looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

That's my goal too, getting back to my marrying weight, I have 10 lbs to go. It gets sooo hard the closer you get to your target, but I am not giving up.

Actually I have already lost 53 lbs as of today 🙂 So I have another 47 lbs to go.

I hope by switching up my exercise and diet from now on, the next 10 will come off and then another 10 and another 10.... patience is the key (which I have little of).

🙂 All the best for your journey too! I think we will be going part of the way together!

Just don't give up because you get impatient 😀 I am on the same journey as you... I started almost two years ago and have come along way down the road but I still have a ways to go... I have lost 94lbs so far but could still go another 40 - 50 lbs down. Been stuck on a plateau for quite awhile but am determined not to give up... We can do this 😁

Yes we can!!

Congratulations on your huge success! It takes stamina and patience! Kudos to you!

I actually have found new motivation through my at home pilates and yoga workout as well as going to take the yoga teacher training at my local studio.

Everything is "moving" right now, so the clean eating is coming back too.

I think we'll do a clean eating challenge in September. That will keep me accountable. 🙂

Thanks I have been really working at it 😁 Been heavy literally my entire life, well at least since I was about 10... Lol anyway there have been many, many times I went on a"diet " joined Weight Watchers etc. etc but never before have I just changed my entire life style. Seriously you are talking to a woman who would circle the parking lot multiple times searching for the spot closest to the entrance... I would get a piece of exercise equipment and tben use it for a clothes rack. Now I not only own but actually use a treadmill an elliptical and a rebounder sometimes I even ride the bike... I average 20 to 30 thousand steps a day.... I am determined not to let myself give up this time 😁 I decided I want to live long enough that my adult children might actually move out and my hubby and I can have a little time ( and space) to ourselves (grin) love all the support and motivation I have found in the Fitbit groups I have become a part of 😀

I wish I had your presistence and patience.  Ihave fallen off the wagon and need help.  I don't seem to be able to type in comments unless it is replies, but I read comments everyday.  I need some pushing, shoving, kicking in the ass!!!!  Yes, needing tough love!!!  feeling lazy  Joanie25

Wow debbriko, that is fantastic. Reading your story I felt as though I was reading about myself. I lost 60 pounds five years ago with South Beach and working out with a trainer. Since that time I have had two knee replacements. During this past year I just can't seem to stay on track with my eating and have gained almost 30 pounds. I am sticking to over 10,000 steps per day, but just haven't gotten my eating under control.
I am leaving on Monday for a three day golf trip and when I get back, I am going to do this!!

I can't say that I haven't fallen off the wagon a few times in the last two years, well I could but I'd be lying... 😁 I just remind myself how hard I have worked to get this far and how much I hate the idea of going back to where I used to be... I to help me remember I also have little reminders here and there around the house.. I printed a couple of before / during photos (I don't call them after because I'm not done) and I hung one on the front of the fridge and one on the pantry door. That way anytime I go for a snack or something to eat I think twice if I was headed for something "bad" I also do alot of challenges with the people I have friendex on the Fitbit site. I have found being in the challenges keeps me motivated. Do you do any of the challenges? I also joined a bunch of fitbit groups on Facebook whose purpose is encouragement and motivation and those keep me going in the right direction as well. It's allot of fun 😁 I'd be happy to send you invites if you think it's something that might help you as well. And I'm always here for you as well 😄

You're amazing! I would love an invite to the motivational sites. I like your idea of posting photos. I was thinking if taking out a dress I'd like to get back into. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hello Frauline,

Like you, I am on a journey "again".  I am diabetic and can tell you all my woes with not controlling my blood sugar.  However, that is the past.  I need either great support or a "cattle prod" to get me moving.  I used to do sprint tri's and loved them.  However, work has become my evil passion.  I need to stay motivated and keep moving.  Have you read the book "No Sweat" by Michelle Segar?  Great no read on what causes us to be motivated for exericse.  It blows away everything I have ever learned.

Take care,

sftyldy

Hi All!

I just turned 57 (OMG!!)  and am getting in shape.  The fitbit will keep me accountable.  I waited until my eating was under my control and now Im ready to add movement.  Im eating a ketogenic diet and the first few weeks were rough.  Im past the rough part and am feeling GREAT! On to walking, biking, yoga and dance.  My fav things.  It's a pleasure to meet you all!
