2015 -- Lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day -- 2015!

Hi!  I just saw a thread from 2014 where a group of mom's and non-mom's set a goal to lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day.  Anyone want to start one for 2015 with me?  I have about 35 pounds to lose total, but 20 by May sounds like a good goal to me.

I am going to try to get my 10,0000 steps in and I am joining a gym this weekend to add strength training and cardio.

I am so low tech.... What does it mean to be friends on this? Is that for challenges? Thanks

Hi Bobbi

I have said yes to friends requests and they appear in a column when you click the red rectangle on the upper rt. side when in Dashboard.  You can cheer for them or taunt them ( I'm not into that). I like this discussion group where we can come and leave each other messages.

If you want to friend someone you click on their name beneath their photo. A request is sent out.

How is you foot coming along? Are you doing 5000 steps with no pain?

Thanks for your support.

Best,

Barbara in Northern CA.

Hi all!!! I am new to the Fitbit community. Like many I am struggling to loose weight and I am getting better with my eating habits. I would LOVE for words of encouragement, and things along that line to help achieve my goal. Please feel free to write me back, and I'll return the response and encouragement back.

Hi Tia,

Welcome.

Set your reasonable goals and check in. Several of us will root for you.

I'm at work now so can't add much now. Steps matter.

Best,

Happy Mother's Day to all. It's a good day to treat yourself very well, take excellent care of yourself. And feel proud of the effort you put in. Most of us are learning to take better care of ourselves, but we arent doing it perfectly, and it is a process, a learning curve. Be proud of your authentic efforts, be gentle with yourselves, and the goal will be yours. Enjoy.

barbara, congratulations and happy Mother's day. You did it! No matter what the scale says today, you succeeded. You stayed the course, you worked hard, you worked intelligently, you encouraged others and gave generously of your wisdom and spirit. So, You did it!!! (Should be in bold caps). I hope your Mother's Day is a joyous celebration of how much you have given, and focuses on how much you deserve. be as gentle and encouraging with yourself as you are with others, and have fun. and then get us started on our next goal, great leader. Please. And thank you for all you give. it makes a huge difference.

hello Bobbi

I just read your post and I am misty eyed. Thank you so very much for such awesome appreciation. You are right on about seeing the success as lots more than the scale which varies from day to day. I love your post also as you are wonderfully supportive. This is a life journey so treating ourselves and others well is a daily practice.

Is the 4th of july far enough out for our next goal?

What about goals other than weight loss if someone choozes  to take more steps or strengthening or flexibility. Even finding some walking buddies locally or taking a dance class or increasing take care of self time?  How about add more veggies to food intake. (Notice I didn't say diet since that implies deprivation to some people.  Maybe because I'm 2.9 lbs from my MD goal I'm thinking about a way of being to last a life time.  At night when I tend to be hungry after returning from dance classes I have been filling up on 2.5 cups of frozen veggies with just a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and lemon pepper. And a huge glass of water and later herbal tea without caffeine. Maybe a few almonds.  I love veggies raw and cooked lightly and beans so it is not a deprivation diet..  It was great on Friday at a dance they had 2 cakes, potato chips and water with strawberries in it.  I had the water and looked at those cakes as the Diabetes highway. It is funny and neat that we change the way we see things so completely.

Well let's do a july 4th goal.

Sending you Bobbi and all the wonderful MD friends hugs and appreciation.

You are absolutely awesome. Shall we go for July 4 goal post?  Independence from unhealthy ways.

That is an excellent accomplishment to have lost 23 lbs so far.

Stick with us as we go for healthy lives.

Happy MD.

July 4 sounds good to me, especially since I did not meet the Mothers Day challenge.

OK we have a July 4 challeng for health group to go to and post. It is under activity groups. Oops I just realized that you can't vote for each other in a group. let me set up a discussion thread so we can keep this format.
