looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

Instead of sitting on a ball for 8 hrs, can you walk around that area or march in place?  Marching in place counts for steps and it burns a lot of calories too.  You might take a try at it so you get more benefit out of using your Fitbit!  Smiley Happy

I have a desk job.  I need to be at the computer and phone.  I do walk around when I can get up but most of the time I need to be "sitting" so the ball allows me movement and I can still do my job.

I have a ball at my desk, too. Sounds crazy, but I bought a pretty cheap tiny elliptical machine that's manual. It sits under my desk at work and I'm able to get "steps" in while working. It is actually more liked a recumbent bike when used while sitting. And it works your abs if you're sitting on a ball. 🙂

That's a great idea if you're sitting at your desk!  As often as you can leave your desk to make copies, etc, your break, lunch break, maybe you can get in a walk there too!  I guess I'll do anything to get my steps in!  You sound very creative and no matter what you'll get your steps in!  Congratulations on your creative thinking!  You'll get your Fitbit numbers sky high.  Smiley Happy

Hi, I am 52 and just started using my fitbit today. I am trying to lose 30 pounds as well. My blood pressure is up and I have had to start taking medication. If I lose the weight I'm sure I won't need meds. Getting old kind of sucks but the alternative is worse!! So I am trying to get healthy and get to a realistic weight for my age, height and body type. Good luck on your journey!

Hi everyone.  I'm 53 and just got my Fitbit yesterday.  I, too, am looking to lose weight and get healthier.  I think connecting with others would help a lot with motivation.  How do I connect with others?

Hi Roniart30~  Welcome to the Fitbit Community!  You've done the right thing by reaching out.  I'd love to be your friend and introduce you to more people so you can get the support, encouragement, and learning about the competitions and the Fitbit Community.  I suffer from depression too.  Since using the Fitbit and using it consistently my depression has been much improved.  We can talk more about that privately.

I'm excited you've joined the Fitbit Community.  Let's get started and shoot for the moon!
