Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

I am very sick from the customer care. I have opted for recall of my iconic on 22nd Aug 2022 and due to technical error from fit bit side I had not received Reference number. From that date I am running from one customer care to refund customer care pleading to generate and share my reference number but no help till now. My watch is also lock. Today I have sent a complain form to CPSC and US consumer forum. I am lost now what to do

I have had 3 ionic devices 2 refunds and waited on the 3rd. Customer service told me that i can only have 1 discount code and when I got the code it only works once when I left the site before purchasing a device the code is invalid.

And I'm living in Ireland and I have to phone the UK.

Please can admin or fact checkers provide me with a phone number that actually works. ie. An actual irish call center

@pggadpayle, the fitbitionicrecall@sedgwickbp.com email address is valid, but I can't say if the email you received is valid or not without seeing the email itself with full headers -- and you're not allowed to post that here because it is personally identifying information.  I can't propose posting it somewhere else, as that is also not allowed here.  I can't ask a moderator for support, because we're not allowed to discuss moderator actions.  So the only route available to you is to try to contact either Fitbit or Sedgwick support, get a support ticket opened, and hope that they take action on your case before your refund money disappears.  I wish you good luck.  I've moved on from Fitbit, found another tracker that works well for me and the battery held up for more than a month before I had to charge it a second time.

I signed up for the watch recall on May 23rd and received a refund email from fitbit in August. I had the same problem as everyone else, after signing up for the B4B link provided in the email, I couldn't get SMS authentication because I didn't have a phone number, but now that I've logged back into my B4B account, they've improved it by adding an option to add a phone number. So if you encounter the same situation with B4B refund, please log in again to see if you can add a phone number. I got my refund , good luck to everyone.

I applied for my refund 4 months ago and got an estimate of 4 - 6 weeks. I rang after 2.5 months and got apologies and told it would be in my account in 2 weeks max.

I then rang this morning to get the exact same apology and estimate.

It's absolutely ridiculous and I wish I changed brands after my Ionic. Anyone else having a nightmare with the refund process?

May need to wait a little longer? I know this from other people's replies, the first time I tried was also unsuccessful, after waiting for a week today I tried again successfully, maybe the update progress is different in different countries

2 Monate. 3 Monate… Manchmal werden Träume wahr. Aber nicht bei Fitbit. Die sind bei der Bearbeitung Alle eingeschlafen.
Man wird nur hingehalten. Die Übernahme von Google steckt da auch noch hinter.
Also Finger weg von Fitbit Produkten. Ist die Beste Antwort.

I'm also waiting for my refund from the 6th of March, I think the international calls will end costing me more than the refund for my ionic, every time I call I get an apology and they tell me that my case has been escalated.

fitbit somehow messed up and disabled my ionic for someone else's refund. finally got it reenabled after 6 months of waiting and now when I try to verify my account, it says my device is not connected to my account despite the fact that it is. hopefully fitbit are able to fix it quickly.

@1Dave1000car, if your question was directed to me, I switched to the Amazfit Bip S.  It's not as "pretty" as the Charge 5, but it gets the job done for me.

Just thought I would kill a couple of minutes and call the so-called Customer Services again on the off chance that I would get a different answer than all the other 30 odd times I have called them... Guess what.....  My recalls are still.........PROCESSING.     I give up now, life is too short and I don't enjoy spending it bashing my head again a brick wall.

That’s how I feel.  I have spent countless hours over the last 5 months, begging to get back what belongs to me. We get censored by this group.  We get ignored by fitbit and no other agency has helped me get my money back.  $300 is not worth the stress this has caused.

Just received my refund after a months delay. To everyone on here keep going keep complaining, it will come. The best email to do this is

https://contact.fitbit.com. Copy it before it’s taken down. Good luck
