First weigh-in of 2017 (and after all the parties)!

Start:           253 lbs

Last Week: 178.2 lbs

This Week: 177 lbs

Change:      - 1.2 lbs

Total Loss:  - 76 lbs

Goal :          125

Weighed in below average, but that's not surprising. Between the holiday parties and monthly hormonal fluctuations, I am pretty spot on with what I expected. Even though I was very apprehensive about the holiday season, I am very happy that all those extra calories did not derail me from losing weight.

There are a few things I reinforced for myself during the past few weeks, which I knew in theory, but not in practice:

- a few days of overindulgence among many days of sticking to my weight loss plan will not derail my efforts - there's no need to consider a day or a week "ruined" simply based on a couple of meals/parties

- letting myself have days off to enjoy, even if it means eating past my calorie allotment, is very theraputic; they allow me to enjoy holidays just like everyone else, which goes a long way towards preventing feelings of deprevation that often come with "dieting"

Having said that, I am glad the parties are over! I drank and ate way too much, and even though it was fun, my body definitely prefers eating healthily.

@Skullclutter - welcome to the thread! I am glad to have a Wednesday weigh-in buddy!

This Week: 169.8 lbs

Not quite the two pounds I wanted, but at least going in the right direction again. I go back to work on Monday (had a long holiday!), and I am looking forward to getting back into my normal routine. I haven't been overeating much and I always burn through my water and calorie goals everyday, but I also haven't been as active as I am when I'm in my office. When I leave the gym now, I either run errands and then laze around or cut straight to the lazing if I have nothing to pick up/do. Haven't been hitting my step goal consistently at all - I need to get on it!

Hi everyone!

Here we are again. Another week in the books and another weigh-in.

Starting weight: 224.5 pounds (07/06/16)

Previous weight: 182.0 (12/02/16)

Previous weight: 177.5 (12/16/16)

Previous weight: 177.0 (12/23/16)

Previous weight: 176.5 (12/30/16)

Current weight: 173.5 (01/06/17)

1 week loss: 3.0 pounds

Total loss to date: 51.0 pounds

Goal weight: 155

I was a little surprised at the 3 lb loss but I seem to go in spurts like the last few weeks at 0.5 lbs and now 3 lbs.

I have been struggling with the Fitbit / Myfitnesspal integration to track the calories left. There have been a few days that Myfitnesspal shows that I'm at my limit but then Fitbit shows a deficit. Not sure what's going on. I hope to figure it out by the time I reach my UGW so that I can maintain.

Have a good weekend!

Good for you.  Is there a daily diet menu to follow for the fast?  Sounds like total detox.  Good luck with that and the spiritual aspect as well.

So my weight was actually going up most of the week so I eventually increased my calories at the end of the week.  It did the trick and my weight came down this morning.  So, on the days I'm hitting over 4000 calories burned I'm going to do 2750 calories in.  For those that haven't been around that long, historically I don't do well on lower calories.  I have better luck with increasing my calories and keeping my activity levels up.

Maintenance mode week 30

Loss Range 100 lbs +/- 5 lbs

Still flushing out a bit of the holidays but pretty steady in maintenance mode.
Has anyone else noticed the impact of diet and exercise choices, both positive and negative, have a delayed effect?  I find that if I have a sedentary week like I did over the holidays and ate a little more than I needed (not excessive, just a bit) that over the next couple of weeks I will see my weight come up a bit.  Then, when I clean it up and get moving again it's a few weeks before I see the numbers come back down.  I wouldn't be surprised to see myself a touch higher next week but it won't be from what I ate this week.  Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to be a significant delay.

I have ended the year though 94 lbs lighter than I likely started it (my official start was Feb 2nd, 2016).  I also managed to do 20,000 steps a day for all of December.  A good year.

I managed to gain a tad this week which is surprising because I have had quite a good week. It was the last week of my holidays and I was pretty active.

I also notice @tamado that a good or bad week does not always show immediately on the scales.

Back to work tomorrow.

Well I have to say this has been about the most exciting week as far as weight loss wise.. I know there may be some negative comments about losing that much weight in a week, but first let me add a little TMI..lol. Last week was during my monthly cycle, so I am sure some of the weight was from that. Then, we have been on this Daniel Fast for 9 days now. Eating I guess as we probably should always eat, but hardly ever do...lol. This is the most weight I have ever lost in a week, so yes I am in a bit of shock on it, but all the same so happy to see the scale move downward.

With all that said I am pretty excited and praying that it stays off. lol. I can tell you I have not had one unhealthy bite in the last 9 days..lol. I am prepared for the weight changes when we do add more food into out diet after the fast, but all the same, hoping to continue more toward the way the fast is and just add some lean protein meats to it. I LOVE meat, so after the fast is over I will be adding meat back into my menu, but I do want to stay on the healthy fruits and veggies and not having the processed foods.

Well I am 0.4 ounces away from hitting my 45 pound mark and that is super exciting to me. I had a Christmas goal to be at my half way mark of 167.5 and I did not meet that goal, so I said I would use that same goal for my birthday goal (which is tomorrow)... So I am very happy to have achieved that. *YAY*.

One step at a time! One pound at a time! One day at a time!

@HeartBiller congrats on the loss! When I was religious, I did the Daniel fast as well and lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks, so I think it's pretty normal. Keeping it off was a challenge for me, but I think it's because I went immediately back to eating my normal college diet which was pretty much the antithesis of the fast.

@dimpulz88 I love my Lord and I am doing this for him. He does such a tremendous amount for us everyday.. I feel like I can give at least 21 days just for him. I do feel that it will be a struggle after I start to add the meat back in, but I am mentally prepared for it, so hopefully when the time comes it won't effect me to much... Lol. We all hate a gain, no matter what.. Lol.

A few things.  First of all, congratulations on this week's loss but also on your commitment to health. A one week loss of that size is not unheard of and probably not unhealthy unless it continued week after week.  Between menstrul water retention and clean eating this week (which will help you loose water weigth with lower sodium intake) you are probably just reading your body's actual weight this week where as last week you were reading your body's weight plus a gallon of water :-).

Theological weight loss is an interesting topic.  To quickly summarize myself, I would describe myself as a progressive (left leaning) Christian.  I believe self-care is an act of stewardship.  I often struggled to reconcile my beliefs with an obese body.  I was not caring for what I had been given and it is difficult to see that as anything but sinful from the Christian perspective.  We shorten our lives and we limit our effictiveness on this earth when we are obese and indulgent.  Obesity seems to be one of the negligible sins of the evangelical church with preachers leaning over giant guts to pound the pulpit.  Blessings to you on this journey of faithfulness.

Did well this week, which isn't too surprising as it's my first week back. I also took a set of measurements this morning, so that I have something else to focus on during the slower weeks.

Starting Weight: 195.4 lbs
Current Weight: 193.0 lbs
Weight Lost this Week: 2.5 lbs
Mini-Goal: 180 lbs
Goal Weight: 150 - 160, depending on how I feel at 160.

Here we go again:

Start:           253 lbs

Last Week: 177 lbs

This Week: 173.2 lbs

Change:      - 3.8 lbs

Total Loss:  - 79.8 lbs

Goal :          125

Lost quite a bit more this week. Some of it is water weight (likely from all those holiday parties) and some averages out with last week's below average loss. We'll see what happens next week. My prediction - below average loss yet again. My body is certainly very prone to hormonal fluctuations, which is not surprising given my history of hypothyroidism.

My next major goal is to get out of the obese category. For my height, this is 169 pounds. I am very close and I really hope to hit this milestone by the end of January.

I've also been slowly increasing my calories, which I will continue doing. I've been on an aggressive caloric deficit, which is only safe up to a point. My plan was designed by me for my specific needs and approved by my doctor - it is not suitable for everyone, which is why I do not post details. It seems to have done a great job at minimizing BMR decline while providing good rate of weight loss. This is why I have always been against fad diets. Science rocks!

@tamado -  I have absolutely noticed a delayed effect. This week's weigh-in is an example of such. I clearly didn't lose 3.8 pounds of fat this week. Some of this is from the water weight I've been carrying around since all the holiday parties. Also, there have been weeks when I have been way more active and lost less than on less active weeks. Pretty much all bigger fluctuations can be attributed to our bodies either retaining or letting go of water (provided one's eating patterns have not changed in a significant way).

Hi everyone!

Here we are again. Another week in the books and another weigh-in.

Starting weight: 224.5 pounds (07/06/16)

Previous weight: 182.0 (12/02/16)

Previous weight: 177.5 (12/16/16) -4.5 (2 wks)

Previous weight: 177.0 (12/23/16) -0.5

Previous weight: 176.5 (12/30/16) -0.5

Previous weight: 173.5 (01/06/17) -3.0

Current weight: 171.0 (01/13/17) -2.5

1 week loss: 2.5 pounds

Total loss to date: 53.5 pounds

Goal weight: 155.0

Yeah! Only 16 lbs left until my UGW! It's been a challenging and stressful week so the 2.5 lb loss was a good morale booster. Meal prepping on Sunday helped a lot so I didn't have to think about lunches or dinners all week. These cold winter mornings make it hard to get out of bed and exercise so that's one area I really need to push myself to do to stay on track.

Have a great week!
