looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.  Stay focused, we didn't get in this shape overnight and it going to take time to see improvements.  Look for the little things, YOU GOT THIS!!!!!!!

juliev_lee  I take Estroven, over the counter $10 a month, it helps me be ME  Smiley LOL

There are a lot of ways of measuring success, how are your cloths fitting?  Can you walk further without being winded?  Tie your shoes more easily?  Look for the little things.  You will see results

I have had my Fitbit Charge for three weeks now and it is really motivating. I am 63 and want to lose around 25 pounds. I have been prediabetic for the last 10 years and need to get this weight off. I have had both my knees replaced, one in December 2012 and the other September 2014. The latest one has been a very slow recovery. I have gained 15 pounds since February and it is all of mindless eating. I workout with a trainer twice a week and have been getting my 10,000 steps in every day. Now I need to get the eating under control and hopefully I'll be on my way.

Hi there!

I know it's over a year since you posted, but yours was the top post in my search for "over 50". I'll be 52 next Thursday. I have more like 60 lbs to lose and I'm also prediabetic. I've lost 16 lbs in the last 2 and half months. Looking forward to using my new Flex. Happy birthday to me!

Thanks for the suggestion, I use tumeric everyday but did not notice any difference, do I use the ginger and tumeric together?  Right now I'm trying Boswellia and Hyaluronic Acid.  I have notice some relief, especially since I uped my activity level.  Crystal

First thing I do after I wake up is drink 16 oz of water, turn on my mp3 player and get started.   I am up to 50 squats 20 push ups, I have some arm exercises also.  It takes about 20 minutes and registers about 2-3 thousands steps  I call it my bedroom aerobics.  Hoping to make it a life time routine.  Get it out of the way for the day  Hope this helps

I am 58 next week.

Been overweight on and off most of my life.

I have relapsing/remitting MS.

I started really attempting to LOSE weight this year by logging onto fitness pal...Its a pretty strong habit as of today.  I've lost 15 lbs since January.

My weight loss has slowed and viewing what I have done in the last 6 months I realized that perhaps I'm not eating enough...steadily keeping the calories or carbs down,, I'm probably starving myself.

SO...I started a new TEST....two days a week of FOOD....eating more, recording it in fitness pal...and assessing how I feel...first thing I notice...on my lower cal days, I feel hunger.  I really FEEL it....

I never felt hunger before.  I'm curious if that FEELING is a GOOD THING....

On the use of the fitbit...very good little tool.  Having MS, its easy for me to think I just don't have it in me to get the movement required for lasting change.  But, I only have problems with fatigue...sustaining a movement for longer that 15 to 30 minutes...and this changes with weather, and stress, etc.

I've used a stationary bike every day for 30 minutes since acquiring the fitbit...OK, yeah, its been sitting idle...for shame....But I am using it now.

My legs are looking great...my shorts are loose and I'm not feeling bloat.

I "found" danna Demetre online...podcast addict....she's awesome.  I joined her group for a little while....I will used what she has shown me the rest of my life.

Blessings to all of you on this journey.

I'll try to post my success with my new experiment of the calorie manipulations.

Just get started and make the choice to do it everyday.  Exercise and being active really helps

Its never too late...just start slow and keep increasing.. 10,000 is good for keeping fit, but to lose weight working up to 15,000 I found really helps

I've so far hit 10,000 twice this year.  Most days I average 5,000 and push to 7,000 as much as possible.  I think I just need to make more time for ME!!!  I do wear the FITBIT religiously and try to step in place or dance around the kitchen while cooking and doing other boring chores.
