@whitesox take it easy on yourself. If it's a replenishment meal, don't think of it as cheating. I often will realize I am feeling weak or depleted and eat a little extra overall or a few carbs to get back on track. When we are really listenign to what our body needs, we can simply nourish it. I plan on doing this very long term. I know what to eat most days and then I can respond to what my body tells me as well. Sometiems my output has been different or just a slow depletion of something over time. For so long I just shoved whatever I felt like into my mouth, ignoring my body's actual needs. It is a gift to ourselves to listen to and feed our bodies.

I have found measuring my own body fat to be quite simple. I bought a caliper for $5 on amazon, it works fine. I think because of my large weight loss and loose skin, my bf% shows higher by measurement than with a caliper. I range from 5.5% to 7.5% depending on how I measure.

I am replying to your message because I can't figure out how to just add a post to this thread. Yeah, I'm confused. I love the idea of a caliper, simple and it will probably work, gonna get one in a few days.
Another beginners quest ions: So, how do I post my weekly weigh in? does it go under my original post so I can see the weekly differences, or is it just added to the end of this thread? In another forum a 'reply' is added under the original post while a 'new post' goes at the bottom. Thanks and keep on keeping on everyone. Think well of yourself, appreciate your body for all the great stuff it does for you without any instruction.

@philchenevert, I usually just reply to my last post. If you don't select "quote", it looks like a new post. We don't have a set format, everyone seems to do their own thing. I wouldn't mind standardization but everyone has different goals and this is about accountability not comparing so just do whatever works for you. I like to keep track of where I started, my previous weigh in and my +/- for the week but that's me.
Welcome here, I find this helps.

@philchenevert Here, it seems, any reply is added to the bottom of the thread instead of being nested with the post it was a reply to. So anytime you want to participate in a thread, simply hit 'reply' on any post.
What I do is find my last update and reply to that, so I can copy the data from last week's post and update it accordingly.

Ah ha! I understand and that is the procedure I will try next; finding my last post and changing the current weight .... (note I tried the 'quote' thingie tis time to see what it looks like.)

WEEK TWO OF MY WEEKLY WEIGH-IN FOR ACCOUNTABILITY.
highest weight 212 lbs.
goal weight 144 (I am a short old guy, 5'4" with 76 fun filled years)
WEEK 1 JAN 16, 2017 BEGINNING WEIGHT 161.6 pounds
WEEK 2 JAN 23, 2017 CURRENT WEIGHT 162.2 pounds + 0.6 pounds
uh ... that ain't the direction I want to go, this being 'accountable' has it's drawbacks. But I am patient with my body and my mind and will stay on the calorie track I've chosen as best for me. On the positive side I did reach 10K steps every day this past week, a noteworthy achievement for me, usually one or two days fall short. And I am continuing my 3x week weight workout so that is fabulous. Now if could just get a little taller .........
this morning weight 1/23 161.6 pounds

Forgot to weigh myself yesterday so here is my weekly weigh in.
SW 158.8# 1/10/17
CW 156.2
IG 145#
GW 135#
Gentelman close your ears this may be TMI. I had actually gotten down to 155# but then popped back up a couple pounds as it's Aunt Flows visit this week. That's pretty normal for me to hole a couple pounds of water during that week.
I'll keep trudging on. Scheduled to go to Orange Theory tongiht where they will kill me and burn calories, lol.

Hi @philchenevert.
There used to be a reply button outside of replying to a single post but it disappeared. I think it is something to do with the thread being labelled solved but I dont know how that happened. I just reply to the last post now.

Between my cold and wedding planning I was having trouble staying active this week. I really want to get back into the weight training routine I had going before the holidays. I'm going to make it my goal to weight train at least once next week. I'll start from there and build my way up.
Starting Weight: 195.4 lbs
Current Weight: 189.8 lbs
Weight Lost this Week: 1.8 lbs
Size Lost this week: 1.5 cm / 0.59 in
Total Weight Lost: 5.6 lbs
Total Size Lost: 8.2 cm / 3.23 in
Mini-Goal: 180 lbs
Goal Weight: 150 - 160, depending on how I feel at 160.

I'm game. Hopefully, this will hold me more accountable.
Short back story to let you folks know me better. I am 30 (turning 31 this year). I have 2 daughters aged 5 (6 this year) and 2 (3). End of 2015 I had a herniated disk in my cervical spine that required a disc replacement. During the recovery, I went from ~230 to 241 and started having lots of pain in my feet and legs when resting them for long periods. Self-diagnosed myself with planters fasciitis and had finally had enough of my continually bulging waistline. Decided it was finally time to actually USE my Fitbit (I've had one since Christmas of 2014). Since March 6th of 2016, I have hit my daily step goal every day. I have increased the goal twice from 10K up to 11K then up again to 11.5K. Early March is when I hit my highest weight of 241+. I've hit a couple plateaus here and there but a small tweak here and there has thus far pushed me through it (small diet changes (cutting out snacking, watching my caloric intake to make sure I wasn't overeating), step goal changes, etc.) and to date, I have lost almost 37lbs. My goal weight is somewhere around 160 - 165 as that is the middle ground of my normal BMI range but could go lower if I feel I need to. Lowest I would go is upper 140's. I was 135 in high school and I looked like I had an eating disorder (I didn't, just a crazy high metabolism). Don't want to look like that again. I will set a reminder on my phone to update this post on Monday so I can start tracking my weekly weight loss/gain depending.
Starting Weight: ~241+ lbs (I remember the 241 but nothing else)
Current Weight: 204.3 lbs
Last Week's Weight:
Weight Lost this Week:
Total Weight Lost: 36.7 lbs
Mini-Goal: Sub 200 lbs
Goal Weight: 160-165 but may change since that is middle of normal BMI for my height.

Last weigh-in for January!
Start: 253 lbs
Last Week: 171.8 lbs
This Week: 169.0 lbs
Change: - 2.8 lbs
Total Loss: - 84 lbs
Goal : 125
I can't believe it, but I am officially out of the "obese" BMI category! This was a major goal of mine, but I didn't think I'd hit it until next week's weigh in on February 1st. So, now I am "overweight" according to the BMI charts - yay!
Starting this week, I will be adding more calories. Nothing major, just 50 calories, but I need to go slow given my thyroid history.
The next major goal is to get to 141, which is when I enter the "normal weight" BMI category - 28 pounds to go for this one. Mini goal is to get into 150s - hopefully, this one I'll be able to hit in March, but we'll see. I am adding calories, so weight loss will inevitably slow down.

UGW- No idea yet
Changing up my post a little this week:
CW: 259.8
So, from Feb 2016 that's 100.2 pounds down. It's not quite 52 weeks, but I use that as a counter. That means it's 1.93 lbs/week. It's a milestone I have mixed emotions about. It's a great accomplishment, but I feel the diet/workout burnout pulling at me. I idled around Christmas so I don't need a refeed, but I feel like I need a break. From what I don't know. There's also some work stuff going on, and that is probably not helping.
Anyway, next week back to the usual format. Have a good week everyone. I'm not logging on as much but I do eventually catch up on how everyone is doing.

Hello. I've been gone from here since October. We had a family tragedy that really threw me for a loop. I've settled a bit now and want to work on this weight again. Luckily I gained most of my weight back, but not all of it. Getting my steps in is never a problem as I have an active job. Stuffing my face is a problem.
starting weight:80 kilos
current weight:79.6 kilos.
I had been down 3 kilos, which doesn't sound like much, but I'll take anything I can get. My goal weight is 70 kilos.
The year before I turned 50 I asked myself if I wanted to be fat for the rest of my life. I lost 10 kilos then. It took me a year but that was ok. I will be retiring in 2018. I am once again asking myself if I want to be fat for the rest of my life. I need to lose the same 10 kilos again! It did take me over 10 years to gain it back!

@A_Lurker: wow, this is plain amazing, you can be proud of yourself! You (and your body) have definitely deserved a break and some kind of reward.
