Hi!
I'm trying to lose 75 pounds, hopefully at a rate of 1.5 pounds per week. I started on my journey a week and a half ago and I'm currently down 3.6 pounds. I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle and if you want friends for extra motivation feel free to add me. 🙂

With the Charge HR it may depend on where the band is sitting. I just ordered an XL off the website (they're in stock now) because the HR L is too tight on my wrist. I have small wrists for a man and on the very last clasp it leaves marks on my skin. FitBit recommends for certain exercises and activities that you have two finger-width between your wrist bone and the band. With the HR L that is just impossible for me. I'm hoping the HR XL fixes my issues along with improving comfort. If you've got enough clasp leverage try loosening your band.

Michelle Thank you! 🙂
iMike that's a good idea. I do have room to loosen it. I will try that and if that does not work I guess I will be attaching it to my sock! 🙂

Hi Everyone.
Well despite not getting enough sleep this past week or meeting my step goals I still managed to lose a little over 2 lbs, so I'm pretty darn happy about that. Only 89 to go. That for once actually feels achievable, which is a success all in itself. I'm not focused on how long it will take - just that I keep moving forward towards my goal. It would be bloody fantastic if I could lose 55 by the end of the year, but that's a pretty steep goal, so I'll just keep looking ahead and not worry about the final number. Who knows it likely will change anyway.
One of the things I did at work is link together paperclips to represent the number of pounds I've lost since I've started. I like seeing it all the time. It reminds me of little successes.
As for my HR, I've noticed that since I did the software update a couple of weeks ago it's super sensitive to movement. All I have to do is turn my wrist and it lights up the time. This is draining my battery much faster as it happens all the time. I'll be contacting customer service about this.
As for my stepgoal. I'll be getting back to walking a bit more since it's a bit cooler in the evening. I can't even fathom being in the UAE and the heat challenge you have over there! I made a committment to myself that if I can't walk in the evening then I better get my butt out of bed and go for my walk before I get ready for work.
So that's how I'm doing. Everyone should check in and let us all know how you're doing.

Hi guys, just checking in.
I got my fitbit 10 days ago and I've lost 3.3 kg (7.2 lb), therefore I've reached my first goal a week ahead of plan.
I've been making sure I meet my step goal, doing incidental exercise at different parts of the day and recording my calorie intake to the nth degree. Oh, I've also been making sure my digestive system is working well and taking magnesium to calm muscles.
I'm super proud! 🙂

The paperclip idea is a really good one. I just may leverage that!

Havent been online much. I found out that walking through the parkinglot pushing a shopping cart is enough to put my flex into sleep mode, so I'll be putting it in my pocket when I'm shopping, it counts pretty good when I'm doing dishes and walking back and forth, or doing wet work with my wool.
I'm showing a .8lb loss since I got my fitbit, but had a spike in my weight of 2 lbs about 2 weeks after I got my fitbit.
I'm heading to the mountains tomorrow for 2 days and 1 night, we plan on going hiking, and shopping in Banff, that should not only log steps, but significant calorie burn even if we eat like queens, and I plan to enjoy every moment, Kid Free for 2 days.
I've drank some coke but a 500ml bottle took me 4 days to drink, I've been drinking way more water, and it's been running through, flushing out my system. I've had way more energy since I've been drinking the water too, go figure.

Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to fitbit, and would love to be "friends" here to see if that sort of motivation is helpful to me. Please add me, or whatever the hip lingo is for that! I'd love to get to know you and figure out how this all works beyond my isolated experience.
I'm looking to ultimately lose 100 pounds, but am focusing on 60 to start, and see how I feel. I'm just about 300lbs right now (I live in the States)
For me, *even more than the numbers on a scale*, it's my goal to just feel stronger and more able in my body. The numbers come into play for me as I reflect back on where I was when I felt good in my body, but I also realize that as I age that may look different, too. I'm a BIG fan of the Health at Every Size model, and am not at all into body or weight-shaming, in any way. It's been refreshing to not see that on this thread! I'm working out in the gym on muscle strengthening, but decide to invest in a fitbit as a tool to help me track my steps and how that relates to changes in my cardiovascular health..
So, please say hi if you'd like!

I wanted to follow up on the fitbit not tracking while pushing the grocery cart discussion. Today I looped it through my belt loop on my jeans and it worked! I counted my steps four different times while walking and checked it and it was only 6 steps below what I had counted. (Each time I took 25 steps). Overall it was fairly accurate! 🙂
Now coming into this week I am dedicating myself to get back on track with my morning workouts. I slacked last week, mainly because I was not feeling well and I was also exhausted after my trip to Maine. This weekend I am well rested and feeling ready for the week!
My goal for this week is to get up early every morning during the work week for my workout and to hit 9000 steps a day. Cheers!

Hi! I started my weight loss journey (this time anyway) about 3 weeks ago. 2 weeks in , I was really struggling with an app on my phone as tracking, and asked around about other options. That's when I was introduced to FitBit--which I promptly went out and bought! I've got a week under my belt now, and I have to say I love it. I'm a type 2 diabetic and I have 106 pounds to lose. from 256 to 150. Im 47 and 5 foot 3 inches tall. My body wasn't build to carry this much weight.
One thing I wasn't prepared for is how fitness walking seems to be a social event in my area! Everywhere I look, I see people grouping up for their walks, dressed to the nines, made up, hair done. I'm ashamed to admit, Im walking in my pajamas, after 1 cup of tea, to get it done while it's still cool out; my hair thrown up in a ball cap or head band, no makeup. Thankfully, I walk on my own right now. These women are terrifying! Most of them older than me, more fit than me, and talking easily while they walk at a pace that beats mine by miles.
Im hoping to meet people my age, in my area, who are also walking and making changes. Would love to meet new friends here that will challenge, motivate and inspire me!

Maddison~ I saw where you had a bad food day and I was curious. Were you eating because you were hungry? Or were you eating your emotional stress? I recently discovered that not only do I eat negative emotions, I also eat while im online or watching tv. In an effort to convert the habit to something productive, I've gotten out some yarn and my crochet hooks so my hands are doing something while I watch tv and I am moving my desk OUT of the kitchen. (oohhh puttting it out here was such a huge mistake!) I have also convinced myself that when I want to eat, I am probably thirsty. So I drink a bottle of water, and if I am still hungry after that, THEN I eat. This serves a few purposes. 1) I am properly hydrating. 2) I am eating less and giving my stomach a chance to tell my brain it's full by filling up on water. 3) my skin looks so much better! 4) I still get the hand to mouth action that makes me feel like I'm eating.
I know it sounds counter productive, especially when trying to lose weight. but please-DONT stop eating all those wonderful 'feel good' foods. Instead , give yourself permission to have one each day. measure the exact serving according to the box. make a date with the food and give it your full attention. savor it. the smell, the texture, the richness of flavors. drink your water first and really immerse yourself in the experience of eating that food. you will likely eat much less of it and still feel satisfied by it, and you will not feel deprived! It's the feeling of "i can't have this" that does us in and makes us feel like throwing in the towel. You CAN have it==just in smaller amounts, and less often.
