Happy New Year Everyone! I was traveling for the holiday and not able to weigh or post on Monday. But I weighed yesterday and am pleased to make this post today. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip (to London for NYE)! I had small portions of decadent, flavorful foods and a few adult beverages to ring in the new year. I also killed my step goals, walked & took the subway (underground)everywhere and danced my way into the new year. So, I managed to not gain anything last week. It has finally become a lifestyle for me!

Hi Everyone. Sounds like a great group of people here. I'm in for doing a weekly weigh in. Found out I was pre-diabetic just a couple of months back. Need to be accountable to someone so I lose weight and get my glucose back under control. That is my new year resolution for this year.
Current weight 169. I want to get down to 145 which I know that will take a while. But if I see that current weight number dropping I will be happy.
Happy New Year everyone and have a great day and a great weekend.

Hi @Tybokitty. Welcome to the group! I got similar news about being pre-diabetic a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it took me until this year to get really serious about it. I'm still in the 'pre' category and refuse to get the diagnosis of diabetes. Congratulations to you for taking matters into your own hands quickly! Changing your lifestyle (eating well & exercising regularly) will surely help you to regulate your glucose levels and the weight will come off as a side effect. Good Luck to you!! I look forward to seeing your posts and celebrating with you as all of your numbers go down. Happy New Year!

Hey everyone, would you benefit from being able to log your weight by speaking to your Fitbit especially if you are weighing I. Without a aria.
If yes, then please vote at the following link future suggestion

Hope everyone had a good start to the New Year! I didn’t make the goal by Christmas, but I finally broke through the 70 kg barrier last week. Whoop!
My weight loss +/- stagnated over the holidays with party food and drinks, and (not insignificant for a Texan living abroad!) the discovery of a new local corn chip akin to Fritos! But I’ve fallen back into my newer better patterns of living = eating healthier and less, and getting regular exercise. The Jumping January 2018 Step Challenge provides additional motivation to keep active.

Wow, Jan. 7, 2018 ... I've been at this for a year now!
Jan. 6, 2017: 202.3 lbs (starting weight)
Ave. daily calorie consumption for week preceding weigh-in.
- .03 lbs since 12.17
Goal Range: 160-170 lbs
Current goal is to lift weights and "bulk up" at the rate of about .5 to 1 lbs/week until I get to around 170 lbs. After that I will probably "cut" back to 160 lbs.

Hi everyone.
I've owned a FitBit Blaze for quite a long time, but I've never really used it to it's full potential. I have finally decided to change my life for the better and get healthier and I started this morning. I will be posting my results next week, even if I'm not going to consider exclusively weight loss as a goal, I want to get healthier, that's my main focus.
Of course, weightloss is part of getting healthier, so that's why I'm doing this.

This is what happens when you go to Grand Central Market and try everything! Oh well. Today is a new day and a new opportunity to do better. I don't regret a single moment. I'm living a wonderful, generally healthy life and checking in with all of you every week is motivation for me to stay on track. It's also a way to quickly correct behaviors that do not serve me. Happy Monday everyone!

Start 265 lbs 09/27/2015
Last Week 161 01/02/2018
This week 158.8 01/08/2018
Maintenance mode
Loss Range 105 lbs +/- 5 lbs (target 155-165)
So, last week I was kind of freaking out and worried I had started weight gain momentum (my wife had to talk me down a few times). I literally jumped up with excitement today when I saw 158.8 on the scale. At this point, I know I can't fixate on minor fluctuations but I was so worried I had started a weight gain momentum and to know that a week of mindful eating just brought it right back is so re-assuring to me. For those of you out there losing right now and hoping that maintaining will be possible, I am here to tell you it is! My weight curve all of last year was a flat line and I am excited to make it look the same again this year!

@tamado. Yes, it really is. The graph below is my weight trend for the past year. The part I'm most proud of (and was most worried I could not do) is the flat line from August to January.
The challenge now is trying to overcome my fear that adding some weight so I can build muscle won't turn into a steady march upward that I can't stop!
Flat line - sometimes it's a good thing!

I plan to gain weight over the course of 16 weeks at an average pace of 0.25 kg per week (about 1 kg per month).
Here are my numbers for the past week (including average step count and energy expenditure):
Week 0, ending 18-Dec-17: 60.2 kg (13.0%), 11.2k steps, 2523 cal.
Week 1, ending 25-Dec-17: 60.5 kg (13.4%), 5.9k steps, 2390 cal. -> +0.23 kg
Week 2, ending 1-Jan-18: 60.6 kg (13.6%), 14.0k steps, 2629 cal. -> +0.17 kg
Week 3, ending 8-Jan-18: 61.1 kg (13.6%), 16.2k steps, 2887 cal. -> +0.49 kg
I overshot with my weight gain over the past week, but I’m only 0.15 kg over budget in cumulative terms.
Here is where I currently stand during this muscle mass gaining phase:
Week | Ending | weight goal | body fat historical | weight actual | body fat actual |
Week 0 | 18.Dec.17 | 60.20 | |||
Week 1 | 25.Dec.17 | 60.45 | 60.5 | 13.4
Week 2 | 01.Jan.18 | 60.70 | 60.6 | 13.6
Week 3 | 08.Jan.18 | 60.95 | 14.7 | 61.1 | 13.6 |
Week 4 | 15.Jan.18 | 61.20 | |||
Week 5 | 22.Jan.18 | 61.45 | |||
Week 6 | 29.Jan.18 | 61.70 | |||
Week 7 | 05.Feb.18 | 61.95 | 15.0
Week 8 | 12.Feb.18 | 62.20 | |||
Week 9 | 19.Feb.18 | 62.45 | |||
Week 10 | 26.Feb.18 | 62.70
Week 11 | 05.Mar.18 | 62.95 | 15.6
Week 12 | 12.Mar.18 | 63.20
Week 13 | 19.Mar.18 | 63.45
Week 14 | 26.Mar.18 | 63.70
Week 15 | 02.Apr.18 | 63.95 | 16.3
Week 16 | 09.Apr.18 | 64.20 |
Average BF% has remained unchanged since last week and is still well below the goal, which is positive. Other than that, weight training has been going well, I’ve been more active overall and I enjoy eating all the food.

Great to find a community of like minded (determined) folks. I'm going to weigh in tomorrow. My goal is to weigh 165 pounds. I also have a long term exercise goal (walking 2000 miles this year). I bought myself a fitbit after Christmas. I had no idea how much walking I did during the course of the day. In addition I walk three to five miles as exercise on most days. So I'm pretty sure that 2000 miles is doable.

Welcome to the "Weekly Weigh In" @BillyD3711. Since you are shooting for 2000 miles this year (definitely doable!), I thought you might be interested in following this 2018 Miles in 2018 thread as well. The more the merrier!

On the one hand, I’m relieved that my ‘trend’ still says a weekly loss. On the other hand, I am dissatisfied that it has slowed down A LOT! Well, I admit I have been sneaking the occasional cookie out of the tin. I know what I have to do... 🤐

My goal since mid-December is to lift weights and "bulk up" at the rate of about .5 to 1 lbs/week until I get to around 170 lbs. After that I will probably "cut" back to 160 lbs.
Jan. 6, 2017: 202.3 lbs (starting weight)
fitbit's net calorie calculation for the week preceding weigh-in.
+2 lbs since 12.17
Goal Range: 160-170 lbs
Up 0.8 lbs for the week. This "bulking" phase started around the middle of last month, so I've updated my prior weigh-in list to start with my December 17 weigh-in.
I'm am also showing my net calories as calculated by fitbit (calories in - calories burned). Over the past 4 weeks fitbit "predicted" I would lose 1.5 lbs, even though I gained 2 lbs. This is consistent with my rate of weight loss last year. Fitbit usually predicted I would lose more than I actually did. That's why daily weigh-ins and this weekly weigh-in thread has been key in meeting my goals. It provides feedback on the fitbit energy calculations and allows me to adjust as needed.
In a few weeks (once I hit around 162 lbs where I've got good data) I'll put together a table similar to @Dominique's showing my scale-reported fat percentage at weight milestones as I increase weight up to 170 comparing it to the percentages recorded while I decreased from 170 to 160 last year. The idea is that you need to be a calorie surplus (as you do anaerobic exercise) to build muscle. If my body cooperates and actually does that, it should show up as lower fat percentages at each weight milestone.
