@Mermaid3011 Haha, yes Sarah (Plucky) and I have known eachother since we were tweens, I always get a kick of going to yarn events with her, she has such great style and is a wonderful person and friend. I am SO happy for her success, funny that she started dying yarn in her cottage kitchen crockpot and now she's a full blown real business.
Congrats on the new boyfriend too and the comfort/confidence that comes from losing weight.
@dancefoxtrot so I slipped and had a glass of wine last night, we were out eating italian, and I knew it would go so good with my dinner. I guess I am ok with a glass of wine with dinner, it's the social drinking where one drink leads to three, then I don't feel like exercising the next day. I am going to a family reunion on Saturday, and I'm going to bring a bunch of sparkling water, and plan on just drinking that. I have done a month off here and there, and it is interesting to see how social situations can be different. I agree, when I drink I am more relaxed, but I don't want it to be a crutch or hinder my weight loss goals. Those are priority!
I got my fitbit charge HR, so I'm excited to take it for a spin after work. 🙂

Hi Wordwhimsey,
Congrats on the Charge HR. I love mine. So what else can you do to increase the relaxed feeling with no loss of energy or hangover the next day? Do you know about the app headspace? It is free for 10 days of 10 minute meditation. I find that if I breathe in relaxation and calm with deep breaths it actually calms me down. When I pay attention to what I'm thinking I can usually see where the tension is coming from. Yep my very own automatic negative thoughts- ANTs. Then I can see what I'm worried about and know it is my active imagination fearing trouble and trying to warn me. Then I breathe in calm or loving kindness to soothe myself and go visit the people. Just what I do since I have a habit of making up scenarios that almost never come true. I'm sure it is from growing up in a tough neighborhood as a kid that helped make me wary. Just old stuff that I scare myself with to be self protective. Hmmm.
Good for you at stopping at 1 glass of wine with dinner. Family reunions are full of lots of dynamics and with sparkling water you can probably see them clearly.
Enjoy yourself and your food choices.

Yes I think that's how most hand dyers have started, like Tanis Fibre Arts and Indigodragonfly. I wish I had the courage to start something like that. But instead I am proud of every small business owner who manages to make a living from the fibre arts. That's why I mostly buy indipendant dyers instead of commercially, factory produced.

Hmpf... the only good thing of being sick is probably that I can't eat much and all I want is water and plain crackers. But what makes me really happy is the fact that I am now only 10 lbs away from a BMI that is not "obese" but "overweight".
I know I know.... for some of you this seems to be an awful idea to be overweight. But when I put it in perspective... overweight is my next big goal. LOL
It seems I have to readjust my Labour Day Goal again.

Happy and frustrated this morning. Weighed in at 165; and realized reaching 153 in five weeks is probably not going to happen. Not sure why I'm not loosing weight. Fitbit calculates my calories at below my consumption. I walk around 15K steps a day; eat around 1500 calories a day and fitbit calculates over 2200 cal burned a day. Any suggestions?

my advice is keep calm and carry on.
weight came on slow. it will leave slower.
my fitbit also shows a calorie deficit much bigger than my weight loss. maybe i underestimate serving sizes in my food log. maybe there is hidden calories in the foods (some are approximate).
I try to keep my focus on process - what I am doing and can do; and avoid getting too wound up in product (the rate of weight loss).
If you're doing what's good for your health: active, good food, and mindful eating; that's going to hold you in good shape for the long term.
keep living healthy.

Thanks for the encouragement.
Patience has never been one of my better virtues.
Will try and focus on something other than the scale. Like strength building. I have noticed my legs are getting in better shape and my clothes are fitting better.

If you want o loss more you need to move more or lower your calories. If you dropped you intake to 1200 you be at 1,000 deficate a day which should equal 2 lbs a week. But those numbers don't always for out. They have been consistant for me, but i have a lot of weight to loss. I eat around 1500 calories a day and fitbit calculates over 3600 for my weekly average per day. So I'm running at about 2k deficate, and drop about 3.5 lbs a week. But I'm on keto so have no hunger or energy issues.

I'm a newbie. I have had a fitbit for a while now but not joined any groups. Just wanted to see what I can do on my own. Obviously not working too well. I definitely need motivation.

Mermaid,
Nice to hear of your comfort with your body. Overweight is far better than obese and you are almost there. It is great to see you raising your goal another 4 lbs. It looks like good success as your loss is beating expectations. Your blood glucose and cholesterol is probably getting healthier, too.
Congrats,
Barbara

welcome dstg
We encourage each other. Do you have a plan to do a certain amount of steps each day? Have you given up fattening foods like junk food and processed food? If you give up sugar and empty starch and refined carbs and dance, walk, run, swim, bike, etc. you are sure to loss the excess. Share your plan with us.
We are doing this together.

Sooo easy to underestimate the portion size. I danced for 2 1/2 hours and drank only water so I went on autopilot driving home and ate 5 or 6 handfuls of raw almonds on the way home. Okay so they are a healthy snack BUT a quarter cup = 160. I ate about a whole cup I imagine or close to it then which = 640 darn calories. Auto pilot eating adds up. Fortunately I add only 220 cals for breakfast and one cheese stick =80 calories. So not balanced eating so far today and at 4:20 I have consumed 940 so I can eat lots of low cal veggies for the rest of the day.
Not a good practice to eat and driving as portion size can get ignored.
I'm resting my knee with ice on it but later I will garden and burn more cals. Also thinking of dancing tonight after the veggie and salmon dinner. So easy to go unconscious for a while.
Happy Sunday all you steppers and mindful eaters out there.

CoolazzRob,
kudos to you for doing what you needed to get where you want to be. Down to the last month of our challenge so no fudging now.
Eating veggies & salmon only for dinner.
My scale isn't budging in days but the morning may bring better news. I'm getting my steps in.
Best to you all,
Barbara

Okay this AM I made it back to 139.5 so 4.5 more lbs. to Labor Day which is 5 weeks and 1 day away. Going on vacation for a week with my vegan friend so we will eat healthfully. Just need to walk alot since I won't be dancing daily. She likes to walk so hopefully I can lose a lb. on vacation.
Happy Sunday all.
