New to FitBit, 70+ lbs to lose

Hey!  I'm 33, had my second child 8 months ago and gained a ton of weight in the last trimester.  I was 165lbs at the beginning of my pregnancy and doing hot yoga 6x/week, plus running.  I was determined not to go down the same road as I did with my first pregnancy, when I gained almost 90lbs, but I have hip dysplasia and the weight of the baby by the end of the 2nd trimester made any activity extremely painful.  Walking to pick my daughter up from school was daily agony - pretty disheartening to go from fit and active to gaining 60lbs in three months.

When my daughter was five months old, my mom died of cancer.  During my first trimester of pregnancy with this baby, my dad was diagnosed with cancer.  Chemo again, and he declined rapidly after I gave birth and died three months ago when my son was five months old.  A pretty crappy coincidence, and I definitely coped with reliving my mom's death and losing my dad through emotional eating.  I'm not happy to be back in almost exactly the same place I was after I had my daughter.  I worked really bloody hard to lose that 90lbs and now I'm back at square one!

I'm hoping FitBit will be the tool I need to stay on track.   I lost all the weight from my first pregnancy solo - cut out refined carbs and started running - but I wasn't able to do it until I stopped nursing.  I'm still planning to nurse for at least another year, but I simply cannot stand living in this body I don't recognize.

I know it's only been five days, but I've been sooo disciplined with my eating!  FitBit is suggesting a 1300 cal/day intake.  I've stayed between 1100-1500 cals/day... and GAINED four pounds in four days.  How is this even possible? I've been meticulous, no refined carbs, tons of veggies and tons of water.

I will stick with it, hoping that I can push through and start to see the scale moving in the right direction. Looking for friends with similar goals.

Hi Everyone,

I would love to join this group. I have had my Fitbit since November, but just in the past couple weeks have really been using it religiously. I turned 40 in December and need to lose about 80 pounds. I am just trying to eat clean. Very little processed food, eating out just once a week. NO Fast Food. Not always easy, as when I get stressed I go for bad things. I used to LOVE my Coke. Still do, but haven't had one in almost 4 weeks. In the past 4 weeks I have lost a little over 10 pounds. I am going to add in more activity, to kind of up the game, so to speak.

I'd love to participate in any challenges too.

Thanks,

Kim

Nice Joe! Back in the day I was a Coke drinker too. Diet just tasted nasty to me. I got use to the taste of diet but don't have a DC very often. 15lbs is crazy good!

If you are nursing you really need to eat more calories than FitBit is suggesting. Did you change your goal to a smaller food deficit in your accounts setting? You can find that by going to account, go to goals and scroll down to food deficit and change that to a more manageable number. You look like you are eating way too little and need to eat more otherwise you will not lose any weight because you put your body into starvation mode not eating enough.

Anyway, having said that, I have quite a bit of weight to lose. It has been 13 years since I've been pregnant and not planning to have any more kids. My weight gain is cumulative from being stressed and depressed and now I am willing to work to get that extra weight off.

I'd like to add you as a Fitbit friend if that is okay with you? I could use some more friends that can challenge me and I'll help challenge you.

Hi,

Yes, you can add me as a friend. I am trying to do challenges as often as I can too.

I really haven't been using the Fitbit food component. I do wonder about it though. I have just been trying to eat a more clean, less processed diet. Doing more cooking at home too.

Thanks,
Kim

I would love to join this group, having to weigh in weekly is something I need to do.  I have our family vacation coming up the first week of June and I would love to be at least 35-40lbs less!  If I can lose 3lbs a week I can reach my goal.  Any motivation is much appreciated, recipes, exercise tips I'll take them all.  I am to the point where I don't want to feel like the fat frumpy mommy, I want to be that hot mommy in the pool with her babies and the hot wife my husband deserves.  My ultimate goal is to lose 85 lbs by the end of this year!

Sorry for the delay, I am under a physician care, I am taking phentamine and shot of B-12. Also a 1000 calorie diet with no fat and low carb. I lost 22 in one month.

That is a very intense diet and a massive weight loss @JOE0459 !

I really hope it goes well and the weaning off the phentermine is smooth; I was given phentermine for a couple of months and I couldn't handle it since my heart was always racing, I had insomnia, minor twitching and permanent thirst. Consult any possible side effects with your physician if your diet is for a longer period of time.

I'm sure @Heybales may shed some light on the Phen+VLCD combination Cat Happy

Hi -

I would like to join this group. I have 60 lbs to take off. I'm very active - run, yoga, weights, etc. But I like to eat - so sadly i don't drop any pounds even with my activity.

I'm thinking about upping my steps, but it's so hard to get them in with a sendintary job. Ugh.

Excited to be apart of the journey.

Best,

Merissa
