Who has the Most Lifetime Fitbit Steps?

I thought it might be fun to see some of the "Total Lifetime Steps" figures from a few of the more diehard Fitbiters out there. I've been using my Fitbit Ultra for just about 2 years, and noticed that I've now gone past the 5 Million Steps mark (I'm currently at: 5,018,549 steps).

While 5 Million Steps may seem like a lot to some newer Fitbit users, I can tell you for sure, that my wife easily has me beat, since she now has logged over 7½ Million Steps (and we both started using our fitbits right around the same time).

But of course, I'm sure we could actually see some really amazing high figures if some of the more agressive Fitbit users would like to share their current Lifetime totals with the community.

Congratulations

That is a huge effort, and 10 years of dedication.

I am unsure how many other people have reached such heights, I wish I knew.

What is your next target?

27,601 average per day, I know how hard that is, more than 4 ½ hours every day for 3,623 days.

Thanks, Peter.  My average steps per hour is about 7,000, so that would be about four hours per day.  This year, it's been about six, as - to answer your question - I'm now aiming to get over 16 million this year.  I should be able to achieve that by Christmas.  Thereafter, I don't intend to try to beat this year's total, as it takes up too much time!  Long term, I reckon if I can keep up about 10 million a year for the next decade, that would be reasonable.  It also depends on my dog, who doesn't mind how many steps I do - at the moment - but he's nine now.

I started in 2018 and now have over 28million steps

You are doing well.
Hope you feel better for the exercise.
If you started 1/1/2018 you have averaged 15K steps and day, if you started 31/12/2018 you have averaged 19K steps a day.

So somewhere between my guess.

All the best for 2023.

Just a little postscript, that I got past 16M on Christmas Eve, and ended 2022 with 16,271,126 steps.  As I mentioned above, I'm cutting down from now on, partly because to increase each year takes so much time in the day, and also because I'm getting some undiagnosed shoulder pain when I walk.  It's not a problem when I'm sitting or lying down, thank goodness, and I still want to walk - I need to with that energetic collie I've got - but I plan to do about two thirds of what I've done this year.

Congratulations.

You beat me by a huge margin. I could claim ill health but that would be an excuse.

The best I have ever done in 12 months is 14,682,364 so you thrashed me.

16,271,126 works out to just short of 45K steps a day ( actually 44,578 )

Think I may still have the highest overall total, 144.2M, but that is just me trying not to feel like Liverpool, losing after 85 years to Brentford. How the mighty have fallen.

Very well done.

Now I am almost 82 I think my average will decline.;

Thanks, Peter.  It was your 14.68M total that inspired me to go for 15M in the first place this year, and the change of target to 16M came a bit later.  You're still over 43M ahead of me, and you did your 14.68M when you were quite a bit older than I am now.

There's a blow-by-blow account here.

Good stuff, @GSaldiveri !  Tell us more about your 100K step day - was that a special event, or just a really good personal challenge - or both?

Long time ago.
It was a challenge and a huge effort to see if it was possible, but I have no doubt if I will never do it again.

Now almost 82 I struggle to maintain 35K steps a day.

I am MUCH slower these days.

@Vidd, It was there lol... Not something I will want to do again EVER! I was in a rolling workweek hustle with some serious steppers. We were doing 200k+ in 5 days and it was something I was challenged with.

I know some on here say it's easy to do 40, 50, 70k a day and some log over 100k/day. I've always called BS on that - just not enough time to make it happen. I started walking about 3am, took me over 18 hours of solid stepping to get that badge. I walked almost 50 miles that day and I will never do it again. lol, like I said anyone that says it's easy and logs it regularly is full of it!

It was something I was able to put down as a once in a lifetime event. Glad I did it, was not easy though. These days I'm happy if I can pull off a 30k day lol

@yu4517 , Peter, 35,000/day is something to celebrate at 82!  @GSaldiveri, I've never done 100,000 in a calendar day, although I once did over 90,000 in an organised 42-mile walk that began at 4 in the morning.  I have done 120,000 in 24 hours on six occasions - that was another organised walk of 50 miles, and total climbing of 8,000 feet - but did my last one in 2018.  It's not easy to do the big numbers - I agree with you!

So I'm closing in on 60,000,000 lifetime steps (59,181,108) and wondered where that stacked up with others. I've been using FitBit since 2014, 8 and a half years total. Lots of impressive numbers here! I get most of my steps walking but am also a runner - I've done quite a few Ultramarathons over the years so those days really pump the totals up. I've been over 100,00 steps in a day a total of 11 times, the last one was this past Saturday when I ran a 50 mile race in Florida. My highest daily total was a bit over 152,000. I'm 64 years old, slowing down but not by much lol.

I love how this motivates me to get my steps in every day whatever way I can. Keep up the good work everyone! Next big goal will be to hit 100,000,000 in a few years 🙂

Hi, @ceraffen, that's good work!  (You've missed a zero off in your fourth line, by the way.)

That's one huge daily total!  Any idea how many hours that took?

Keep it up, and keep us updated on here. 🙂

My 12th year on Fitbit ended a few weeks ago on March 28, 2023. I was up to 94,551,679.

My first day (3.28.11) was 11,664 steps. Started recording steps around noon that day. I wanted to compare that to 3.28.23, but I was disappointed. Turned out that I put on the wrong Fitbit on before bed on the 27th (Luxe -- instead of Inspire 3 that is linked to my account) and I didn't realize until 4pm on the 28th. So from 4pm to the end of the day on the 28th I got 7,577 steps.

That is really impressive @Baltoscott. How amazing to have 12 years of "life" data at your fingertips.

Thanks Vidd! So, I passed 60 million and am at 61,264,781 right now. Had a big week recently when I finished a 200 mile trail race and had 4 straight days of 100,000 steps or more.

@Heather-S - it is really is cool to be able look back at any day over the past12 years.

@ceraffen I should be pretty close to that 100M mark when I report in at my 13 year 'Fitiaversary'.  Also, your 120 mile trail race is an amazing accomplishment!
