May Mania 2017 Step Goal Challenge

ANSWERED

How It Works:

The purpose of this challenge is to keep track of your daily step goals for May 2017. This is not a competition to see who can do the most amount of steps, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency . So whether you do 100,1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of 31 for the month can you hit your goal.

Some of you might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and some might have a variable goal throughout the week, for example.

Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day

Sat & Sun = 6k steps a day

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for this challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format

1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.

2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

Optional

3) Post either your constant or variable calories burned goal.

4) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

5) Post either your constant or variable (anything you want) goal.

6) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

Injury Notice

If you injure yourself during the month and decide scale back the number of steps due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your daily step goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

8 / 31 days of 10,000 steps

7/31 days with 30 minutes of activity

I just couldn't do my half hour today. Ended up with a migraine, finally feeling well enough to do it now but really need to get some sleep for work tomorrow. I think next month I will set my goal to 6 days a week for 30 minutes of activity. That way if I have an off day I don't feel too disappointed with myself.

@JenniferinFL -- when you set challenging goals, and they should be challenging, building in some rest days makes a lot of sense.  Why wait until next month -- change your activity goal to 26 days out of 31 for May.

I hit my goals for days 7 and 8.  Both were lifting days.  (Sun and Mon are my only back to back lifting days).  I guess I did a good job Sunday because I woke up Monday with very sore lats.  Had to push myself to do weights Monday afternoon, but it wasn't bad once I started and soreness is mostly gone now).

Not a great day today.

It's 11pm here, I've just got home from work, I haven't eaten since lunch and I've only managed 7000 steps.

I could go back out and round up to 10k, but I just don't want to. I'm going to eat, shower and sleep.

I've been rather irritated by a member of our community in another thread. I'm a big fan of the mutually supportive nature of this small family and the presence of a blatant salesman has got my back up rather more than it should.

I think it might be best if I keep away for a few days.

Day Nine:

10,000 steps: 7/31
50 miles of running: 21.8/50

Please ignore my grumpy little tantrum last night!

I was tired, hungry and annoyed.

This morning I've been for a good run (9.3 miles/90 minutes) and feel much better about life, the universe and everything.

Yesterday - May 8th:

Started off a bit wonky for nutrition, as I was a bit stressed, but managed to go for a run, and have a good workout at the gym so it all balanced out.

12K Steps: 1/24 days

Nutrition: 1/20 days

I have had another rough morning today with a bit of snacking before work, but hoping to get back on track, and eat mindfully for the remainder of the day!

If you miss today, next Friday, May 19, will be bike to work day in the US.

Completed the step goal for May 10th. Pretty much, this week I am a slacker in all aspects. Barely finish my step goal and also border line on active minutes. So don't know what's happening with me.

I keep hoping that somehow my Fitbit will record Monday with activity. It shows that I'm at 4 out of 7 days so far, so, maybe.. lol

Anyhow, otherwise I've gotten my 10,000 steps everyday this month and gotten 30 minutes of activity everyday except this Monday.

Day 3 of the challenge for me.

I was able to fit within my nutritional goal, but I feel I could have done much better! Picture the lights out in the kitchen and snacking on cashews from the kitchen when my partner comes in to see what I'm doing. Instant shame. Well, just try to be better today right?

Perhaps your Fitbit doesn't like Mondays?
