looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

I'm 52, wanting to lose 30 pounds as well. Sticking to a pretty strick diet now, and doing over 10,000 steps a day, have had my fitbit 5 days, love it!!!

I started yesterday a low carb/no alcohol/no night time snacks/10,000 steps.  Going to do it for 21 days to try to jump start my weight loss.  If I can start losing, I will then add fruit carbs.  Hopefully, I can stick with it.  Maybe posting everyday will help.

Yesterday I did it.  Worst part is that I wanted something salty to snack on at night.  My usually nighttime was either popcorn or pretzels but not going to do that foe 21 days.

Hi,

I'm 56 and just started the fitbit band 3 days ago and I just love it. I have 100 pounds I want to lose and I tell you what nothing seems to motivate me to do it. I bought this band and its crazy I cant wait to get to my phone or computer just to see how Im doing for the day. And the little challenges you get from someone else motivates me. But still could use other supporters along the way who are in the same boat as me. Im on facebook as well. Brenda_Svoboda@hotmail.com.

Day 3 low carb/10000 strps/ no alcohol.

Got my steps in. Eat low cards but need to watch the cheese. No alcohol. No cravings tonight because I ate dinner late because of work and a meeting at high school for daughter.

Tomorrow I have a really long day at work so will not make it to gym but will still try to get all my steps in.

BrendaS, welcome to the community, you can find some really good people here and just about all of them are trying to do the same thing, so it helps. I started in jan and have lost about 9 lbs and inches, that I did not measure, but am now. I need to lose 61 lbs now, it was 70 so heading in the right direction. I would love to have you as a friend if you are looking or people for motivation and reciprocation. Joanie

Hi I'm 61 and want to loose 25-35 lbs but I'm stuck bouncing back and forth between 155-163.  I'm sure part of it is I sabatage myself when I hit 155 maybe I'm scared subconscously...I don't know.  I'm past wanting to look like a babe I mostly want to look good in cloths and especially want to stay healthy....so I'm hopping fitbit will help....I'm using zip

I am 52 and trying to get in shape.   Got my FitBit HR and logging everything.  I am looking for support and motivation.   I have been trying to follow all the rules and still can't seem to lose any weight.    Any help or encouragement would be welcome.

M61: Subconsciously scared. You do need to figure that out, I think I was scared before that if I got to my weight what if I didn't like what I saw anymore. If that is it you need to get past it for yourself. But fitbit will help as much as you want it to. There are great challenges (that you cannot do if you only have a computer) and great people for inspiration. Its also a great idea to use the food log to see how much you are eating and what kinds of calories you are eating. I started out saying I couldn't do 10,000 steps now I still get excited when I reach it, but it is getting easier to do so and I hated walking on a treadmill. So now I only do maybe 2 miles on the treadmill while watching my favorite TV show and the rest is here and there dancing or just walking marching circles around the house etc. Joanie

Not doing great on steps today or yesterday.  Stuck at work until 7:30 last night and still at the office now while writing this.  When that happens, I have no motivation to go the the gym and living in Florida it gets really hot to work outside.

Doing okay on low carb, but have been seeing that 21 day program and not sure if it is worth it.  Anyone complete it and how was it?

Hi

I am 53 and have had my fitbit for about a year now.  I don't know anyone else that has one and am looking for someone that I can stay motivated with to help me get healthier.  I would like to lose weight, but so far it isn't happening.  I know I need to cut back on my portions, but it's hard sometimes.  Some days I do really good, and then some days I don't!  Anyway, this forum looks like fun!  Happy walking!

Hi,

I'll be 50 in October and I'm looking for supportive friends. I really just want to find other people who want to encourage  a former couch potato who is trying to get more active! I walk for exercise.

I can relate. Were all here to support one another.

Welcome!
