Hi everyone!

I've been off the grid lately and haven't had a chance to post but I've been lurking around in the background trying to keep up with everyone's progress.

For the last several months I have only been weighing every Friday.  The last few weeks there has been such a swing in the numbers that I decided to try weighing 2x a week for awhile to see the different fluctuations and make sure I'm staying within my range.  Here's where I'm at so far....

USW:  224.5 (07/06/16)

CSW:  150.0 (Friday, 06/02/17) - 74.5

PW:     147.5 (Friday, 06/09/17) - 2.5

PW:     150.5 (Friday, 06/16/17) +3.0

PW:     146.0 (Tuesday, 06/20/17) -4.5

PW:     148.5 (Friday, 06/23/17) +2.5

Goal:  Maintain between 148.0 - 152.0

With so many activities/party's/etc. coming up, my goal is to weigh on Tuesdays and Fridays for the summer months to hopefully keep myself in line and not over-indulge.  I have been able to keep up with working out at least 5x/week incorporating strength training 3x a week.

Have a good week everyone and good luck with your individual goals.

Nice job @Baltoscott! Keep up the good work! And, yes, it's hard to believe the year is almost half over! 🙂

Thanks @Dave001.  Interesting how world markets work.  The US Amazon store doesn't have the same brand, but I bought three similar versions in the $15 - $20 range, which is 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of the superfeet.   This one had the same pattern in the cutouts between the top and bottom materials as what you get, though the color and seller is different.  Probably made in the same place.

Thanks, @SunsetRunner

last weigh in of the month and this weigh in marks 40kg lost. A big number yet I'm frustrated. I went into this understanding that it could take a few years and yet I've lost over 40kg in 8 months. Yet stupidly I'm annoyed that it's not fast enough.

Perhaps  this is my plateau. More mental then physical. I know I should be pleased with myself yet all I want is to be at the finish line already. Guess I'll just keep plugging away. Despite the frustration I'm happy with my new lifestyle. I have no complaints with my eating habits and I enjoy my sessions at the gym. I just need to focus on these things and stop stressing the time it takes

All right, first full week back on the bandwagon:

USW 200.4 (6/17/17)

PCW 200.0 (6/19/17)

CW 198.8 (6/26/17)

Weight Change this week: -1.2

Total Weight Lost: -1.6

CGW: 190

UGW: ~130

I had tried running again, but the plantar fasciitis is back now on both feet. The inserts and stretches help, but I'm on vacation this week, I'll take it easy and just walk about in the morning. Gonna do my best to keep the step count about 10,000.

None Weight Success Story: Most days, I did not partake of any sweets. This week, I'm looking at no sweets for the whole week! The first two weeks sugar free are the worst, so I'm hoping to do it now while my motivation is up.

Last week was a moderately good week activity-wise, and an okay-ish week food-wise. I am starting to feel more energetic, which is good, and it’s getting easier to hit 10,000 each day, even on the days I think I’m going to be mostly sedentary, so that inertia is very encouraging.

I have spent a fair amount of time pondering this path, and my potential success on it. A few years ago I had done something very similar to what I’m doing now – I started a food journal, got better at managing my caloric intake, and eventually started running. The result of that was I lost about 50 lbs and was able to “run” a 10k. I was so proud of my accomplishments. But as I found success I decided I was capable of managing my food without a journal, and after the 10k I took a break that has lasted basically until now. So I wonder what I will do differently this time to avoid regaining it all again (and then some). I haven’t yet found the answer. The thought of writing in a food journal for the rest of my life is kind of life-sucking, even though I know it’s so **ahem** helpful.

At least for the time being I don’t have to worry about maintenance J that’s still a ways off. For today, enjoying the progress I have made in the past two weeks.

Not a whole lot to report.  My weekends are now active at the lake with walking, skiing, cycling, etc but it's also a little easier to fill the plate out there too so I am working at balance.  I am excited for another summer being lean and fit and able to experience life with my family.  Ultimately, that's what it's about.

Starting weight:
1st Jan 2017 142kg

23rd May 2017 118.4kg
31st May 2017 117.4kg
5th June 2017 116.6kg
13th June 2017 115.9kg
20th June 2017 115.3kg

27th June 2027 116kg 🍕🍩🐷

Whoops! Slight gain this week.

I know why. I was feeling really hungry after smashing my target time in the 10km road race on Sunday (target <60mins, actual 54:32), so rewarded myself with an absolute feast of pizza.

It was bloody delicious and worth the slight setback!

🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕

I've also allowed myself to become slightly complacent. Rather than leaving the cakes and biscuits alone that do the rounds at work, I've been having "just a little". Unfortunately more than one "just a little" soon adds up!

But the good news is that I'm aware of my shortcomings and can now concentrate on being more mindful of them.

In other good news, I'm in love with road racing. I'm going to be entering a lot more running races! 🏃🏃🏃

I have been slacking on posting here. I apologize for that. I am now at a stage where just losing weight is going to result in more lean mass loss so my goals are shifting a bit. I recently joined a local Rec Center so I can start some strength training to build more lean mass to burn off my fat pockets I still have. I am not wanting to put myself in danger by continuing to cut calories to stay in a deficit at the detriment to my health. So, starting this week, I will start posting my fat percentage and fat mass plus lean body mass to start using that to track my health change. Also this week, I am going to increase my caloric intake (albeit slowly) to facilitate muscle building. My goal isn't to become a body builder, just to increase my lean mass.

Starting Weight Breakdown: ~241 lbs

     Fat Percentage/Mass: 34.1%/82.2 lbs

     Lean Mass: 158.8 lbs
Current Weight Breakdown: 174 lbs

     Fat Percentage/Mass: 18.3%/32 lbs (-1.5 lbs)

     Lean Mass: 142lbs (-1.9 lbs)
Weight Breakdown 2 Weeks Ago: 177.4 lbs

     Fat Percentage/Mass: 18.8%/33.5 lbs

     Lean Mass: 143.9lbs

@tamado

it's great to read that you're still working on balance - I think it's easy to forget that even after goals are met, we have to keep working on them (darnit)

Sounds like you're gearing up for a great summer!

@IMchika, I hear you on the food journal.  I have moved to intuitive eating but spot check myself occasionally.  I'll estimate about how much I've eaten in my head for a day and then log it in fitbit and see if I'm close.  I created a lot of "meals" for myself so I could log easily.  Some were just "mix of vegetables" or "breakfast hash".  Even if I switched my lunch salad from beef to chicken, I wouldn't always change the log as long as it was similar size.  Once you're not counting every calorie, a period of "sloppy" or rough numbers can keep you from going off the rails.  Knowing you get to log a square of chocolate instead of a family sized mounds bar can be fairly motivating in itself.
It all kind of centers around mindfulness, doesn't it?

So no change this week. I fully blame myself, though. The scale was moving down, then over the weekend I was stupid and got a nasty sunburn during my weekly trail run. The very next day the scale jumped up and hasn't moved since. So, bad sunburns = water retention. I figured I'd be OK not putting any sunscreen on my shoulders/back because it's a trail and has a lot of shade. Wrong, very wrong. It was in the 90s here in the Pacific Northwest, so that didn't help. So, now not only am I retaining water, I am also in a lot of pain. Don't be like me, folks, put on that sunscreen even if you don't think you'll need it!

Hang in there @AuroraKat. Sorry to hear you're in pain. I've done that to myself more times than I care to admit. Hope you feel better soon!
