2015 -- Lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day -- 2015!

Hi!  I just saw a thread from 2014 where a group of mom's and non-mom's set a goal to lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day.  Anyone want to start one for 2015 with me?  I have about 35 pounds to lose total, but 20 by May sounds like a good goal to me.

I am going to try to get my 10,0000 steps in and I am joining a gym this weekend to add strength training and cardio.

put some music on and dance around, just move your feet! One song is at least 400 steps, so 5 songs is about a mile.  it adds up fast.  if there is a mall near you, that is good too!

Staying warm burns calories!  Walking inside still works. Glad that you are doing it at your pace and increasing your steps as you go.

Sustaining it is the most important factor so we get to carve out our own plan.

Best to you,

join us and set 11 lbs by Mother's day as that is totally doable. Then if you lose more it's a bonus.

Best in health.

I'm going for 8 more lbs by M D and will be happy as a clam to lose a little more.

We are doing this together and that makes it easier for me.

Dance at home and walk in place. I think it is good to see what we are feeling when we are about to over indulge. What are we telling ourselves when it happens? Are we aware in the moment or have we shut down our mindfulness? I think that I eat more when I'm anxious about something or procrastinating something, usually paperwork!

I find it helpful to grab my journal and write it out so I know what is bothering me underneath. It usually slows down the munching out.

See if this helps at all.

You are so right.  Tax season sets me off each year. I am planning to retire from my job and that is stressful also. I don't get to co-operation from my spouse that I  would like so that doesn't help either.  He has started to keep a big bowl of chocolates in the house. I have got to get a better plan.

Utter sabotage if he isn't willing to keep them covered and out of sight.  But if you see them as poison to your goal maybe you can resist them. If he cares about your health he will respect your limits and help you meet your goals.

Just my opinion, of course.

 We support your success.

Have you been at your job a long time? Is it going to be a big loss to leave your job? What are your concerns about retirement?

Let yourself know.

I just want to say how much I enjoy this discussion.  We all have our issues, don't we?  My husband took a bad fall at church Sunday and broke his nose.  He is in ill health on a good day so that has been a real set-back for him.  So, of course, I handled by stress by EATING anything that didn't move.  I've decided it's okay - I'm calmed down and ready to get back to hitting that 20 lb loss by Mother's Day!  Notes:  Retirement is good.  I never thought I'd like it as I like being around people and worked all my life.  But - I love retirement.  Now I can do what I want and am not at someone's elses beck and call.  Since you have a bowl of chocolate - keep some gum handy and see if popping a piece of gum would help.  Otherwise, move it into your husband's sock drawer and tell him he can have all he wants - it just can't be in your view.  So, folks, in spite of stress and worries - let's take care of ourselves today and step, step, step.

Welcome Monica

Supportive group here. The food logging is an eye opener as I started looking more closely at labels. Madras Lentils are yummy and only 150 calories per package I thought but no per 5 oz serving! Drats the 10 oz fits into a small bowl but is 300 cals. That doesn't leave cals for much else except veggies. 2 cups of mixed stir fry frozen veggies steamed 80 cals. Full enough and not over my limit. Thank heavens for veggies.

Get your steps in. Walking or dancing when tired may revive you so roll off the sofa or arm chair and come on along. 1100 more steps to go tonight so I'll make my 10K at the Foxtrot Class tonight.

Scale has been adding last 2 days but it must be heavy muscle building since I'm burning lots of cals more that I'm consuming. Not to worry and fret just keep trekking. The scale will catch up later I suppose. Waist line a little looser.

Happy burning that fat away.

Ouch. Your hubbie must have racoon eyes with a broken nose. Sorry to hear of his fall. Glad retirement suits you.

Stay mindful when you are stressed. Do you have other options like calling friends or writing about the event that is stressing you out? Substitutes for stress eating are good.

New minute, hour, day to be conscious of healthy choices.

I would love to join this challenge too.  Losing 20 lbs by Mother's Day would be great.  I'm having minor surgery on my foot next week, but hoping that the recovery time is a week or less.  I've been walking a lot and just spent 5 days skiing, so I really hope that not walking/working out doesn't hinder my weight loss too much.

Hello ladies ❤️

I've had my fitbit since Feb 7th and being very diligent about getting my 10k steps in for the day. I have lost 5lbs the first two weeks and today I weighed myself and it hasnt budged 😞

I would like to mention that i usually stay under my calorie alottement, mon-fri I go to the gym and do 30 minutes of weights, then 6 minutes rowing machine. I get about 6 cups of water in (approx 48oz)....

I do give my body a break for Saturday and Sunday but still try to get my steps in....

My goal is 30lbs but Ive joined this group to realistically see results at 20lbs in a healthy and steady way.

Any input would be great 🙂

Welcome Ineed

good luck with surgery.

guess you can dance your arms around while your foot is healing. Don't get on that foot too soon - listen to docs advice.
