Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

I have to laugh, I finally just got my payment from you having my watch in March. You double refunded me and are requesting a refund back.
Good luck with that, after all the hassle you put me through and everyone else at getting a refund and the many calls and lies. I am sitting on that $299, just like you had me waiting for my refund and everyone else. So have fun being in the boat that you put your customers in.

Ha ha yes they can definitely call my recall center and I will lie and say I am sending it back and not do it.

well, offer a 3 - 6 week timescale, and wait. Then of course you can deduct reasonable management fees for sorting out the error, including time, time of the accountant to sort out the necessary tax issues that of course will be in place because of the payment and then the transfer fee back to them.
All in all that will probably come to about $300, so call it quits?
Seems reasonable to me.

100% does to me too. It’s not like they can have PayPal reverse it. Seeing as they refunded me for an item, that wasn’t purchased through PayPal and doesn’t exist as far as PayPal is concerned. 😂

Customer Service keep telling me that my code has expired and 1 code per customer not per device. But the code is not a discount code it is an access code to the store. And once you enter the code it is invalid

Is the discount a scam? Has anyone got the discount?
I received this in an email
You have 90 days to browse the store, but you can only check out once. Be sure to purchase all devices, accessories, and services in the same transaction.
As a reminder, your codes expires after 90 days.
But was unable to return to the site after I left before purchasing a new device

I bought two new Fitbits using the discount code but have still been awaiting my refund for the defective ionic since early April. So i guess that i am waiting for those double refunded to return their windfall before Sedgwick has enough funds to refund those in wait? 🙂

Its been 3-4 months now and there is no sight of the refund. Fitbit team haven't shared the refund reference number with me And the refund centre is asking for the refund reference number to confirm the status of the refund.
I have reached out to their support team multiple times asking for refund reference number but they are not able to provide me any details. Even their twitter account is not replying to any raised concern!

The reference number is probably the number you received after you first started the process. Starts 2022<month><day> and then some other digits, probably a timestamp from their server when it was logged

Update: I logged into the B4B ater a few weeks of leaving it alone. Now I got the option to add a phone number, it worked, transferred the money to another card and now I'm done with Fitbit. Only took 6 months Good luck to everybody

Hi There
Have you managed to receive your refund. I applied in March and to date still no success despite numerous calls.

Another pointless call made to the 'Recall Help Line' This time I get a different excuse. In fact it was more like multiple in one sentence. So story is, I submitted my own watch at the beginning of May, choosing PayPal as my chosen refund type. I made a couple of premature calls (before the 6 weeks) so expected the answer I got. Halfway through the 7th week, I get that lovely email from PayPal saying I have received funds from Fitbit, so a very relieved customer. Just after I submitted my watch, I convinced my brother and sister to recall theirs. They did them a day apart. Still nothing now. So the excuse today was partly about this 'so-called' payment glitch in June affecting a certain batch, and then because they had inputted my sisters address wrong, which we updated in July and now also to be told that as we all submitted them with my PayPal email address (As I purchased them for their birthdays) it probably triggered a fraud activity as she put 'Where there is refunds involved, there is also fraud'. I felt quite offended by this comment but she replied half-heartedly 'I will escalated this to my Manager' and 'you never know, you may get your refunds at the end of the month as they only process once a month'. Which I was told a month ago was now weekly due to the backlog.
I have no more to say, and will leave the rest down to your imaginations of what will happen next. Not much no doubt.

Hi My name is Matt , I returned my Ionic per the recall and have not received my $299 refund. I have made at least 20 phone calls to the various support phone numbers, I have emailed support folks who say they are looking into finding my refund, probably 20 emails… Fitbit generally gets back with “we sent you yr refund check
your junk mail and spam “ I have checked and never received my refund.. This is very frustrating and unfair. Can anyone help me get my refund ???

Hi @bobatea it's always been the policy when given a discount, that it couldn't be applied towards the newest of the Fitbit styles. Could be that is what's going on here, too.
