Start 265 lbs 09/27/2015
Last Week 161 01/17/2018
This week 160.4 01/22/2018
Maintenance mode
Loss Range 105 lbs +/- 5 lbs (target 155-165)
Basically unchanged again. I am eating clean and monitoring closely.
This weekend I was changing shirts and my wife asked me if I was sucking it in and flexing. I was not. So, that felt pretty good. We had a chuckle about it. It's tough to see small incremental changes in our selves after seeing dramatic weight loss but I am working at building muscle and tone and that will likely come with a higher scale number. That is taking time to accept. After years of obesity and living in denial of the scale I am not trying to understand as much about myself as I can with the data available.
I ran all of my measurements for bf % again and the highest I can get is 9.xx%. If I round numbers up, read on the high side on all measurements and pinch as much skin as I can, this is what I get. If I read what I feel is accurately I get in the 5% range which is not realistic based on the images on the internet.
I get skin fold tests between 2 and 8 mm depending on location and my waist is 29-30 (if I use 30 I get close to 10%) and my neck is 15", etc. I don't remember all of the numbers off the top of my head but I used 6 different calculation methods so it must be worth something.

I have been sticking to my plan this week & hope to continue to do so. So far, so good. I hope everyone has a great day.
@tamadoThat is great that your wife commented on how you were fitting in your shirt. That must be a wonderful non-scale victory booster for you to stay on track. Keep up the good work.
@EmjayH, Sorry you had a gain. You have the right idea to brush it off & make today & this week count. Yesterday is in the past, but today holds your future. I hope you find a strategy to deal with the snacking. Best of luck.
@Jotex, thanks, I am cheering for you this week also.

The ride of putting back on 80 of the 120lbs I lost and going back from 240 to 320s has been eye opening in many ways.
The 1st 1/3 (roughly) of the 80lbs that I put back on just happened so fast that I truly didn't know what hit me. It was like blinking and then waking up and now i'm close to 270. Alcohol was def a factor in masking things of what actually was going on. Even though it was around 25lbs I didn't feel a huge physical difference. Peoples comments about "you look great" or whatever started to fall off.
The 2nd 1/3, going up to 290s I think I was some form of denial of what actually happened. I tried just about everything I could think of to make it stop like coming up with new ideas to get me to change. Physically I started to feel things ( getting winded easier, harder to get up out of chair, etc, clothes not quite fitting the way they used to). Alcohol was used in a way like I've never used it before to mask what was going on. It was this period where I really started worrying about "all my wins, nsvs, badges" just slipping away. +4lbs one week, +7lbs another, at a time. People around me changed because they could really tell at this stage what was happening. My activity level tapered down quite a bit also.
The last 1/3, going up to 320s I moved into a true "screw it stage". Junk food was tasting good, sweets were tasting good. Let's go for a walk...LATER. I had purged a lot of my large clothes way back and at this stage clothes were not fitting. I went on a vacation down to Florida and had to buy tshirts that fit. While I was on vacay I just ate anything and everything. Double dinners, 4 chocolate bars after breakfast, entire bags of mini donuts at night. The airline seat was tight again, doing shoes up was a lot more challenging then i remembered. People all around me are concerned for sure. So with the whole new year rolled in and about to return from my foodcation I made big plans on the airplane flying home that when I landed I was going to get on top of things. Fast forward about an hour landing I had consumed 3 DD Donuts, 3 huge slices and then finished it off with cake and pie and an energy drink before I even got home. Just shows the brutality of this "screw it stage".
This routine I was in during the past 4/5 months and esp the 3rd is basically a one-way express flight to an early grave. It just is if I continue with 5,6,7k daily binges, not moving at all and putting on roughly 20lbs a month. What threw me off my plan when I was 240 was not really knowing about whats next in terms of other goals and stressing about it. I incorrectly linked not knowing what to do and stressing about it to terminating my journey.
I just made the decision about 2 weeks ago that I do not with to take that early grave flight and I do not enjoy everything that comes with being at a higher weight. If I can use my weight loss mission to help with other goals that I have or vice versa that is fine but I WILL NOT let frustrations from other goals interfere with my weight loss mission.

@almost_where, thank you for your honest and reflective post! That must have taken a lot of courage to hit the "post" button after typing that. We are so used to celebrating victories in these groups but we do not always know how to support when someone is slipping away. Welcome back and I hope we can help support and keep you accountable. No one likes to do the same work twice so I hope you have found a deep motivation to keep going.
At a yoga class last week a woman who is about 6 months post-partum said she needed to lose weight because she was tired of hating herself. Without thinking, I responded to a woman I had never met before with "don't lose weight because you hate yourself, do it because you love yourself". It is such a fundamental difference in mentality that moves us from dieting to a new lifestyle. So, I hope you love yourself and give yourself the gift of health. Go into this journey with joy and energy and life!

Just got my Fitbit Charge2 last week after a year of going to the gym and not losing any weight. But I was not counting calories. Seems that is a pretty typical result, at least I was maintaining between 250 and 260. After one week of diet and exercise, I've lost 2 pounds! My goal weight is to get down 234 and then maintain for a couple of months before losing another 10%. My ultimate goal is 160.

@almost_where, what an amazing & heartfelt post. I appreciate the brutal honesty in it. I think it is great that you realized you didn't want to get near your highest weight & started taking action to get back in control. Steel yourself for success, aim for progress, not perfection. You have accomplished this before, you got this!
@HisDudeness, Hello & welcome to the Weekly Weigh In thread. Congrats on losing 2 lbs this week. I hope your new Fitbit & eating plan continue to help reach your goal.
@tamado, What a lovely comment you made to that lady in your yoga class. I hope she took it to heart.
Take care everyone & have a wonderful day.

My goal since mid-December is to lift weights and "bulk up" at the rate of about .5 to 1 lbs/week until I get to around 170 lbs. After that I will probably "cut" back to 160 lbs.
Jan. 6, 2017: 202.3 lbs (starting weight)
fitbit's daily net calorie calculation during the week preceding weigh-in.
+2.7 lbs since 12.17
Goal Range: 160-170 lbs
I'm posting early this week because I'll be out of town from tomorrow for a week, and because 162 lbs is a milestone. The table below shows my recorded fat percentage at 1 pound intervals as I decreased last year from 170 to 162 lbs. As I increase back to 170 over the next few months, I will post the new fat percentages from the same scale (a Withings/Nokia WiFi scale). Assuming my weight lifting progress is actually building muscle, the fat percentage should be lower at each milestone. And for 162 lbs, it is down 0.3%! :0). Woohoo!

@almost_where -- there are so many people reading these forums going through what you've lived over the past couple of years and thinking they are the only ones. When you post about your backslides along with your successes, you give others going through the same struggle hope. That is really awesome. I'm glad you are turning it around.
@HisDudeness -- Welcome. It is indeed a marathon! It helps to remind everyone of that!
@Autumnwinds -- Thanks for the kudos. I sometimes feel weird continuing to post in this thread now that I'm trying to gain weight when most people here are trying to lose. But I do it because when I first found the thread a year ago I was inspired by people like @tamado who not only lost a lot of weight but kept it off and have continued to hang around demonstrating that this journey is as much about maintaining weight loss as it is losing the weight in the first place. Like lots of people, I've historically had a hard time maintaining a loss once I hit or got near my goal. This past year I've really tried to maintain the transition by adding new goals and continuing to built the habits I hope will last a lifetime. These journeys are a bit different for all of us, and it is great that we continue to have new people coming in to refresh the conversation as well as some mid- and long-term posters who show that even hard goals that are a year or more out can be met when you break the journey down into manageable steps.

I plan to gain weight over the course of 16 weeks at an average pace of 0.25 kg per week (about 1 kg per month).
Here are my numbers for the past week (including average step count and energy expenditure):
Week 0, ending 18-Dec-17: 60.2 kg (13.0%), 11.2k steps, 2523 cal.
Week 1, ending 25-Dec-17: 60.5 kg (13.4%), 5.9k steps, 2390 cal. -> +0.23 kg
Week 2, ending 1-Jan-18: 60.6 kg (13.6%), 14.0k steps, 2629 cal. -> +0.17 kg
Week 3, ending 8-Jan-18: 61.1 kg (13.6%), 16.2k steps, 2887 cal. -> +0.49 kg
Week 4, ending 15-Jan-18: 61.7 kg (13.8%), 17.9k steps, 2932 cal. -> +0.54 kg
Week 5, ending 22-Jan-18: 62.3 kg (14.4%), 10.3k steps, 2731 cal. -> +0.64 kg
Week 6, ending 29-Jan-18: 62.1 kg (15.0%), 11.4k steps, 2536 cal. -> -0.27 kg
After three consecutive weeks of gaining about twice as fast as I was supposed to, I actually lost slightly during the past week, though I did not consciously intend to. Anyway, this means I’m getting closer to the planned progression: after six weeks, I’m now only 0.4 kg ahead of the plan.
Here is where I currently stand during this muscle mass gaining phase:
Week | Ending | weight goal | body fat historical | weight actual | body fat actual |
Week 0 | 18.Dec.17 | 60.20 | |||
Week 1 | 25.Dec.17 | 60.45 | 60.5 | 13.4 | |

Awesome weekly reports, Peeps! Thanks for your encouragement last week @Dominique and @Autumnwinds — I’m backbin the game!! Alright, I’ll calm down now, but am encouraged to have lost .4 kg last week. And it was not an easy week for me — for personal family reasons. So, keeping upbeat, here are my stats:

At least my date to reach my goals is now September 2018 (not February 2019!). We've had some pretty heavy duty 'personal' stuff to deal with (hubby ... chemo and radiation), so notice my carb % has crept up (= comfort foods). This group keeps me grounded -- so THANKS! Have a good week, Peeps!

Last week was a deload week from weight training, and I was also away from home for the week (went to Ft. Myers, Florida -- a little bit of play but mostly work). The reported weight is from TrendWeight, but since I've only weighed in once (this morning at 161.5 lbs scale weight) since I left a week ago, it is hard to know whether it is a real weight loss or if it is mostly water. I'll have a better idea next week. There was a lot of social stuff going on, and being out of town it was hard to hit my routine. With all the variables, I'm actually kind of surprised I ate less than what I've done the last few weeks at home. Travel is usually associated with overeating!
No change to the table below because my weight went down instead of up as planned.
