegg @johnlynch38 Read previous post, I think only a page or two back from here. You'll find answers to your questions posted by me and others. Good Luck!

I’ve still not managed to verify my account - I’ve had the ref number 3 hours now but still not being accepted. Glad you got yours verified Donkeychops … a step in the right direction for you. 👍

I guess they have the same problem i have, we haven't received  the "Recall Account verification" yet. We should wait for that email first.

I tried registering but it wouldn't let me through, not recognizing the email address i use for my fitbit app. I contacted support and was told they have eacalated it and i should receive an email to register, but no email as of yet. I'm wondering if anyone has the same trouble in registering? And how were you able to get that resolved.

I have completed my refund application also, but it's stick with the Fitbit icon loading for the last hour grrrr

Hi

Ive gone though the registration process, then then Account verification process where on screen it says “You’ll receive email confirmation after we disable device syncing” I can see on my dashboard that you have removed the device, but I haven’t received any email confirmation of notification of what to do next. Will I be getting anymore info?

@TammyLynn_17 Hey, but what should i do, if after completing 3 step verification, and getting my Ionics blocked (not syncing anymore), i don't get any mail, just nothing. All the mails i got from Fitbit were only about recall, and that i have to verify my account, so after i did everything i did not received no additional links for coupons or anything. As i see quite a lot of people here are in the same situation.

It's a prepaid Mastercard, should be able to use it anywhere MC is accepted.

@Grizzby Sorry I don't work for @FitbitCommunity , I'm just trying to help by sharing my personal experiences on this. Fitbit has helplines which you can chat or call someone. I recommend calling as I found the chat unhelpful. Follow links in the original post from this thread. Good Luck!

No still waiting, not a good sign, probably inundated, my ionic stopped
working after the last update, apparently it bricked a lot of watches.

I’m not thrilled that I have had to send 3 emails to get my discount code and the only reason I managed to find one was through this thread. Because of that I missed out on the sale that would have had me paying 180$ for the sense and now it’s 275$. That’s really speaks of Fitbit

I'm days into the process, still no follow up emails at all, no receipt, no confirmation.

There is a post in this thread somewhere that shows how to force the discount code, but as far as the refund, no one outside the US even knows how much to expect. No follow up emails, case number or confirmation seems to be the norm.

@AussieMon I personally did not received anything from them, and as i can see there are more people like us. What a shame, they just disable your device and go silent, with useless support.

I've been waiting for 21 hours and it still doesn't work. 😞

Are you in the UK and receive both refund and discount code? I have registered and went through process of deciding what payment system to chose. 3 to 6 weeks refund? I also received an email where it asked me to verify my email address. I assume I get the discount code after that?

Guys!

I registered and right after verified and it said you have an impacted device confirm and bla bla.... to disable it. Now, I have neither got a confirmation for completing the whole process nor any discount codes. Also, the links are down! Is it the same for others as well?
