looking for friends - 50s and female and getting fabulous!

Hi!  I'm looking for some friends for motivation and support.  I'm 51, female, and working on losing 30 lbs.  My A1c is pre-diabetic so I'm shedding some weight to try and get it under control.

Anyone?

90 pounds is awesome!  I just started Weight Watchers last week so it's encouraging to here the combination has worked for you.  Hopefully it'll be what I need!  Thanks!

Thank you for the invitation into your group and Fall/Winter Challenge.  I would love to join.  What do I do next to get my picture up on your board to be in the competition?  I just got my fitbit on September 14 and took a few days to figure it all out.  I am loving it and finding it very motivating!

I am 58 years old, 43 more pounds to lose to my goal of 145.  I have five grandchildren ranging in ages from 3 up to 7, so they keep me hopping.  Want to be around to dance at all of their weddings!

Hi I am also new to fitbit forum but have had my fitbit for a few months. Like others my job has me sitting at my desk most of the day. By the time I get home I am mentally exhausted and head for the couch. I know I need to get up and get moving. Help!

Hi!  I am 49 - turning 50 in October.  I have had Type 1 diabetes since I was 8.  I grabbed my fitbit to encourage me to walk more - especially during the day while I am in the office.  I sit most of the day.  This is my first day using the fitbit and it looks pretty exciting!

Take the stairs at work, walk at lunch. Get up and move every hour for circulation and sanity.

Little voices inside often lie. Work out before going home.

I usually take my dogs for a walk around my block - twice is about 1.4 miles - I get those steps in before I head to work - As I work in a casino, I can get 12K - 15K steps a day.  I have lost 15lbs in 3 months and need another 15 to go - logging all my food has helped a lot! Good luck to all - the holidays are approaching - hoping we can all stick to it!! 🙂

Hi Julie, I'm walking about the same amount and I live in Reno. Where are you? I would love to have a walking buddy.  I jog at 5:30 am and walk at 5 pm, same route in South Reno with my dog.

I'm in Golden, Colorado - but glad we are at least fitbit buddies - otherwise, I would definitely be your walking buddy! 🙂

I am a 52 year old woman in need of remaining active for my health.  It makes me feel great (when I do it consistently). I am interested in joining a Fitbit group.  I'd like to participate in Fitbit Challenges.  I find that I do better when I'm involved in one.  Does this group have Challenges?

boy, I'd love to be in Reno!
I'm in Salem, MA We just had our first frost last night. BRR. I've got to push myself to go out every day now. I know if I do, I'll get adjusted to the colder weather, but I HATE being cold!

You can do the challenges on the Fitbit site itself... I do 5 each day.. Keeps me on my toes... I also do the walking4fun.com and matchup. io sites which are also fun 😊

Hi Jules, It rained over the weekend, so we actually have gotten more this month than average. Average for Oct is 1/2 inch.

I had the rain coat on the dog but her trouble is that she is small and the under side and legs get wet from splashing.

This morning I had ice on the windshield but the wipers scraped it off. And it was 40 something out too! I'm out before dawn so who knows what happened in the night.

Hi Julie,
I live in Norwood and brrr is right!  It seems we went from sweating to freezing in a short period of time.  I am averaging about 6,000 to 7000 steps a day and I find the fitbit to be very motivating.  I had one day in the month that I've been using it (just started using it a month ago) that I hit 9,985 steps.  I certainly would have walked the last 15 if I had know I was so close to the goal!  haha.  I have a Planet Fitness membership but have not gone in a year.  I will be going when it gets cold, icy and snowy because I too do not like the cold or taking a slide on the ice.  Keep on walking!  I have 43 pounds to lose and I want them gone by May of 2016.  I don't think that is unrealistic.  I have lost 15 since September 1st.  We need to stay motivated and moving throughout the holidays and not let those 2 days, Thanksgiving and Christmas, ruin our hard work.  Have a great day!
