Hi! I just saw a thread from 2014 where a group of mom's and non-mom's set a goal to lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day. Anyone want to start one for 2015 with me? I have about 35 pounds to lose total, but 20 by May sounds like a good goal to me.
I am going to try to get my 10,0000 steps in and I am joining a gym this weekend to add strength training and cardio.

Morning MD Challengers and Sweet Lou
Where are you? Are you just busy and on track? We have only 5 weeks minus 2 days now. How many lbs. to your goals? I'm 4.8 away and promise not to whine if I can get with 1.8 lbs. of my goal. How are you doing? Are you running into challenging issues or blocks? Are you chugging along with steps and light healthy eating?
My cataract surgery and a twisted ankle slowed me down a bit but I have no more excuses that are credible now.
Touch base with your progress.
Sending you healthy energy on your journies,
Barbara G

Hi Bobbi
Glad to hear from you. It has been deserted here since my last posting on 4/7. More peeps at a thread called older women these days.
Let the sugar cravings tap away. Tap right back and tell them NO thank you. I choose health.
Don't keep sugar junk around. Feed it protein and veggies and water and the cravings will go away.
Cravings don't rule you do.
Keep at it Bobbi.
I slowed down too from cataract surgery soon after a twisted ankle. Better now and better go walk my last 1200 steps to make my 10 k today. I'm determined to make my goal by MD.
Good health,
Barbara in CA

Hi Bobbi and foxtrotter,
Thanks for being here. I have ignored the fitbit community because I was in my sugar disease. I now weigh a lb or 2 more than when I started the MD challenge months ago. However since last Friday, I have been eating clean once more. Only tempted 1x when DH brought home chocolate almond bark. How ever when he opened it, it didn't tempt me. (It helped that it was milk chocolate and not dark).
This past week I started on juice for 2 days, and then back to the veggies and protein. I have a friend who is comming back on Sunday. I think I am one week at a time now, so the clean sugar free eating concept does not become daunting. Keep up your awfully good work you guys, you are inspirational!

Hi Renee
Glad to see that you are back to clean eating. We don't want junk cells, trillions of them through out our bodies, so we are not going to feed them junk food! Healthy body is made from healthy food. Strong immune system is from healthy food and activity. This is what I remind myself. Motion is lotion for the joints. Remember if you don't get out and walk, dance, garden etc., you can dance, and walk inside. Don't bring home unhealthy food and if others do ask them to hide it to help u stay strong and make your goal.
Good for you in not eating the DH milk Choc.. No to the cravings. You are strong and can do this choosing healthy path.

Hi Swimnurse,
Here is info about cellulite from webMD. Hope this is helpful. Eat healthfully and burn those calories.
Best wishes for staying on track. Love to know what you learn from Premium Fitbit.
Its name makes it sound like a medical condition. But cellulite is nothing more than normal fat beneath the skin. The fat appears bumpy because it pushes against connective tissue, causing the skin above it to pucker.
Cellulite isn't harmful. Many people, though, would like to get rid of it because of the way it looks.
What Causes Cellulite
Having cellulite doesn't mean you are overweight. Even thin people can have it. If you are overweight, however, losing weight may reduce cellulite.
Cellulite is more common among women than men. If other women in your family have cellulite, there's a good chance you will too.
Other factors that influence how much cellulite you have and how visible it is include:
Cellulite tends to be less noticeable on darker skin. If you have light skin and plan to be out in a bathing suit or short shorts, applying a self-tanner may make the bumps and dimples on your thighs less noticeable.
Resting for a few minutes and then up for watering my garden veggies and gathering some kale.
Need 4915 more steps today to make 10 K. Going dancing tonight so for sure I'll make it.

Hey Mother's Day Challengers
Where are you? Near your goals I hope. We have 3 weeks minus 2 days to go. I'm 3.3 lbs short of goal so no late night snacks, even healthy ones, for me now.
Even if we don't make it to goal we can do our best in this last 3 weeks.
Talk to me please. Sending you good wishes on your journey,
Barbara G

I'm just 6 lbs from goal. This is amazing to me as I haven't been successful in losing any weight for a long time. So being down 14 is great. I still hope to hit that 20 lb mark!

I've been putting in good numbers ( steps, miles, etc) but my fitbit tracker & charger has been going crazy - finally called support and they are sending out replacement ones. I will still do the work but it's nice to see what I'm doing while I'm doing it.

Walking counts. What would help your practice improve? What can you change to help you meet your goals?
You can do it.

Great Melissa. Glad that Fitbit is replacing your device. It is really fun to meet the daily goal and feel the buzz of the fitbit device. I have the Charge HR and love to check my heart rate as I walk or dance once in a while. I huff and puff a little less now that I'm more active.
Nice to know that others are working out, eating more wisely and getting healthier like you.
Stay strong.

Ambitiousgirl15,
Keep at it. Try taking an easy walk on lazy days as it can give you more energy. If you change an eating pattern for 28 days you have broken the bad eating habit. You can do it and have a healthier life.
Do your very best,
Barbara G

Hi all,
I finally reached my first 5 pound goal! It has taken awhile, because of my awful sweet tooth, but mostly because of trying to get back into walking without re-injuring my foot. So, I have been doing it slow motion, and I think my metabolism just woke up! It took me 1 month to lose the first pound (so discouraging) after gaining all the time no matter how I ate. Now I just lost a pound each week, for the past 3 weeks!
All this to say, hang in there, be consistent in your effort, be gentle with yourself, no extremes so you can let your body catch up to what you want it to do, and no excuses.
I'm setting another 5 pound goal, and will be happy with another 2 pounds by MD. Mostly, I will be happy if I just keep walking and eat healthy.
