Hello Everyone!!
I'm a new fitbit user. I've only had it for almost two months. I got it for my birthday in Oct. I have heart failure and I think I may be diabetic. I test my blood every morning and I'm usually between 6.1 and 7.2. I'll know for sure on Feb. 1st. I need all the encouragement I can get. I'm hoping to eventually be able to walk a mile or even reach 10,000 steps in a day. Right now I'm making my way to 5,000 in a day.

That's why we're all here, Joey, to encourage and to help one another. None of us are spring chickens. Many of us have had health issues and Fitbit enables us to track our progress (and on some days the lack of it). My husband was diabetic. He lost 60 lbs. walking with me and eating healthier. His doctor told him to keep doing what he was doing and now his diabetes has been reversed. Don't give up. Keep on steppin'.

I totally agree. Most of us have some kind of health issues but walking seems to be the best thing we can do. Keep up the good work.

Holidays are hard, aren't they? The good thing is, they will be over in a few weeks! It's important for us to forgive ourselves and not fall into the "Oh, well, I messed up, so I guess I'll quit trying..." attitude. I know, because I've done this any number of times. Remember: We can do this...

It is said by many informed people that getting one's 10K steps a day can stave off diabetes and help maintain any "reversal" one may have achieved. Dittos to all of us for keeping on stepping...

Hi Helena, I have had my fitbit zip for 5 days and to think I could "join a group" for people in my age group sounds good. Only travel is about 10000 steps a day goal! I bought a Zip after being hit with tv ads here in Australia. I was curious to find out how many steps I took each day around the house and garden and am really suprised at the results. Add to this a 30 min walk pushes it up a little but the ideal walk goal now is 4kms. I would be happy to join with you in trying to lose weight - I have 10kg goal in mind and I am 75.

Hi everyone, happy new year and all the very best for your weight loss and getting fit and healthy this year. I purchased a Charge HR and an aria wi fi scale on the 1st of January and my husband helped me set it up as I am pretty pathetic on the computer really. I then promptly joined a 90 day 20 pound weight loss challenge so I am happy to be doing that. The FitBit equipement is so motivational and amazing and I am still finding my way around on it. I will be 63 at the end of March so the challenge timing is perfect.Today my husband purchased a Charge HR so it will be neat to compare notes. He does not need to lose weight but he likes to get fit.

I'm 71 and using Fitbit since 2012. What a great little motivator it is! Last week (New Year resolution), upped my goal to 12,000 per day. In a normal week, I can fairly easily reach 10k, so thought I'd increase my effort -- to have something to strive for. Happy New Year, everyone!

I'm 63 and have had my Fitbit Zip since August 2015 and I work full time in an office and have a 90 minute commute each way so that's a lot of sitting! Walking and sticking to 1200 - 1500 calorie diet enabled me to lose 20 pounds in 3 months. I would like to lose 50 more pounds, quite a challenging goal.
